Um. I have been reading it. For two months. Since I found the Farms back in march.

I would absolutely say that her eating disorder is at best comorbid, if not secondary to NPD--which IMHO completely and comprehensively excludes anything resembling a hope for recovery. Eating disorders can be treated. NPD is untreatable. We do not have any why to uncouple the narc train from the shitstorm caboose. The food is the drug her NPD requires to medicate the ever growing cognitive dissonance between her reality (basically this entire thread) and her False Self, combined with her spiralling and ever growing sense of self hatred.

Chantal NEEDS that sunbathing-in-jamaca fantasy. She needs it the way most of us need social contact. Because that fantasy is the only thing standing between herself and reality. I say this because I see a LOT of people saying that she loves herself and using the term "narcissistic" in a sense of self adoration to the exclusion of all else. But the root cause of narcissism is not self-obsession, but self-hatred. A narcissist hates themselves on a degree that makes No Exit look like a three way. Hell, to a narc, is themselves alone with themself. Every single negative on this thread is something Chantal (if she is NPD) says to herself every single minute. I think she's probably in one of the worst depressive episodes of her life. Between reading about herself here, and being reminded of her super-morbid obesity every single second in her new place (navigating stairs, having to move around and unpack boxes, etc), she's likely not well at all.
