The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Jak and Daxter's open world was really incredible. I was a console gamer only at that point, so I never saw anything like it. I, personally, think Naughty Dog started to go downhill after that with Jak II. I know that game and III get a lot of love, but if I remember correctly, Sony basically told them to stop putting out childish and goofy games and make it more serious.

SONY is as much of a problem as Naughty Dog here. Their direction to go more "Totally serious and depressed bro" came from SONY and it's starting to impact their other games now as well.

I like Jak II and III, but the first game is by far the best.

The darker, grittier approach of the sequels appealed to me at the time as I was the perfect age for it (13/14) but today the first game has aged the best, I definitely wish the sequels had stuck with that art style and tone.

Sony is such a deathknell for games studios.

They really bought a lot of games and ran them into the dirt.

This seems like more of the same gameplay-wise from the first game. Just somehow the enemies aren't as covered with fungus.

Correct me if I wrong, but why is Ellie wearing a mask? I thought it was established she didn't need one? Or did something happen in the parts of the first game I never got to?

In one of the leaked cutscenes she and Joel are talking and one of them mentions how they've been hiding that she's immune from everyone, probably so they don't get a repeat of the Fireflies.

Ah okay, that actually makes sense. Probably the only smart move they've made honestly since it actually ties back to previous events in a natural way.

Immune to the disease does not mean immune from choking, gasping, and wheezing in the middle of combat. A bunch of spore might not infect her, but I see legitimate reasons to wear it regardless.

Damn this animation looks really janky, the zombie popping into and out of the floor. Also lol at the late March time stamp

Why is Ellie wearing a mask? If that's Dina with her, Dina knows Ellie is immune. Maybe something in the story leading up to this reveals why she's wearing one, still doesn't explain the post-apocalyptic gym

Missed this. According to the first games she's completely immune. She was never wwearing a mask in the heaviest spore infected places

Apparently the enemy AI can't see very well in broad daylight.

Holy shit the AI is a downgrade from the original in every way, and they weren't even that smart in the first place. This is just embarrassing.

Judging by the great big yellow INVISIBLE floating over Ellie, I'm guessing that they have the game set in some debug mode with a cheat code enabled that literally makes her undetectable to the AI no matter what.
