It doesn't matter how much he makes because:

-He will forever be in debt
-He will forever be shit with money
-He has NO friends
-He pretty much has no family
-His wife doesn't love him or fuck him and is possibly gone
-He has no future prospects
-He has no skills
-He serves no purpose to society
-He has no life outside playing vidya badly
-He will die sooner than later and not one person will mourn his passing.

Repeat that to yourself if you ever find yourself jealous at how much he makes. I promise you will feel better.

When you have no money (me) you start to feel a little angry that someone like Dark makes so much. That things are unfair (for some, really unfair). Makes you lose faith. I'm not jealous of his money, youre angry that someone that big a piece of shit has been handed everything, even if he then fucks it up through sheer ineptitude.

When you have nothing you will take anything, when you have it all you realise its nothing.
Things will change for Phil soon a man in almost financial ruin. A 38 year old in the body of an 80 year old. Obviously hating what he does for money. He finds solitude drinking gin and blowing what money he has on a bad mobile game.
Even after he recovers from his bankruptcy how long will people watch an old man play video games maybe until he's 45. At that point he'll be near death with his health.
30 year old Phil had a chance to change things now those days are long gone barely able to finish a video game with out baby step directions. If Phil wasn't so toxic I'd pity him.

It appears the vest streak is on its last legs. Even if it keeps going until 100, it'll be a whole bunch of what happened last stream: Phil's legendary combo of putting the vest on for 10 minutes tops into "thanks for the money dummies" clockout. That sure is one hell of a way to spend your money during these times.
Yeah, it seems this is how it will end. It will take longer and longer to reach the goal, then one day, just the right whales won't be in the stream at the end and he won't hit the goal. It will be funny to watch him go overtime trying to keep the streak going. I wonder how long he'll drag it out before he calls it?

Between the people who envy Phil for making $130,000/year and those who say "Yeah, but he's bankrupt/miserable/an alcoholic"...obviously the middle ground is that most of us could make $130,000 for playing games and also manage the money well enough not to be bankrupt, and would presumably not be miserable alcoholics who hated our jobs. So while there's no reason to be envious of Phil himself, I can understand someone wishing they could get paid that much for doing something they "love" or be young, healthy and making that money in today's world.

What? His original story was that he would eat a single McDouble for breakfast, then eat a single McChicken for lunch, and then eat nothing else and maybe drink some alcohol for dinner. So now we've gone from his sob story of only eating $2 worth of McDonald's food a day at 800 calories total plus getting drunk, to eating 1,600-2,000 calories of McDonald's sandwiches a day for $4 to $5 plus getting drunk :cringe: Fuck you Mr. DePhil.

Oh, by the way this was from one of his $50 Patreon perk videos, so there you go. Pay $50 for the privilege of Darksy personally lying to you to manipulate more money out of you. Clearly a much better deal than paying a celebrity willing to whore themselves out to make a meme video.

To put this in perspective, McDonalds breakfast went to 10:30am. You didn't get burger shit until after that time so this tells you what time he got up and went to work.

Big ups to mollymawk for the clip.

Genuinely laughed at this rant. The only thing in Phil’s life I’d call successful is convincing idiots to give him money for nothing. There’s really no other facet of his life that’s successful even under the most generous standards.

He has no friends, has a wife that seems to barely tolerate his existence, awful physical health, is so far in debt that he filed for bankruptcy despite making double what most Americans make, fucked up the first basic meeting in said bankruptcy so badly that people mocked him for weeks about it, hates his job, hates his fans, regularly gets drunk because he has no passion for anything, wastes his money on a mobile game for a group that unceremoniously boots him and treats him as a means to an end, and has nothing to show for academically despite his bachelors.

If Phil could pull 130k and manage it he wouldn't be a cow, so while true the point is moot unless you wanna be jealous of ALL streamers.

And considering the ratio of streamers who can make a living vs the thousands others who Katted it up, streaming is a fuckton of effort that doesnt usually pay off. Phil's a weird fucking anomaly. Anyone sane wouldn't survive the way Phil does in the toxic sludge every day.

4th place at EVO you scrub. Also, going strong(liquor I presume) for 11 years, so fuck you you thaaxic piece of shit!

I think the main thing here is that some aspects of Phil's life are worthy of some envy, depending on your personal circumstances.

- He owns a nice(ish) condo in a nice(ish) suburb
- He gets to play video games for a living
- He makes >100K a year (as someone who recently graduated from university this sounds like a lot)
- Okay when starting this bullet point list I expected to be able to list more but I'm drawing a blank now

However, the moment you zoom out from viewing his accomplishments in the narrowest possible sense, his life becomes a living hell. He owns a nice condo which will soon be pulled out from under him. He actually hates playing video games, and has to play them in front of an audience of imbeciles and bloodthirsty New Zealand fruits. He compulsively wastes all of his income and then some on the most undeserving of mobile games.

If you look hard enough at most anything, you will find a silver lining; however, if you look too deeply into the abyss of Phil's life out of envy of all things, you will soon find it looking right back at you. Ack ack ack ack.

The area outside his little gates is pretty dogshit. Also as an added bonus for WA state, they apparently are on the verge of having a murder hornet (Giant Asian Hornet) problem. Shit is all over the news today. So yea, that is something WA state has going for it.

I'd shoot myself if I had to play video games for a living. I think many others would too.

100k a year is a lot, but not when you burn it as quickly as you get it, or don't use it to enjoy life.

Shit, I make $33k a year and I have more in savings than DSP does, so I guess I don't feel too bad.
I'm on SSI and have more money and security than Phil does. It astonishes me every time I come here that Phil lives the way he does.

My point is simple: I play lots of video games, I'd like $300/day for playing them. I'm also already a lolcow myself, so the negative shit online I have covered. Not taking into account what Phil does outside of streaming, which was how Phil was replying to that troll cheer.

Then stream it then you cant possibly be worse than Phil.

This will actually be really interesting to watch when it's time. On the one hand, Phil just looooooves money and he will tweet out that the vest streak is in danger every single time with no shame in his bones. So you'd think he'd add another 15 minutes easily just waiting for another whale to finally pay up. Maybe we'll even get peak Phil with a classic, transparent lie such as "I REALLY just feel like keeping the stream going a little bit more....for you guys! Hint hint."

But on the other hand, fuck Phil if he has to play video games for even a second longer than necessary. He loves the early clockouts so much because of that.
So what will prevail in the end: massive greed or laziness?
