The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

There's a notable amount of "stop choosing to be gay" in this thread.

I can't speak for everyone, but I made sure in my post (the one that bleeding hearts keep gnashing their teeth over) to mention that in a scenario where a person is a critical element in the survival of the human race, the idea that their pre-existing choices in life get thrown out the window isn't mutually exclusive to just being gay.

If for example, you're immune and aware of humanity's numbers dwindling but also hate blacks, that also falls by the wayside, and you'd better be hitting up Tyrone/Shaneequa if they're your only option. This would also be the case if the virus flipped reproduction on its head and somehow made LGBT the new norm. The continued survival of mankind - at least to me - supersedes any racism, attitudes to religion, sex or alternative lifestyles that you may think takes precedence now.

ND could probably crunch having Joel in a coma, putting Abby's story in conjuction with Ellie's story (since the "twist" is ruined), the last hours of gameplay and the ending, so the final product is subpar but not franchise destroying (since in that case pretty much everything can be returned to status quo in the next game). But that is entirely depdendant on Druckman, who strikes me as someone who's bitter and vengeful enough to intentionally release a flop rather than admit his story is on the same intellectual level of a 14 year old who reads Tvtropes all day.

So I read through the comic of TLoU: Left Behind, and you know how Ellie met Riley (the black dyke who "apparently" died in the DLC)?
Riley stole the cassette player she inheritet from her mother. That girl also rifled through the stuff of a veteran firefly who was hiding out in the decript mall, while he was doing them a service and letting Ellie ride his horse. He did that because Riley stole a bottle of single malt from school and gave it to her. At one point Riley states she does not want to be told where and who to shoot, yet wants to join the fireflies. When asked if she wants to get kicked out of the forces and join the city-dwellers, she dismisses that with a claim they are still slaves to the system and she deserves better.

Overall, Riley is a little shit who steals, lies, and acts as if she's entitled to things. Why anyone would pretend that Ellie cares about her, I don't get.

Prime recruitment material for the Fireflies, right there, without a hint of sarcasm. She will fit right in.
Interesting that a writer such as Druckman would characterize a black girl as an opportunistic thief who screws other people over for her own gain and feels entitled to things merely due to existing.

Who knew Neil was so based?

EDIT: Ninja'd

Nice display of racism here ND better hire a better writer next time,or are you telling me that "woke" writers are ok with racial stereotypes?
Strangely enough, the woke left are.

Yeah, TLoU: American Dreams was written by Druckmann. That's a running theme with the woke left, they near always fall back to stereotypes and praise them as a good thing.

lol people set in their ways, let alone their sexual orientations, are not going to put their differences to rest for the common greater good. Marxists can't even be bothered to ignore even their most minor of differences before they start eating each other. If anything, such a scenario would be an 'all bets are off' one where self/group interest would soar.
I can't figure out who this character design is meant to appeal to.

I know who.

The game went gold a few days ago so they can't change it now. The game that leaked is the game that will release.

SJWs never back down on anything, they'd probably rather actually kill themselves than give an inch to what they see as "Nazis"

I thought she reminded of someone
You might think the roid rage look is the problem with this art, but the real reason it sucks is because his chest is drafted at a 45 degree angle in a profile shot. If anything, repositioning the neck to the center of his chest and away from the shoulder would fix the art instantly.

Okay, well, it still has problems, like the gargantuan shoulder that's bigger than his head from scalp to clavicle. It still looks better, anyway.

You know, some folks on TV Tropes are defending the fact that Joel died because, in their words, " Joel dying doesn't bother me because Joel is a guy who being killed by the children of one of his victims is something he'd argue is coming. He never made atonement for any of his sins and is a guy with a long history of being the bad guy. As much as he loves Ellie, it's a fitting ending to die for what he's done."

You think that's true? That his death serves as a narrative consequence for his actions and that it's fitting?

Yes, but the execution leaves much to be desired.

Only in the internet. The moment you corner them in real life, they shriek and beg for clemency. They are the definition of ITG.

But that's my point, these people would probably rather kill themselves then see people be able to tell them to "suck it" on Twitter.

There is a grain of a worthwhile idea buried somewhere in there, but as is always the case with SJW storytelling it's buried under piles of political BS.

Let's say Abby was not a steroid freak looking Mary Sue but instead was a much better looking and better written character, would be people as upset over her killing Joel? Maybe not.

But there's also the fact that while the first game made it clear that Joel has done bad things in his past, him rescuing Ellie from the Fireflies was not one of them, he was in fact pretty justified in doing so.

Maybe they could instead have a flashback to when Joel DID do something terrible and THAT was what he was paying for.

The point is, Joel dying is not in of itself the problem, I know I expected him to probably die in this game, it's how it was done.

How happy do you think Joel would be if he knew that his killer was going to go womenssports.gif on Ellie afterwards?

It basically makes the story as "killing is wrong because there is some random person related to the victime who will kill you and then a random person related to you will kill him, and so forth with random people".

Sounds similar to the script of Terminator: Dark Fate...

I wrote about it couple of days ago. There is a span of time in Joel's past where he was a scavenger who prayed on the helpless, that's canon to the first game. If you had the villain be a victim of him from back then, then people would at least accepted it as being correct from a thematic angle. BUT having the villain be related to a no name NPC that tried to murder a teen girl in a dubious science experiment is not just something out of nowhere, but paints the act of saving a loved one as morally wrong and the whole hospital bloodshed to be pointless.

Not to mention that it divorces Ellie from the plot, since Joel was the one who started the hostilities. It basically makes the story as "killing is wrong because there is some random person related to the victime who will kill you and then a random person related to you will kill him, and so forth with random people".

It's almost like grimdark is the unholy grail of being untouchable to SJWs.

Cause it's a fucking hard genre to write for as it involves having an ability to write relatable, emotional, and horrifying tales that strip away race, gender, and sexual orientation as the grim reapers cares not for any of this and will murderhobo you regardless. Haunting tales of faceless undead, weapon wielding psychos, and insane doom cults that's only goal is to kill you and take your shit. Try telling a zombie to respect your pronouns or a mad max biker gang that they should stop harassing you because you are a different skin color. Imagine writing that and having someone read that and going "YAASSS SLAY QUEEN!!!11!", never gonna happen outside of some tumblr post or on twitter.

None of those concept matters as that's all they have to write about: race, sexual identity, and politics. No one buys that material, the market can't identify with it, and normal people won't spend money on material people can't relate to at least on some level.

As many, many, many others have said SJW's cannot "Human" very well, they lack the ability to empathize with people, and their emotional validation is You believing They are Right which makes them "Happy" i.e. less miserable than they were 5 min prior.

All ND had to do was make a better game than the original that combined Resident Evil with Walking dead and leave out pushing IdPol into everyone's faces and they'd be rolling in dead president's. Apparently money is not 'important' to druckman and crew as it is to Sony...
