Homosexuality is at the forefront in works and stories where THAT'S THE POINT. That's where it works, when sexuality is the theme of the work. But for something like TLOU, sexuality is probably the last thing anyone thinks about. It is so ancillary it doesn't matter. TLOU is all about relationships under the worst conditions. Sex should be a minor theme. It should be relationships and bonds that are on the forefront.

So I read through the comic of TLoU: Left Behind, and you know how Ellie met Riley (the black dyke who "apparently" died in the DLC)?
Riley stole the cassette player she inheritet from her mother. That girl also rifled through the stuff of a veteran firefly who was hiding out in the decript mall, while he was doing them a service and letting Ellie ride his horse. He did that because Riley stole a bottle of single malt from school and gave it to her. At one point Riley states she does not want to be told where and who to shoot, yet wants to join the fireflies. When asked if she wants to get kicked out of the forces and join the city-dwellers, she dismisses that with a claim they are still slaves to the system and she deserves better.

Summarized, Riley is a little shit who steals, lies, and acts as if she's entitled to things. Why anyone would pretend that Ellie cares about her or what she even sees in her, I don't know.

we saw several hours of a potentially 20-30 hour long game, there's always the possibility it won't be AS shitty as the leaks would lead you to expect. I don't expect there to be some grand context changing stuff that makes what we've already seen actually great as part of a full product, but there's a chance we get a 6.5 out of 10 situation. maybe even a 7. personally, I'd prefer it to be irredeemable shit since it would be funnier than plain woke mediocrity, but for the fans' sake I hope they at least get something out of it. they won't get a masterpiece that's for sure, but neither was the first game.

absolute best case scenario: the game looks and plays well, they somehow manage to make abby likable inbetween the joel in one and the lesbian smackdown, and the build up to those two scenes actually works. the former is a given but the latter two would be very difficult, though not impossible. if they accomplish these things, we'll get a 7/10 game that's praised as a groundbreaking masterpiece by critics and fans but still gets memed on relentlessly.

2020 is shaping up to be the year of big gaming disappointments. RE3 (2020) fucked up because Capcom cut out far too much stuff; FF7R fucked up because it lied about being a remake and went full Kingdom Hearts. XCOM fucked up by pussying out, lowering the difficulty and going full woke. Now a sequel to what many people consider one of the best games of the last console generation fucks up by giving a big fuck you to everyone who had the least bit of interest in the first game! The only game that's lived up to the hype this year is Doom: Eternal!
