The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Who could have predicted that having trans character who beats the shit out of cis lesbians would upset the trans lobby?

Oh way, everyone could have predicted it.

Bad writers gonna bad write. I'm sure he thought this was a genius move that illustrated the cycle of violence and got brownie points for not being speciesist.

The Last of Us Part 2 is about a troon taking revenge on TERFs.

So happen to own God of War now, but there's something that's quite contrasting about it. Even though the game is toned down for GOW standards, it feels a lot more mature and rich. It has a meaningful tone to it, a god whose vengeance has simmered, but the ashes of his guilt lingers. He faces the vulnerability of taking care of a child and the loss of a mate, once again. He finds himself in a world he doesn't understand.

Yet, Kratos takes it upon himself to fight through it, teach his son to be strong, and forgive himself. What we got was a kick-ass gameplay and wonderful storytelling! Of course, this look years in the making, effort and heart. The developers themselves clearly had a lot of fun with it too when you look into it, not taking themselves too seriously either.

Contrast that with TLOU 2, a meaningless tale of revenge, shocking character deaths for cheap attention, and pointless political overtones. Assuming there is gameplay, it looks more like a walking simulator if anything. There is no defined theme, except to shock you out for money. How stupid!
They spent a ton of time with the battle system and they even contracted some dudes out from From Software to offer guidance. Sony wanted to put a souls-like battle system in a non-souls game. The battles have weight to them because you can knock guys down and the battles are going to feel a little more personal since they're usually 1 on 1 or 3 on 1.

When you get up to the Valkyrie fights and the gauntlets, that's when you can see how it really shines because those are some of the harder fights in the game.

There's a rich humanity to God of War, the father and son relationship between Kratos and his son is very well done, considering how anti-male SJWs are God of War is actually pretty unwoke.

Yes it's toned down in the sex and violence department, but what it loses in that it gains in more emotional resonance to the story, so unlike the typical SJW approach it isn't just taking things away.

As a game, part of me misses the sweeping, cinematic camera angles of the past games, but at the same time it's really interesting to see a world of mythology from the perspective of that intimate "over the shoulder" camera, looking up at creatures like Jormungandr that way felt really fresh and new.

And the combat was outstanding, as much as I liked the older games the combat in them could be very repetitive and tedious, which the new combat almost never did.

Honestly I avoided the new God of War primarily because it felt like it was taking too much unneeded inspiration from the first Last of Us, ironically enough. I'm one of the biggest fans of the original trilogy and the prequels you will ever meet (hell I even liked Ascension and I think it's seriously underrated), so everything about the new one made my skin crawl. It felt like it was sacrificing the original series' identity for the sake of stupid cinematic gameplay and trying to tell a "serious" story (that one quote from the developer about getting rid of the jump button because it wouldn't tell the story the game wanted pissed me off because it was getting rid of useful mechanics because it got in the way of the story, which is fucking bullshit).

As someone who enjoyed the original trilogy and legit thinks the first game had a great story, I just plain hated what the new game was trying to do because it wasn't God of War anymore. And a big reason why I didn't like The Last of Us was because I started to feel its influence creeping into games I love with the new God of War. I don't mind the existence of these kinds of story driven third-person action games even though they aren't my cup of tea, but when one of my favorite series gets corrupted by it, then there's a big problem. And it just felt wrong to do that with a series as angry and violent like God of War.

Yeah God of War 4 should have been a brand new IP instead they ruined Kratos's character.

One thing that never made sense to me about TLOUs world is why every other human seems to be ready to blow eachothers heads off. It's not like The Road where the ecology is fucked, hell there's trees and animals all over the place and the zombies seem to mainly stay inside buildings. Why exactly wouldn't people just revert to a more agrarian society instead of trying to rob and kill every other person they see? Especially since the zombies seemingly die/turn to mushrooms after a while. I haven't played the first one since like 2015 so I might be misremembering stuff but that never made sense to me.

Humanity had a chance to pull itself up and separate from the zombies. After 20+ years, though, it missed that call.

TLOU is pretty standard for post-apocalypse fiction, at least the first one. You have the gated survivalist camps where everyone tries to restore the world/hold onto what it used to be. Outside the walls you have the raiders who decided the end of the world was open season to murder, rape, and rob people.

The zombies spread infection with bites and scratches, and if I remember right or unless I missed something, inhaling the spores will still turn you into a fungus monster. The pandemic continues to be a very real threat and has fucked the world in the decades post-Sarah to where there's not much hope of fixing it. Which, again, does not lend itself to the credibility of people discovering their fierce true selves and pumping up their whatever-gender manlady muscles.

(Unless you want to view TLOU2 as satire on gender politics...people worrying about "muh pronouns" instead of trying to salvage the rest of the human race. Your move, Neil. Lol.)

Dunkey's a boring hack. His videos haven't improved at all since he started 8+ years ago.
I haven't watched Dunkey outside of one or two of his videos that went viral. I don't know who he is or what he talks about, all I know is that he pisses off the games press and they hate him for it. That's good enough in my book.

Dunkey stopped being funny when it became more and more clear that he will have a grudge on you for saying something negative about him and even go as far as to sic his fanbase at you for doing so

Yet the funniest thing about him is the whole "Keep Saying It" meme from when /v/ found cuck porn that had the guy sound suspiciously similar to him

Yeah, the Death Stranding shit flinging is what made me realize how much of an idiot he is.

Disliking Death Stranding? Fine.
Playing a game wrong and using that footage to make your point? Mentally disabled.
Throwing a hissy fit when people call you out on it? Now that’s a new level of retardation.
