Okay guys I want a sitrep from y'all. Reopenings are starting, the death toll is about 2000 a day now for us yanks, and the state gubments are going through various levels of madness.

What are your honest thoughts about the current situation? Do you think we should still be in quarantine? Do you think the coof is still as deadly as you did before?

I can report that the official position of Virginia residents is TDGAF. Every day I've seen traffic increase steadily and today I actually ran into an honest to God bumper to bumper slow down. The cops also dont seem to care either. They are completely ignoring people congregating in parks. They have not come out and SAID they are ignoring Northams decrees, but they are very clearly ignoring Northams decrees. So much so that our dear leader in his benevolence has decreed we will reopen the State early come next week. How generous of him.

I didn't think we should ever be in quarantine, but I still think it's as deadly as I did before...
...because I was telling everyone it wasn't that deadly back in February. </MATI>

I got on a NYC bus today for the first time since February. I picked up an old Apple keyboard from a fellow Freecycler in Riverdale, which is a nice upper middle-class Jewish neighborhood in the Bronx. I asked about shopping and she directed me to a Key Foods which she said had no lines and was well stocked. I tried looking for rubbing alcohol but the pharmacies were closed but I did pick up a bottle of 195 proof grain alcohol from a liquor store (again no lines). The supermarket limited paper products and milch which is fair imo and I came out with everything I was looking for.

The manager and other employees were great. I felt sorry for them as there were a lot of old folks there (anyone who's worked retail knows what I mean) and of course they were complaining-you can tell some of them haven't done their own shopping in years and this one old lady was berating the manager for not accepting returns.

Everyone wore masks and gloves, same on the bus except on the way home there was lone nigger without a mask coughing, picking his nose and wiping it on his clothes (and he was no hobo, just a young thug living the life). Other than the one imbecile everyone kept their distance.

No way NYC stays locked down past May with everyone obeying Führer Cuomo and his lackey De Blasio. The city is too large and has too many people. The weather is changing and no one will want to stay inside a hot apartment. It's not about the coof being deadly because clearly for some people it is, it's about not living in fear. New Yorkers are a lot of things but scared of life they aren't. Even the old folks were out despite coronoavirus knocking over the elderly.

I'm in Massachusetts and just this past week they decided to up the ante on the draconian measures by pushing out the reopen/loosening date to May 18th (it was originally slated for May 4th.) Our governor's an ass and mandated masks be mandatory out in public and in stores under threat of a $300 fine. Thus far, I don't see it being widely enforced, but that might just be due to where I live in particular.

As it stands, I don't think these lockdowns are even necessary anymore save for maybe New York City. The numbers simply don't add up after they corrected them to reflect on the sudden lack of pneumonia/flu deaths the last two months. Not only that: the coof isn't picking off the healthy or able-bodied like they thought, hydroxychloroquine is continuing to show promise with every passing day despite big pharma/MSM pushback, and very few around me including family members are questioning the excessiveness and timing of it all.

I'm just grateful that I'm still collecting UI since I'm laid off, but the boredom is getting to me and Animal Crossing ain't gonna solve it for long. I actually want to go back to work, but I worry that once my state reopens shit, we're gonna be swimming in double-digit unemployment. It would be a big slap to the face if I don't have a job to go back to after all this is over with.

Good questions.

1) I hate this pandemic. I wish it would end. I don't know what to believe anymore. Some people say it's getting worse, others say it's nothing to worry about. It's only been 2 months since the pandemic came to this country and it already feels like a year has passed.

2) I'm mixed on this. I don't think we need to go the same route as California and New York, but I also don't think it's wise to ignore the pandemic completely. I don't know a good solution though, that's not my area of expertise. I wish I had an answer.

3) I'm not taking any chances with it. I'm staying at home and I go out with a mask when I do need to go out. I also just do normal, common sense hygiene which I hope other people are doing too. I have family who could potentially die from this disease, so I don't want to be the reason they die.

That's my 2 cents.

I live in MA and haven't been fined yet.

My county Sheriff (of a somewhat sizable metropolitan area too, not some rural county that has always flipped the bird to the state government) just came out calling for the lockdowns to be slowly lifted, they were already taking a very hands-off approach to it this whole time and I've seen road traffic increasing every day since the first couple weeks of lockdown here. I'm :optimistic: that if the local government tries to go full draconian with further lockdowns they won't have any teeth to them.

First, the ChiCom Flu kills about as many per week as does heart problems. Cancer kills about 12,500 every week. Heart problems and cancer kill over 100,000 people/month, or 1,200,000/year. Add diabetes, the "regular" flu, strokes, accidents, suicide, homicide, etc and about 3,000,000 Americans die every year, not counting the ChiCom Flu. I put it all in perspective, and my perspective is of one in the highest-risk group.

This quarantine thing has been fucked up beyond recognition. A rational approach would have been to lock down the entire country for two weeks. After that time, the hot spots would be evident. Quarantine those areas plus a buffer zone, let everyone else go back to school/work/living, using precautions. No. We've seen a bunch of little Hitlers on power trips.

Now these geniuses have just realized the taxes aren't coming in. Why not, you fucking dunces? Keep people from working, no income taxes flowing in. People shopping less - fewer sales taxes. Driving less - less gas taxes. People can't stay in hotels. etc, - no occupancy taxes. Oh, they may need to lay people off. Tough fucking shit. Now some overpaid public sector employees are going to see what it's like for way too many private sector employees. Enjoy the unemployment trip. No money from Washington to reinforce these little Hitlers' failure. No passage of ANY tax increases. No passage of ANY bond issues.

You never get fucked as thoroughly as when you fuck yourself. Got a bunch of little Hitlers nationwide just waking up to that. You had it coming to you, you fucks. 🖕

Between the doomer talk and all the fear, uncertainty, and doubt that's being spread, I have no idea what to believe either because it's so difficult to separate the truth from the hype. That why I largely ignore the news for now and prefer the updates from here. The biggest drawback I have with working from home is that the days all blend into each other now so I don't know what day of the week it is any more without checking a calendar.

I also don't think it's wise to ignore the pandemic completely.
I know two people that have died over the past two months possibly from COVID-19. So, the threat is real. It's hard to give it the seriousness it needs and deserves, however, with as many people overhyping it as there are. It ends up being a boy who cried wolf situation. The more the media hype up nothingburgers the less likely people are to take the media seriously when they actually should.

I'm staying at home and I go out with a mask when I do need to go out. I also just do normal, common sense hygiene which I hope other people are doing too. I have family who could potentially die from this disease, so I don't want to be the reason they die.
Agreed. Common sense precautions make sense, and most people can be sold on them. It's the mandating them arbitrarily or unnecessarily that leave people scratching their heads -- the use of masks being one example. Initially, people were told not to wear them and leave them for health care professionals. Now, people are being told masks are mandatory in either certain or all scenarios where one is out in public. Luckily, some places realize masks are difficult to obtain and allow people to make their own or use anything that covers the face/mouth to be used.

A rational approach would have been to lock down the entire country for two weeks. After that time, the hot spots would be evident. Quarantine those areas plus a buffer zone, let everyone else go back to school/work/living, using precautions.
Honestly, this was what I was expecting, too. I also expected more effort to test people to better triage who needed to stay isolated, who could resume normal activities with precautions, and who might be better off working from home due to increased risk.

Hey hey, people! I got hot news and boy are they fucking fun. So I'mma just say right from the start. Welcome to spain!

So. Remember how I talked in a prior post about how Vox has basically resorted to importing outrage by just seeing what those outside bitch about and then acting as if the gov of spain is doing it, usually with very fako photoshops ans doctored docs to feed conspiracy theories? Well. Guess what just happened?

So as I'm sure you noticed people outside of Spain are now starting to notice the insanity of some politicians trying to talk about second waves and how to deal with them. And of course VOX noticed. This is however even more notable than the past times. Why?

Well because the journos had taken note before. And on yesterdays press round they asked Fernando Simon about what would happen in the case of a 2nd wave. And he just straight up said that there's just no fucking way spanish healthcare and defense professionals can take a second lockdown this year. So if there's a second wave we're going in raw. Which is precisely why we're not accelerating the lift exponentially faster. 'Cause if there's a peak we ain't stoping for it. At worst it'd just slow down lift, not revert it.

So when this morning VOX passed on a very, very obviously fake PDF from our army supposedly calling for a "strong lockdown" this autumm for the 2nd wave. Literally no one believed them.

And boy is the pdf fake. I'll link it on this post. It has no official branding except the 2 shields of our land army poorly photoshopped into the header along with a bunch of random aceonyms from it like that somehow would be made that way. It has no signatures. No authors. No marks at all. And it doesn't even identify if it's a press release or an internal communicate or a letter to ministry or anything, instead resorting to one single big blue box saying "USO OFICIAL", (Official Use.), and if you're wondering. No. That blue box isn't usual. On good documents of official use, whatever the kind. You have them labelled before their type (press release, internal com, etc) with "documento de uso oficial", in normal color, just as part of the technical info. Big blue boxes that don't even clasify the pdf as a document are not proper labelling. Obviously.

So yeah the pdf is HILARIOUSLY broken. I mean I guess after seeing the tale of the pippetting lawyer you could think there's never a 0% chance of the guy in charge being insane. But the army is VERY autistic about proper protocols and labels, and they literally have a template for this shit. So it's really really close to 0% and vox sure as shit isn't trustworthy enough after the prior stunts.

So. People have resorted to passing around the document and clips from it, alongside clips from El Risitas. For those who don't know him by the name. Go to mark 4:20 on this video:

Yeah that guy! People have resorted to just using clips of his laugh to represent their opinion on the stunt from Vox. It's turning into a meme again. Fucking love this country. We really did run entirely out of fucks this time.

What are your honest thoughts about the current situation? Do you think we should still be in quarantine? Do you think the coof is still as deadly as you did before?

the virus is dangerous, there’s no doubt about that. But it’s selectively dangerous. The main danger is overwhelm of care capacity and high mortality among certain age and vulnerability groups.
We need to
a.maintain as much normality as possible while b. protecting those groups and
C reducing cases to within our capacity to care for.

c has worked. A and b have failed. We need to remove lockdowns and replace them with sensible public health measures that can continue medium term without too much disruption. By that I mean hand washing, no large gatherings, social distancing. Things people can do long term without too much bother.

A has been a disaster and tanked our economies
B has also been a disaster. We should have had very strict protocols for Old age care homes and the vulnerable.

who h brings me into another question someone asked a while back. Why is the excess death toll higher than accounted for with COVID?
Well, GPs were not going In to care homes and doing the many consults they usually do. Virtually everyone in a care home is there because they need that kind of attention,
People are also dying at home from stuff they should and would normally have sought help for.
So that excess? That’s partially deaths caused by the lockdown itself. Some will be corona deaths that weren’t picked up., but a lot will be people who didn’t go to hospitals when they should have.

Everyone wore masks and gloves, same on the bus except on the way home there was lone nigga without a mask coughing, picking his nose and wiping it on his clothes (and he was no hobo, just a young thug living the life). Other than the one imbecile everyone kept their distance.

I live in a big city, too: blacks and certain Boomers are the only ones not wearing masks and avoiding social distancing. I saw a fat black man chimping out at a convenience store because the clerks and security guard threw him out for not wearing a mask. Whenever I go to a fast food place, some young thug nigga will always barge in and order food without proper precaution. I swear, they're barely human.

The tests come in individual packages and are single use. And while the pippetes are also disposable they don't come in individual packages. So they're less safe. And even if they were adding extra unneeded steps is always considered a source of added risk.
you dont use those throw away pippetes without sterilizing them first? thats a paddle.

You mean like germany has done and is doing? active cases under 20k deaths still well below 10k. gatherings are still not allowed, the lock down was never as bad as in other countries with alot of factories staying open and more and more businesses beeing allowed to open in some form.
there is nothing in short supply right now and the only items that were shortly in short supply were toiletpaper and yeast and those shortages were on the supermarket and shipping side not on the production side, with new shipments coming in every day just to be sold out rather quickly. the issue was fixed after 2 weeks and the amount of those items on shelves is pretty high right now.

With andalusia rushing to reopen and everyone else rushing to meet their pace, spain will be accepting tourism soon enough. And I seriously doubt we'll be picky against the brits. I'd say by september it'll be fine. Also if you're coming to andalusia I can try to give some tips if you tell me the area by PM. Have fun!
I need a tip on how to get some spanish booze. the brandy prices made a jump after the shut down in spain and i realy need a couple of new bottles.
