Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Is there a name for a male Karen? I'm not seeing too many Karens, but a lot of boomer white dudes in Jimmy Buffett tees that are in a constant state of being indignant over occupancy limits in stores, things being out of stock, spaced out lines, etc. Not wearing masks, in visibly shaky health, coughing into hands and then touching everything, taking out their frustrations on store workers...
His name is Rick and I will suffer no disagreement.

Reporting from what Brother DeSantis tells us is God’s Waiting Room, the Olds at Publix have reduced their mask usage significantly. But, I have not observed anyone throwing fits. Salons and such can open back up starting tomorrow, but lol last week I was picking up lunch and the dog groomer in the strip mall was doing a merry business anyway. Please let gyms be next.

Don Quixote is common in high school/college. But try reading La Celestina when the only Spanish you know is from your HS teacher or the Mexicans around you. Not easy readin'.

Oy vey you forgot “If you prick us, do we not bleed? if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison us, do we not die? and if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?" when the 7-11 pajeet overcharges you for a pack of cigarettes.

Ah yes. How could I forget The Tragicomedy Of Calisto And Melibea. Aka "what if Romeo and Juliet was written by someone with a really fucked up sense of humor?" And now that I think of it I also forgot Captain Alatriste, which is really fucking good so I gotta recommend that one.

Come to think of it this might explain a lot about how ready we are to assume clownworld will find a way. You look at the most famous genres in classic spanish literature: tragicomedia, esperpento, novela picaresca, satira... They're all just basically the ancient versions of internet meme shit. El Quijote was just Pepe for the middle ages. Meanwhile you bastards get to read tragedies and dramas. God that must get boring.

Best part of IU is that it's conversion changes depending on the substance being measured. So 1000 IU of Vitamin A isn't the same as 1000 IU of Vitamin D.

With "IU" you mean International Units? If so. Do they not just mark it as mg, ng, ug etc? 'Cause that's what the IUs are you know.

Yeah knowing what every vitamin should get in grams is a pain in the ass but that's for all chemistry. Think of it this way. Every chemical in your body has a range between X and Y grams per liter of blood at which it should stay. Less than that and you're fucked. More you're fucked too. For every chemical it is a different range. For every person they have a different bodymass and blood volume so that also changes how much they gotta take to get to that range.

Is this a pain? Oh yes. Yes. But no unit can really fix it. You gotta just grab the list and check yourself really. This is a problem not just for vitamins but also many medicines. Either way I hope they're marking which of the IUs they use for every chemical. 'Cause if not they're being even more obtuse innecessarily.

And the wokest will use this story to show why we have to say locked down forever and how anyone protesting lockdowns is a white supremicist who hates poor blacks, even though shit like this is entirely preventable and has fuckall to do with whether non-essential businesses open up or not.

Like @teriyakiburns I'm also a little tipsy and there's something about the lockdown rhetoric that bothers me that I don't feel like I can talk about elsewhere without mincing my words.

You have these financially comfortable middle class authoritarian lefties using the poor, the elderly and "POCs" as shields for why it's unethical to reopen, but the truth is that the most vulnerable are still going to be in the exact same position regardless of any lockdown lifts, unless those areas get the specific attention they need. Opening hair salons and office buildings doesn't change what's happening in the nursing homes/meat packing plants/tenements etc

These assholes are narcing on people walking in the park with their kids without a mask on, when that's not where the goddamned problem is.

They use the most vulnerable as nothing more than a tool to advance their own desires. And they call it the humanist stance.

They're convincing themselves it's about protecting the most downtrodden, but it's really about how they don't want to go back to work themselves. If it was about the migrant workers and prisoners and eldery they'd atleast be offering ideas on what can be done to protect them.

My friend in California (of course) posted this article about how Trump stopped thinking of the coronavirus as an emergency when he found out it was mostly killing the elderly and poor blacks. It got 118 likes. I was the only person who made a response and I asked "what needs to be done to help the people who are the most vulnerable to this disease?" and I didn't even get a single half assed answer, just a bunch of "heart" responses. This is exactly what people mean by "virtue signalling".

This is why even though I am ostensibly "left" in many ways, I am absolutely disgusted with "the left" these days. They don't give a shit about anything but saving their own asses even though they go above and beyond to pretend like they're the ones tending to the disenfranchised.

I know this is autistic, but as a "low wage essential worker" who they claim to be speaking for, it pisses me off. There's nothing wrong with looking out for yourself and your family, you don't have to cloak it under the false pretence that it's about protecting anyone else.

Every time I hear how the left voters think over there I weep. Good times really do cause weak men. You tell lefties over here we're just gonna ignore the economic collapse and they get flashbacks to 2008 and 2012 and are the first to call you out on the bullshit.

If someone I knew told me that I would be out-autismoing them to hell and back. The sheer level of insanity on display is heartbreaking.

Still bad at math but am I wrong for thinking why does the USA have more deaths than recoveries compared to everywhere else? What's up with that?

I'd guess lack of testing seeing how hard the spike hit you. That and the combo of overreporting deaths as COVID (which was also done here before we started to have sufficient tests... at least outside Barcelona for some fucking reason) and the deaths caused by the multiple fuckups in hospital care and residences we've seen. Which are being hidden as covid when truth is they were caused by not using the appropiate treatment because certain hospitals aren't using O2, are using excessive ventilators, are actively ignoring cloroquine because trump while using remdesivir which HAS A LOWER SUCCESS RATE THAN PLACEBO. And you know. Also Cuomo filled the residences with disease carriers because he wanted a new batch of democratic voters.

The numbers are being faked. They are not confirming deaths anymore. If you have died in the past month or so and they had a "reasonable assumption that COVID19 helped cause it" then it's a COVID19 death.

BE AFRAID WE HAVE AN ELECTION TO WIN

I don't think it's deliberate faking as much as a massive amount of conflicting interests, genuine idiocy and criminal negligence. But you really do have an ellection to win. Also, seriously, you at the very least need to try to find a way to get your hospitals to be controlled better. The spanish way of pitting technocraticly elected directives with democratically elected unions may be clownworld incarnate but at least it does put a stop to the actual physical damage. I'm sure other states have come with other versions of these checks and balances, so maybe those are more to your taste. Personally I love ours because even at their worst at least I'll be damned if they're not entertaining. But you know. I heard over there you prefer not having massive autistic slapfights rutinely. I guess this is one of the advantages of not owning a gun. Some days I feel like I could kill those bastards for being this stupid, but I can't because I'm a weak, fat bastard and a knife ain't gonna do the trick. God knows what would happen if our autists were armed.

That one's probably because of Data Protection law. I heard Canada's is on par with the EU's, and honestly you should see the tism fits our jurists are having over how much intel about the patients we can release over here because of that fucking mess. Patient intel is usually near sacred. Only given with all identifying information scratch to scientists making authorized papers for them to further erase all unneeded info just in case. So having these kinda stats released on the dayly with so little oversight is a lawyer's nightmare. It's basically begging for a class action lawsuit. Which is why here we've only gotten some reports from some areas at times. So I'm not saying it ain't Big Brainage. I'm saying the Big Brainage was done when that piece of shit law was written, not now when the result becomes apparent.

Was this posted? A search didn't turn it up. It is an article in German paper Der Spiegel that claims the following:

which translates to...

According to the BND, China has urged the World Health Organization (WHO) to delay a global warning after the outbreak of the virus at the highest level. On January 21, China's leader Xi Jinping asked WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to hold back information about a human-to-human transmission and to delay a pandemic warning.

WHO of course denies: https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...p-phone-call-between-xi-jinping-and-dr-tedros

In Canada though the Lockdown measures have stifled it down. Free Range was a doubling of around 3-4 days with lockdown measures its more like 8-10 days so at least that says something. A lot of old people are dying in old folks homes which is sad. ill provide some graphs.

Lockdown is working the drop off is not magic its because most Canadians are sucking the government cock and being careful.

With these numbers filing in and its looking good we should expect to see restrictions lifted very soon, who knew abiding by what out masters say will wind up making for an earlier open then other places in the world.

One thing with the UK is that they aren't properly recording recoveries like most places, so it's hard for people to see that people DO record from it.

It’s cute that you think Trudeau is going to lift restrictions based on data.

What's this post-apocalyptic styled mask that the King of Jordan is wearing?

Even the son is wearing one.

They must be sure they work.

The stats in canada are the same as everywhere else. Rural areas doing great. Megacities getting fucked. Which is why in spain rural areas already reopened while megacities are being told to ask next week.

This is why in america, rural areas, which are also doing great, are rioting as they're being told to keep locked for no fucking reason. Ain't got nothing to do with obedience. You're just being a twat. Not to mention the high grade autism both american states and trudeau are passing on as part of emergency powers for no fucking reason. I sure as shit wouldn't be obeying a certain cuban dictator's illegitimate son after that bullshit. But if there's one thing you canucks are great at its obeying way past the point of common sense.

As for germany, where the big cities are also rioting due to lockdowns. Makes perfect fucking sense. They already are doing better than everywhere. The risk is long gone. Healthcare was reinforced and the old folks homes quarantined. No fucking sense in keeping this draconian shit up. They sure as shit obeyed when was necessary. It's not anymore. Warms my little heart to see our friendly krauts learn to protest. At this pace they might even learn to defend their freedom. Baby steps... oh and if you think Trudeau will stop his powertrip just because it stops making sense. Ahahahahahahhaha yeeeah no.

Neoprene masks. They were designed for sports fans. They're supposedly designed to be reusable. Honestly I don't trust them and prefer to use the regular shit but hey if it works it works.

Glad to see the great white north's numbers at least going down, however I don't think the lockdown is/was working in Quebec. Quebec had a massive spike in cases recently(MAY8 ) probably in one of the shit retirement homes. Add to that the employment rate in Quebec is around 17%

EDIT: removed emoji

I get that, but these seem to have replaceable filters built-in. Also, look at the length (particularly in the second photo).. there must be other things going on inside. They're chunky masks.

Quebec does its own thing for fuck sakes they are separatists look at what happens in comparison to the rest of Canada. Keep it up K-bek.

Ok that's UNemployment rate. For a second I thought only 17% were employed and boy... boooooy that would be something.

They are literally called neoprene masks. I've seen them over here. The supposed going on is that indeed the filter is replaceable by being on a structure like the one on the rigid masks and "darth vader" masks. And reason they're even chunkier is that supposedly the neoprene layers got something inbetween to stop the viri but allow for perfect temperature exchange and let you breathe easier and let sweat transpire.

Shit is. In my experience. If a mask lets you breathe fine. And doesn't get the sweat stuck on your face. And lets temperature fully unopposed... That ain't stopping the virus, buddy. And being that bulky and with that shit inbetween I don't know if I trust them to be properly cleaned through regular means.

Then again I haven't used them so maybe they do what they should and just don't do what they claim. In which case they're just really bullky and dumb looking masks. Either way the hospital ain't buying them and I'm hapier for it.

So I'm waiting for shit to shit the fan in the housing market in the next few weeks.

10 homes on my street have had a primary breadwinner laid off in the last week. People in office jobs who businesses are downsizing or just cutting their workforce. Their kids were mostly retail workers who got hit weeks ago.

The morgage branch workers at banks have to be on suicide watch right now.

I've got my stocks of the vitabiotics 1000IU . It's been out of stock for ages though, along with a few other top end immune support choices. There are always alternatives though. Good to know I'm not hitting any risky upper limit. I know you're generally safe with C and and the other water soluble ones, but was a bit concerned about the D.

Situation report on masks in my part of UK - Nobody's wearing them, because masks are gay and stupid.
Went shopping yesterday, and saw one old bloke looking stupid in a mask , and that was it. They have turned M&S into a labyrinth though , which was fun. Enter by one door, navigate the single path through the pants and socks to get to the food hall, then escape with your delicious haul.

Bored of this now.

At Waitrose they had a one-in one-out policy, and a massive queue to get in. They also had a policy of letting NHS staff with ID go straight to the front of the queue.

With only one person leaving every couple of minutes, and a steady stream of NHS staff continually turning up, this meant that the main queue never bloody moved.

If their goal was to make everyone waiting absolutely loathe NHS workers: mission accomplished.

NY has extended its PAUSE order until June 6th unless a region can meet criteria. (archive)

I'm not surprised, but I'm growing weary of this bullshit.

To be fair, nothing has changed. He has been saying for weeks now that if a region didn't hit numbers on 5/15, then PAUSE would be extended. All he did was dictatorially give himself the authority to do that.

Went to Walmart yesterday. Meat wiped out. Also a lot of other holes on the shelves too. Everyone has masks, but a lot of people ignoring the one way floor decals. Another thing, they've closed all the bottle return machines at every Walmart and grocery store in my town. I get that people can't socially distance there, but shouldn't that be my choice? What the fuck am I supposed to do with all these bottles?

Yeah, Otterly posted info about how meat packing plants are historically plague factories. If any of the essential workers need legit PPE and extreme sanitation protocol it's going to be there.

I haven't heard much about farm workers, but it is probably a good idea to keep an eye on that too, maybe it won't be as bad because they're outdoors, but many of those workers live in crowded housing together so it may be a problem too.

I can imagine there being some smaller second waves involving areas where people who work in these places live, best to try and nip that shit in the bud as much as you can.
To be honest, I think it might be the carpooling. Hear me out. Lots of people carpool here at my plant. 3-4 people to a car. They can isolate at home/work all they want, but if one gets sick they all do. Seen it time and time again.

Quebec does its own thing for fuck sakes they are separatists look at what happens in comparison to the rest of Canada. Keep it up K-bek.
Kekbec is widely known for their mismash of "French", hating the rest of Canada, and making sure the rest of Canada is paying them. For being a bunch of seperatists, they realized that their only exports are insanity and maple syrup.

So the only real megacity in canada is basically your version of Barcelona. And it is given most of the ellectoral power and pandered as hard as Madrid. And they have the highest unemployment rate.

I am surprised Canada isn't constantly on fire.
