Furry Fandom and Drama General

Its developer has a thread. I have not looked much at it other than to note that the links in the OP are broken, though I imagine someone in the thread has likely done a write-up on the game. If they have not, feel free to take one for the team.
Here's what I remember about Major/Minor. Klace is this popufur with rich parents who decides he's going to be a game developer, and he instantly makes a SFW visual novel. That already was the first trouble sign because nobody cares about SFW visual novels, only ones they can fap to.

The game came out and Klace ended up drawing the attention of 8chan's /furry/ board. Now /furry/ was interesting because they were somewhat of a weird intersection between channers and furries, and unlike /trash/ there was a lot of furry drama discussion going on there. They also had their own pet lolcows, and Klace's game put him up there with Jasonafex and Kayla-Na as a constant thread target of disdain. As for how much disdain, the thread OP linked a now archived thread about the game and I attached one photo from the thread that compiled his bad behavior (in high res image compilation format).

But here's the short version of it. Klace loves attention and became infamous in his local area's furry circles for being a massive attention whore. Klace self inserted his fursona into the video game he made (as a famous pop star no less), and then created a Steam background of said fursona. The game itself was just a mediocre VN, with the story being a total Persona ripoff as well without any of the things that made the Persona games famous such as gameplay and quality writing. It got negative reviews on Steam and Klace got angry about it (and possibly posting fake reviews in the process). And then there was the Sergal incident:

I heard stories about character theft and them deleting any sort of criticism from the Steam pages.
I'm not so sure about the character theft thing, but there was drama with a Sergal character being inserted into a copyrighted work without permission of the creator of the species. The idea was that random furries who paid/were pals with the dev (I forget) would have their fursonas in it or something and one of them was a Sergal. Klace got told to pay up by the creator of Sergals and he refused to.

He also plagiarized photographs he found online for backgrounds without crediting them.

Anyhow a few months go by and Klace became forgotten about. He rereleased Major/Minor a year or so later as a "complete edition" with few bad reviews but then worked on a new game called Winds of Change. That's a game that nobody has cared about aside from underage furries on shitty Discord servers and Amino. He's faded into irrelevancy for a good reason.

The Furry Broadcast thing has vintage 2017 Furry Raiders drama attached to it.

It was started by some brony calling himself Shadowpony or ShadowLeRawr. He joined the Furry Raiders and promised to use his nonexistent fan base to help them promote a secretly Raiders run furry convention. It would be a big gay trap where everyone would go have a big gay party, and after it was done, they would announce the Raiders ran it, winning a standing ovation while Uncle Kage bowed down to blow them for it.

Don't blow the secret!

Well, that got around so they said fuck it and went with it.

It got a predictably withering response, so they moved on to shitting diapers and calling it a community.

I'm still not sure what they broadcast or why, but who cares when they keep making tard cum.
No wonder the Furry Raiders never got anything done, they were spread thinner than the Roman fucking Empire with all this gay ops nonsense.

For reference, are you sure it was the creator, or some random faggot saying shit? Because Trancy is almost nonexistent in this sort of gig since she's got the obvious language barrier.
Yeah, this. There's a very good chance someone just trolled his ass by pretending to be the copyright holder.

This is something I've noticed. Lots of furries who rack up characters tend to do just that with them, or maybe use them to get some RP partners online. I've even seen more interesting characters get used for just porn fodder anyhow. But then again how many furries these days actually come up with anything story wise?
People come into the fandom with some kind of creative works or at least D&D experience, so when they're told "RP", they imagine actual roleplay. They may create a story or background or at least just likes/dislikes, but as soon as the porn stars rolling in they quit bothering with it. I remember being around what felt like the prime furry generation given how things evolved (and they're now all self-diagnosed, groomed trannies), and they exactly went from a personal character to whatever their friends wanted to fuck at the time. Friendship was the gateway to making one another get characters befit certain kinks and that's about it.

The whole idea of adoptables basically solidifies that idea. Outside the overly detailed pastel shit no one else would want to draw, they're always just one-note kink creations. "Thicc mommy dragon uwu" and alike. If -anyone- puts actual effort and thought into an OC at this point, they've steered clear of the fandom in doing so.

Many characters also exist specifically to be fursuits. Very few people want to be mistaken for somebody else while suited, so fursuits do whatever they can to look unique. This usually means having weird color prints, markings, and insignia. In a few cases, it can also mean smelling like damnation.

Don't forget the neckerchiefs!

So many neckerchiefs. And 90% of them with the same paw symbol on the front.

What I have never really understood is how people get into the community aspect of furries.
Can one even draw their art without being into the weird sub culture aspect?

That's usually the case with people who draw anthros, call themselves 'anthro artists', but still have a fursona and all that.
They tend to just enjoy the art but avoid the other stuff.

I guess that is the most sane thing to do. For me it was always weird to not being able enjoy anything online without being put in weird categories.

I had heard that back in the early days of the mucks, Elaborate and character driven role-play used to be common, And that these days, it’s never anything more than trying to pick someone up for textfuck.

My source on this also said that you could make a drinking game out of looking at the character descriptions and spotting all of the details and old story hook type elements that are completely unused and forgotten, as nobody cares about anything else anymore then a easy lay.

I've got a friend who's always complaining about people approaching his character on F-list with female characters, even though his character's profile specifies in multiple places that his character is 100% gay and not interested in women. Furries don't even read the sexual bits, they just look at the name and the picture and go "yeah, I wanna fuck that".

I mean, have you played Major/Minor? If so, do you REALLY want furries to try to write anything.
I would think that the furries who are huge media consumers would be able to make quality stories, worlds and games for themselves. Also the stock "totally not a fursuit" designs on that game's steampage.

Why do they have to regress to this style?
For some reason it's so easy to pick out the stereotypically furry game from the anthro games. (In a way it reminds me of the early 2000s DeviantArt anime style.)

I mean there are some furries/anthro artists who do some really interesting, somewhat niche projects; they just don't often get adequate support to get off the ground or get mired down with shit that gets popular because it panders to horny furry consumers rather than those interested in story media. I personally recommend checking out Crown of Leaves, although I don't think it's very far into full development yet; last I looked only the first chapter is out on Steam and there are a few minor bugs and hiccups that I recall.

Being more illustratory/cartoony certainly helps it look way better than the other example.

Do we have a list of cons (at least in the US) who have cancelled so far? It's the final part of the Con Drama thread but I haven't even begun research on it yet. Probably just gonna go back to February in this thread and work my way back up

Not sure how accurate this is, but it’s a start I guess.

I've added in a link to the new con drama thread in the OP. Since this thread is several hundred pages and nearly hitting page 800, if there's anything drama wise worth adding into the thread OP let me know.

Seems like Growly out of jail and has been active on Twitter for a bit. Not a whole lot of people interacting with his tweets past this and a lot of “drama is bad!” “dont judge others off rumors!” retweeting.
