SECRET SOCIETY

Like Billy Mitchell is part of some retro video game illuminati, as if he were a exceptional version of the cigarette smoking man from X-Files trying so hard to bury the truth about his MAME score.

This lolsuit has potential.
Except that Twin Galaxies is actually literally pizzagate:
Ron Corcoran is in prison for fucking his own daughter. And it went on for a very long time. Corcoran is not the only sex offender who has been a Ref at Twin Galaxies, either. There have been well known competitors who have done significant time for sex offences, too. More than I can list here. Shocking but true.

1988: Ned Troide, Twin Galaxies competitor featured in the "famous" Time Life Photo, helped abduct, beat and gang rape a 24-year old woman, then tied a weight around her neck and threw her body off a bridge over a bay, thinking she'd die. She lived and put him behind bars.

2002: Steven Krogman, friend of Corcoran's, served a lengthy sentence in prison for sexually assaulting a minor female beginning when she was 12-years old and possession of child pornography. That didn't bother Twin Galaxies' Walter Day and Billy Mitchell, though. They allowed him to be filmed from prison for his part in 2007's "The King of Kong". They were still giving him public awards at events until a couple years ago. Twin Galaxies finally kicked him off their forum a year ago, but only after significant public backlash.

2007: Another Twin Galaxies centered documentary, "Chasing Ghosts", found Berzerk champion, Ron Bailey, being arrested in 2007 for several charges of sexual molestation on several grade school age boys who claim he assaulted them when he was their coach. Bailey is serving what constitutes a life sentence in prison. That's how bad this case was.

2009: Lonnie Cancionne, friend of Corcoran's (see the connection yet?) was arrested for chasing naked after women in public and masturbating. Served time.

Yeah, I was posting the Apollo video more as an update rather than an endorsement of it. Personally, I think it's a waste of money. Only the one guy, Dwayne Richard, even has potential for a case, and it's still almost definitely not making it to trial.

Everyone involved would have to descend into pure retardation and probably financially ruin themselves for that to happen.

Everyone involved would have to descend into pure exceptionalism and probably financially ruin themselves for that to happen.
This is a case involving someone who had a character based off of him in Pixels suing Twin fucking Galaxies in current year, as well as a speedrunning youtuber because said YouTuber thought he was using an arcade cabinet emulator. All bets about exceptionalism are off.

And those are the people Mitchell associate with. Trash.

Honestly surprised the list isn't longer. Most of the people in KoK look like they should be doing the Sex Offender Shuffle.

Well now that Nick weighed in Billy Mitchell is going to not only win his lawsuit but probably get crowned king of arcade games and his hot sauce business will rocket towards success, if I've learned anything about Reiketa in the past 2 weeks.

That sounds absolutely horrific. How would one survive such a thing?

They ask you for the input logs and video footage, don't know if stream counts

Yeah, it isn't about cheating. If the problem with emulators was that they couldn't prove you didn't cheat, then they wouldn't have a leaderboard at all.

They separate them because inconsistencies can occur between the two versions. It's a common problem with emulation, even today. Speedrun.com allows the communities for each game to decide whether to separate them or not, but TG separates them. I know there have been discussions about merging leaderboards for certain games on TG, but I don't think they ever have.

New Dwyane Richard video about the lawsuit. Non-update about how things are happening but him and Apollo have to go quiet. Also some lunacy shit about not being suicidal, like how people do in a movie when they think someone is going to Epstein them.

Having been subbed to Richards for a while, he deletes stuff so: Archive Everything

The problem with emulation is accuracy, purist still (and have reasons) to not trust MAME to much because even the way the game boot is totally different, but MAME iirc begin to be accepted for a separate board because it was becoming difficult to find working machines and the rules for MAME submissions are even more strict that using actual hardware the list is very very descriptive about it

All submissions MUST include the .INP and video footage directly uploaded to Twin Galaxies. Failure to include either in your submission will invalidate your submission.

AUTOFIRE IS NOT ALLOWED! [There are 0 exceptions barring it being an in game feature that is NOT controlled by Dip Switches] Use of it will result in your score being automatically rejected. This means ALL external sources for Autofire [such as joysticks] and ANY Dip Switches that turn on Autofire.

All Mame Submissions are 1 Shot attempts! This means when you make a recording, your 1st attempt is what counts. If you think you sucked, or died too easily or any number of wonderful things, please note that you can simply hit Escape to stop recording and then choose to record again. This is due to the fact that unlike a linear digital recording, there is no means to rewind an .INP file..and even Fast Forwarding is a chore if you're 12th attempt is the one you completely dominate the world at, but it took 8 hours of playing in the recording to get to it.

If present, NVRAM should be deleted before recording as any NVRAM use is disallowed. It is also recommended that submitters rename their .INP and .WLF files in the following manner, if possible: Initials-RomName-Score

Under no circumstances should someone submit an .INP or .WLF file that is not their own. Submitters discovered doing this may receive a lifetime ban from Twin Galaxies.

Please make sure you read the settings for each game AND Use the correct Romset! Using the incorrect romset will result in your score being rejected. Using the incorrect settings will also result in your score being rejected.

It is the TG MAME policy that playback speeds should retain a minimum speed of 95%. If ever there is an exception to this ruling, it will be posted in the game's track rules settings.

Twin Galaxies has a general policy on keyboard mapping which allows at our discretion a player to map movement and action/fire keys as one.

Generally we allow this for titles such as, but not limited to, dual-joystick games. If you're unsure if this is permissible for a specific title, please feel free to consult the Twin Galaxies forum community and they will do their best to help you.

Please make sure that you are using Frame Skip 0 and have the "Draw All Frames" option in use. Automatic Frameskipping is a rejectable offense as it creates playback issues.

For specific titles where you MUST go into a Service Menu for settings, all settings must be changed according to the rules specified in the specific score track you are submitting for or your score may be invalidated. This includes and is not only limited to, Williams games, Neo Geo games, later CPS2 titles where there are no dip switches.

For games that have a BIOS file, [Neo Geo, for example] please leave the Bios settings at the default settings. [Configurable in the GUI versions] If ever there is a game that DOES require a change from this, information will specifically be provided in the game track rules settings.
All MAME submissions are expected to follow all generally accepted and announced TG gaming guidelines during commission of your gameplay...no cheat codes, no turbo controllers, no glitch-abuse or non-approved hunting/leeching tactics, etc.

This all could be avoided if Billy just admited that he used MAME instead of sperging so hard

It's pretty obvious he cheated on top of using MAME, if the tapes for his king of kong score are anything to go by (like the times where his score is obscured by static and when it comes back it's inexplicably significantly higher than before). He submitted it as a real hardware score specifically to skirt the stricter MAME scrutiny.

The worst part of his deceit I think it was the audio issue , MAME had problems to emulate the sound of Donkey Kong so if he delivered footage it would be a dead giveaway, he ignored this by saying that the capture card approved by TG did not have a way to capture audio, then you see the card and it has a big ass audio jack on it

Apollo has cancelled the Gofundme for the defamation suit against Billy, all donors are refunded.
Not sure if he realized it would be a lot more expensive than $10K, or if he realized that it's about as much of a long shot as Billy's lolsuit.

Apollo got a second opinion from Twin Galaxies' attorney, who said that they don't have a case.

The issue seems to be that people are treating his (apparently obvious) use of MAME as actual cheating, even though it doesn't mean he cheated, and he's refusing to admit something that appears pretty obvious, because it would be tantamount to admitting cheating, but nobody has explained how (unless he actually was cheating) he actually got any advantage out of using an emulator. For all I know, it could have actually made it more difficult.

They were entirely justified in removing his records, though, if he didn't do them on an actual original system, as the rules require. It may be, though, that he didn't actually cheat, as such, other than in a strictly technical sense.

That's the thing: he didn't follow rules, hid information, has very doubious tapes and refuses to address any criticism except by saying "It's original hardware". He had ample time to address everything, and he didn't. He dropped scores on leaderboards he had no rights to be on. Therefore, he cheated to get his fame.

It might not be cheating in the sense video editing, cheat codes, glitches (twin galaxies cares about those)... It's cheating in the sense of rulebreaking.

The advantage of using an emulator is that you can save your progress as you play. Playing on MAME gave Billy the ability to endlessly replay each stage until he got the score he desired. There would've been very little prestige in setting the record on MAME because of how easy it would be to cheat.

Apollo Legend released a video explaining that he shut down his gofundme for a counter suit after consulting with Twin Galaxies‘ lawyer:

TLDW: a real lawyer told him he has a much weaker case than he thought since a lot of Billy’s defamatory statements are in his legal filings. Rather than get taken for a ride by his first choice of lawyer and waste everyone’s money, he’s going to focus on his defense, thus clearing the exceptionally low bar of proving that he’s smarter than George Ouzounian.
