Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Our founders would be stacking bodies by now.

Americans are violent by nature, period. American history provides a ton of examples of people taking direct action when they believed they had no other way to get redress for their grievances. And many Americans taking direct action don't care how many casualties they cause.

Have been surprised to hear of so little violence so far. Could be that the nationwide demonstrations, coupled with court and Justice Department actions, have been just enough to prevent widespread violence. But am very concerned re Los Angeles. They had six or seven major riots there during the 20th century. Under the right conditions, doesn't seem to take much to get the bullets flying and fires starting. Am also concerned of the prospect of Timothy McVeigh-style action against certain state capitols. Am not inciting anyone to violence, just stating observations and opinions.

Let's be serious. No matter what we do, there will be X number of people who will get the ChiCom Flu, and Y number who will die from it. Don't believe that has sunk in at certain little tinpot dictators' offices, just like the obvious drop in tax collections never came into these geniuses' heads when they put their entire states on house arrest. Long past time to lift these house arrests. Needs to be done before the people lift the house arrests on their own. And should another wave come this fall, no more house arrests. Use precautions and common sense. The country would face very serious problems going through another bout of widespread house arrests.

We need to recover economically and get the country back on track. Nobody gets out of life alive. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed to any of us. One mark of intelligence is the ability to take educated, calculated risks. Sadly, got too many utter dumbshits on power trips out there.

Found two interesting articles in this general direction on Reason today. May have already posted them. If I did, my bad. Always prefer to try too hard than not hard enough.

Added: Seems like some retail workers are taking the brunt of people's refusal to wear masks. Just found this on MSN. Not cool.

The interesting thing about the US is the way the Democrat states seem to pro indefinite lockdown while the Republican ones seem to be opening up. If you look at the protests they had Trump signs. And Trump cheekily tweeted out "Liberate X" where X was a state with a Democrat governor where people protested. I mean he complained about Georgia which has a Republican governor lifting the lockdown too early too, but that's just standard triangulation.

Trump's weirdly loose and chaotic way of doing politics seems to work a lot better than Boris Johnson's 'listen to the experts'. The problem is that expert opinion swung very heavily pro lockdown when Ferguson's report came out and doesn't seem to have moved much as new evidence emerged that lockdowns don't really work and the death toll Ferguson came out with for the virus was a wild overestimate.

As Delingpole put it here (archive) also attached MP3, Ferguson 'turned out to be a devious shagger'. I'd be amazed if Dolan's judicial review works though - by the time the court hears it the government will probably have lifted most of the lockdown measures and the court will find the ones that remain to be proportional given the public health risk. And even if they don't the government will just loosen them a tad to be compliant with whatever the court decides. And if this guy has millions and lives in Monaco why does he need to crowdfund?

Still it is an interesting conversation, not least because Dolan muses as to whether the details of Ferguson's devious shagging might not have been leaked to the Telegraph, a Tory paper, by the Tories because they'd decided to throw him under the bus prior to lifting the lockdown. Something he'd presumably have otherwise denounced as a people will die policy.

Our founders would be stacking bodies by now.

What signify a few lives lost in a century or two.

It might erupt in Michigan, and violence will definitely happen in California if the major shithole cities demand infinite lockdowns. LA is locked down forever now. It has no end date.

How long until California starts demanding the rest of the country bring them food and iphones so they can continue their foreverquarantine? This is how you end up with scifi dystopias. Megacity 1 vs the great unwashed Farmer Hordes.

Oregon is opening up pretty much everything except maybe nightclubs in all but the 3 counties in the greater Portland area today, and even there non-essential non-mall retail stores are allowed to open up as long as they can keep enough space between people. And Oregon's lockdown was way more permissive than most places to start with.

Hey. News time. First the walk. Today I just went barefoot so I could forget about fixing the damned shoes. I went about as far as my body could take me and faster than I think I've ever gone. I almost made it to torregorda. I didn't care. I enjoyed every second of it. The trip back not so much but when I felt like I couldn't take it anymore I sat to drink some water with the night's breeze so... It was great honestly. After my meltdown this morning I needed this more than ever. When I came back my legs felt like they were about to burst with the worst muscle laces of my life and I'm fairly sure I wrecked my soles again. I do not give a single fuck though. Worth it. Absolutely worth it. I NEEDED exhaustion. I needed this.

Taking into account that I got home by midnight it was surprising just how many people I met all the way through both going and clming and all over the paseo maritimo. The city is bursting with life like it never was before. I hope it stays that way. I like meeting people. Even if it's for short periods of time or even just seeing them. Reminds me I'm not alone. With the lockdown some days Cadiz looked dead. I don't want to see it like that anymore. Not ever again. Fuck this lockdown so much. I get it was needed at first. But it still hurt, damnit.

Nqtional news. Madrid, most of barcelona and parts of Castille Leon stay on phase 0, some islands go to phase 2, everyone else is still phase 1. This is however partially lies because now phase 0 has been edited to basically be what phase 1 was but without reopening bars and reunions of more than 10 for non-work shit. Phase 1 had been edited to reopen even more shit. And phase 2 is basically what before was called phase 3 which is to say total lift. Except it's not total lift because they still have like the slightest of bans only on superlarge crowds like live concerts. So really. Everything moved up 1 or 2 levels irl. They just call it that way for some fucking reason.

See that right there is how I felt today about the protest. Like at first you get the message "bill gates is an asshole, trump is right for fighting him and other assholes like him." And it's like yeah alright. And then she starts talking about bowling assassinations being related to vaccines... And then goes even crazier.

Same shit this morning. At first "anti lockdown protests" ok I can get behind that. And suddently they start claiming Sanchez is trying to declare the third spanish republic (somehow), that Iglesias bioengineered the virus in venezuela specifically because he wanted to cause the lockdowns (for some reason), and that science is a satanic cult. And it's like "hol' up. Wanna run that by me one more time? How the fuck did we reach that conclusion again?" Just... Can people not just be normal for once?!

CIVIL WAR 2.0 LETS GO

The other horrifying conclusion: if/when another major infectious disease happens, who is going to want to listen tot he government? They've cried wolf over Zika and the Ebola outbreaks in Africa, now this? If there was another disease as fatal as the Spanish flu or the Bubonic plague, nobody would listen until the bodies paves the streets in congealed diseased blood.

Trust in the government has hit an all time low, and is working on the pneumatic drill as we speak. November is gonna be an absolute SHITSHOW.

When society shifts into reverse, no matter the reason, it is never a pleasant experience, and it always bathes in the blood of the innocent along the way.

It's called a Boogaloo. (Note: the boogaloo memes stand for "civil war 2. Gun rights boogaloo.", they started because of the weapons bans. But at this point... yeah.

California is an easy problem to solve. Just let Arizona and Nevada turn off the water and electricity. The problem quickly solves itself.

They didn’t have as much free porn last century.

Here's a mighty good article re contact tracing, the many opportunities for abuse, and some Nazi shit the state of Washington's little Hitler wants done.

Observation: If 'they" call, tell them nothing. If you have a phone that displays callers, should you be able to tell it's a contact tracer, such as COVID TEAM, block the number. Nothing they can do about it.

This cocksucker actually thinks people in his state are dumb enough to give the cootie cops information. Some apparently are, but believe most will say nothing. Fuck him.

As soon as I saw how that's done I knew there's no way I would ever consent to something like that and would just have to wait until fast blood tests are available, assuming I ever need to get tested at all.

I can guarantee there's a large percentage of the population who've had the ability to get tested and haven't for the same reason.
Yeah they didn't even fucking tell me what they were going to do. I was just sitting in my car with the window down and the lady said "Close your eyes" and next think I know I have a thing stuck up my nose and my head hurts

Michigan, USA

(Crosspost from the Protest thread)

Michiganders flock to Ohio after the latter state reopens.

Tuscola County (in the Thumb) Board of Commissioners passes 5-0 resolution demanding various Coronavirus-related information from Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D), and to "encourage businesses in Tuscola County to determine the best approach to implement national guidelines for safe social distancing as they begin to open up and move Michigan forward without the Legislature extending the state of emergency and without the declaration of a statewide declaration of disaster."
Tuscola County has a population of ~56,000; 166 confirmed Coronavirus cases, and 17 deaths.

Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park near Grand Rapids, other zoos on east side of state, reopening in defiance of Governor Whitmer's order near Grand Rapids, with various precautions.

Thrift store chain Hope’s Outlet Ministries, in the Muskegon area (west side of the state, on Lake Michigan) fully reopened. Customers allowed into the store (not just curbside pickup), and masks not required. They are arguing that they are within the letter of the lockdown order, which allows "Workers and volunteers for businesses or operations (including both religious and secular nonprofit organizations) that provide food, shelter, and other necessities of life for economically disadvantaged or otherwise needy individuals, individuals who need assistance as a result of this emergency, and people with disabilities."
They argue that money from the thrift store funds an associated food pantry, and anyway, providing affordable clothing to the economically disadvantaged is itself a necessity of life.

But.... Miss Swan is Asian. Thats a guaranteed visit by the cootie police.
It would be worth going to jail over if you record it.

Holy shit that would be a great game, pick the most annoying idiotic character you can come up with..and "ride the bull" for as long as you can until the operator hangs up on you.

I'm not suggesting that people should call the snitch line and give ridiculous info. No, that would be W33NING, and we cant have that. Would be a shame if it happened though

Would be a REAL damn shame is some internet autist figured out how to automate calls to the snitch line via the magic of technology and spread it across message boards.

Would be a REAL DAMN SHAME if those automated calls all just played this:

It’s not propaganda. Studies have shown a marked Testosterone decline generation to generation. Shows up even in grip strength. From speaking with contractors, most of them say they prefer hiring 1st or 2nd generation immigrants as they are more used to the harsh, muscle work (I.e installing chain link fence or roofing). Gringos usually can’t take the sun, heat, labor and run off within a week. Hopefully this changes for the USA’s sake.
Well my people never could stand the southern sun... and testosterone isnt declining on an individual base, the number of low T people is just increasing. thats why you eat red meat, fuck every woman that moves and fuck up everyone that fucks with you. peak white people have higher Testosterone than everyone but some indians.
