Here, have a really sad before-and-after with a legit talented artist from a comic site my bestie was on for a while. Iirc the story here is that a teacher told her that her art was 'too generic looking' and somehow the solution to that was to switch to pure condensed tumblr instead. Yes, that is the same character, in both her younger/blonde and modern/punk-pink versions.



Always struck me as extra unfortunate because for those of you who are familiar with Plebcomic's satirical guide to making a character appeal to tumblr...


If it's any consolation, here's some of the most up-to-date versions of this where she's rounded out the style a bit more and has more recognizable anatomy again (a bit more like that last example in the comparison up top). She is super super talented imo, just for a while some of the choices were really... unfortunate.

You know, I wonder what would happen if and when these show's get rebooted again and the showrunners base their designs off the "original" original designs. Like all the characters that got turned black where white again. If Tumblr is still around by then, that is.
