ETA: She seems to have this trend of almost taking responsibility for something and learning from her mistakes... but then excusing it all by blaming others or society or whatever. I almost felt for her there, but then-- "But no one ever listens to me!"

I've just been skimming through, but it seems like the Japanese alter was a catgirl. It also seems like the Japanese catgirl got turned into a literal kitten and kidnapped by a lioness and has subsequently become a panther-woman hybrid.

Vote this optimistic, but perhaps these DID idiots are actually autists. Plenty have strong imaginations and odd beliefs about the world, making sort of allegories to make sense of it. Wouldnt surprise me that at least a few of the DIDers might have latched onto this as an explanation of why they are 'weird' but I am far too cringed out to watch for any other signs.

Would it really be :optimistic:optimistic:optimistic: if it's true, though? A lot of DIDers (on Instagram, at least) say they have autism or are somewhere on the spectrum. It's not much of a stretch or wishful thinking if they say it themselves. But, you know, being on the spectrum isn't nearly as fun as having a TOTALLY REAL unicorn in your head, along with balding, anorexic, asian men and anime characters, so there's no doubt in my mind they aren't as forward with it as they are with showing their alters or what have you.

It would be the most likely explanation for the majority of these people - particularly the ones who have a small or no platform. The majority of these people gain no financial reward and very little social reward as their role in the community is generally to be a fan of the larger creators. They simply belong to the community because they enjoy it. This is autism, without a doubt. You see it with Fat Robert - he posts about his different alters and his DID experience almost daily, yet he gets very little engagement. He livestreams regularly and attracts about five people. His YouTube channel does attract higher engagement, but only following the DissociaDID drama. Prior to this, he was just some random autist troon who liked to roleplay alone for very little reward.

It reminds me of that wave of autistic girls who decided they were actually trannies because it caught their interest and allowed them to invent a custom identity. At one stage in England, almost a quarter of child and adolescent patients referred to a gender clinic were autistic. At that same clinic 75% were biologically female - prior to the tumblr transtrender wave, referrals were almost equally split between the biological sexes.

Autistic girls in particular are very susceptible to these trends and DID is the new trans. It allows autists to invent as many new personas as they like without having to actually commit to any physical transition. It also gives them a route into a community and a way to relate to others. DIDtubers have a lot to answer for.

When you say "autistic girls" I assume you mean biologically female? Just confirming, cause all this is kinda confusing. Do you have links or other info re the stats on the trans centre?

On the first page of google search results of “UK gender referral clinic autistic females” I’m not finding any reference to 75% or a sudden wave of people being referred, but it does appear that young people assigned female at birth seeking treatment are more likely to be autistic than young people assigned male at birth seeking treatment. (Mind you, their sample sizes were relatively small)


I think this is significant because males are far more likely than females to be diagnosed as autistic
