Guess who China will blame for corona-chan? Imagine my shock as Paul Joseph Watson might said. https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/05/guess_who_is_being_blamed_for_covid19_now.html

Guess who is being blamed for COVID-19 now
By Thomas Lifson
China and one fifth of respondents in England agree, according to recent reports. It's the old reliable, blame 'em for everything group.
That's right:
The Jews!
It was only a matter of time.
Via the Jerusalem Post:
One in five English people believe that Jews created COVID-19 to collapse the economy for financial gain, a newly-released study by a team of researchers at the University of Oxford has revealed.
The finding came as part of a wider survey in attitudes toward the virus and the measures taken to prevent its spread, which found that there was a strong undercurrent of mistrust over official advice on the virus within the public.
Ahem, are these "English people" "people who live in England," a group that includes many Muslims, or, as they euphemize, "Asians"?
I am a bit skeptical about this survey, as it seems to have been seeking conspiracy thinking:
As explained in the paper, the respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with 48 conspiracy statements. Covering topics such as general conspiracy theories about the origin and the spread of the virus and the government's response, the statements were crafted looking at both mainstream and alternative sites.
Presented with the statement "Jews have created the virus to collapse the economy for financial gain," 5.3% of the interviewees "agreed a little," 6.8% "agreed moderately," 4.6% "agreed a lot," and 2.4% "agreed completely," while some 80.8% did not agree with it at all.
On the other hand, there is no ambiguity at all about China. The Washington Free Beacon reports:
The Chinese embassy in France on Sunday tweeted, and then quickly deleted, an anti-Semitic image portraying the United States and Israel as the grim reaper knocking on Hong Kong's door.
The image, which has been circulating online among anti-Semites for some time, depicts the United States as the grim reaper holding a scythe with Israel's flag. Countries such as Syria, Venezuela, Libya, and Iraq are portrayed as places where America and Israel have caused death and destruction. The picture reads, "Who's next?" in French, with the grim reaper approaching a door with Hong Kong written on it.

Dr. Campbell covers a large scale study that looks like very bad news for Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin as a treatment - death rates are worse than the control p<0.0001

The same thing arrived here a week or two ago. My first reaction was "WTF is this?" because I had neither seen nor heard of it before its arrival. The front page reminded me of a so-called birdcage magazine such as the National Enquirer, so I discarded it unread into the papers being recycled.

I suppose one has to give them credit for trying to make the information known. Unfortunately, today's polarized, hyper-partisan environment is such that those people aren't open to other opinions and ideas and those that are open-minded probably already figured out most of what this newsletter is reporting.

The Epoch Times is the English Language “news” media of the Falun Gong group. The strange spiritual Yoga practitioners that China has branded an evil cult and subjected to widespread involuntary organ donation. So they are beyond biased against China. They want the CCP overthrown.

But... they aren’t always wrong. And have better sources in China than most other western media. So don’t dismiss them out of hand. Recognize their extreme biases when you look at their stuff.

My issue with them is that they seem to think that “having different biases than the MSM” = “unbiased”. As simply another lens to view things through they’re useful, but they aren’t inherently more (or less) trustworthy

That news will fuel all conspiracies theorists who think then President Macron is in bed with big pharma. On the other side, I won't be surprised to see a black market for hydroxychloroquine.

Paris (AFP) – The French government said Wednesday that doctors should no longer prescribe hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 patients, an unproven and potentially harmful treatment for the disease nonetheless promoted by US President Donald Trump.

The move came after two French advisory bodies and the World Health Organization (WHO) warned this week that the drug, a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, had been shown to be dangerous in several studies.

Europe’s Discovery programme of hydroxychloroquine trials in several countries to gauge its effectiveness in the coronavirus fight have also been suspended since Sunday, France’s Inserm research institute said.

The urgency of the coronavirus outbreak prompted some doctors to prescribe the drug despite a lack of research to demonstrate its effectiveness against the new coronavirus.

A French infectious disease specialist in particular insists he has successfully treated some 4,000 patients by using hydroxychloroquine with the antibiotic azithromycin.

The doctor, Didier Raoult, has caught the ear of Trump, who stunned his own administration last week by revealing he was taking hydroxychloroquine as a preventive measure against COVID-19.

Raoult has already rejected a comprehensive study published last week in The Lancet medical journal, which found that administering hydroxychloroquine or its related compound chloroquine actually increased the risk of dying for many patients.

Under the new French rules, the drug should be used only in clinical trials.

Its use is not prohibited outright, and doctors working in hospitals would still be able to prescribe it off-label as a coronavirus treatment.

“In fact, it means that you’re not allowed to recommend it, but I have never recommended it — I have said what I was going to do,” Raoult told Sud Radio of the government intervention Wednesday.

“I don’t think this changes anything much, especially since there are not that many COVID-19 cases left,” he said.

His clinic, meanwhile, told AFP it would “continue treating patients with the most appropriate treatment.”

Packer jersey man reminds me of my pops, RIP. :heart-full:

Glad to see an epic callout like this coming from the Midwest. Screw these media hacks shilling fear porn.
Doubt it but you make an interesting point. Imagine if Russia would have done this: the mortality rate would been questioned right off the bar; WHO wouldn’t have been compromised and, more than likely, no shutdown. China does it and now journos are saying that the virus is American.

Michigan, USA

Newly released emails shed some light on the process by which the state gave a contract for Corona contact tracing to a firm with ties to the Democratic party, a contract which Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) cancelled after backlash.

SHUTDOWN SHOWDOWN
Shelter-in-place order from Tuesday March 24 to Monday April 13. Friday, May 1, Friday, May 15, May 28, but May 22 for the farthest north, May 21, kind of? But also June 12 May 1, maybe? (archive May 21) (executive order saved on KF) . The Republican-controlled legislature has refused to extend Governor Whitmer's emergency authority. Governor Whitmer insists her emergency orders are all still in effect (Rundown on the laws).
State attorney general Dana Nessel (D) is also leaving enforcement of the stay-at-home order to local discretion until the courts weigh in on it (archive). She has stated Governor Whitmer's orders are valid and are to be enforced (archive). The legislature is not calling for civil disobedience at this time (archive).
The legislature has filed a lawsuit against the governor (archive). Oral arguments were heard May 15 (archive). A Court of Claims judge has ruled in favor of the governor. The legislature has appealed.
State senate leader Mike Shirkey (R) is also supporting a petition drive to change the law. Such a petition would require 340,047 signatures to be collected. It would be veto-proof if approved by the legislature, and would go on the next general election ballot if denied by them (archive 1, archive 2, archive 3).
U. S. Rep Paul Mitchell (R - The Thumb) has filed a lawsuit independently against Governor Whitmer, in federal district court. Link, pdf on KF. He has also founded a committee to work on the petition recommended by Sen. Shirkey.
There have been over a dozen lawsuits against Governor Whitmer's actions during this crisis, mostly regarding the shut-down order, in various stages of progress and in various courts (summary of eight of them). However, "all deadlines applicable to the commencement of all civil and probate actions and proceedings" are suspended until the end of the states of emergency and disaster. Executive order, and thus in limbo. (archive).

HEALTH CARE
Hydroxychloroquine banned by governor's order (archive). Nevermind LOL! Now she's asking the federal government for it and claiming the ban was a mistake in the first place. (archive). Detroit-area hospitals are testing the drug's effectiveness as a preventative on first responders and health-care workers (archive). Article on results, May 8 (archive).
Up-to-date count of available hospital beds, etc. in the State (the Detroit area is "Section 2, North and South.")(government website)

Detroit field hospital, capacity 1,000, closed. Never had many more than 20 at any time. (archive, May 7).
The state is going to add "probable" deaths from Coronavirus to our death tolls. (archive - May 20)

LAW AND ORDER
All localities given more discretion to release prisoners early (archive). It was an executive order. Who knows if it's still valid?
Detroit shootings up, but most other crime down (archive - April 30); Muskegon police report crime is up (archive).
Breaking the lockdown is a misdemeanor, punishable by $1500 fines and 90 days jail time. (Still valid???) Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has stated there will not be a "ramp up" of police enforcement (archive). The attorney general has left it to local law enforcement to close businesses, as her hands are full with price-gougers and con artists (archive).
The police cannot, at present, pull drivers over simply for being out during the shutdown (archive). Multiple sherrifs from the rural north to Detroit suburbs have stated they will not be enforcing or not strictly enforcing parts or the entirety of the order (archive). An increasing number of businesses are quietly ignoring or publicy defying the shut-down orders.

OFFICIAL DEATH TOLL

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reviews deaths and adds overlooked cases to the count three days a week: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Recovery counts are updated on Saturdays.
14 deaths were added today, and no deaths were added yesterday, I presume because of Memorial Day causing delays, though the website doesn't say so.

MDHHS said:
Regular reviews of death certificate data maintained in Vital Records reporting systems are conducted by MDHHS staff three times per week. As a part of this process, records that identify COVID-19 infection as a contributing factor to death are compared against all laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). If a death certificate is matched to a confirmed COVID-19 case and that record in the MDSS does not indicate the individual died, the MDSS record is updated to indicate the death and the appropriate local health department is notified. These matched deaths are then included with mortality information posted to the Michigan Coronavirus website.

Detroit Metro (pop. 3,860,000 total; 1,796/sq. mi.; 694/sq km):*

34,817 confirmed / 4,151 dead
34,694 confirmed / 4,105 dead yesterday
(i.e. 46 new deaths, up 20 from this day last week, presumably owing to Memorial Day delays)
Normal Detroit Metro Death Rate: 104 per day.**

Other Michigan (6,120,000; 65/sq. mi.; 25/sq km):

20,791 confirmed / 1,183 dead
20,410 confirmed / 1,161 dead yesterday
(i.e. 22 new deaths, up 5 from this day last week, presumably owing to Memorial Day delays)
Normal not-Detroit Death Rate: 167 per day**

All Michigan (9,990,000; 103/sq. mi.; 40/sq km):

55,608 confirmed / 5,334 dead
55,104 confirmed / 5,266 dead yesterday
(i.e. 68 new deaths, up 25 from this day last week, up 11 without adjustments, presumably owing to Memorial Day delays)
Normal Michigan Death Rate: 271 per day.**

Death toll doubled since: April 20.
We were locked down from: March 24 (until April 30? May 21),
Masks have been mandatory in stores since: April 27 (until April 30?).

*Here defined as the City of Detroit, and Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties, minus state and federal prisoners, who are not counted towards any county's cases, but are kept in categories of their own.
** As of 2018.
*** 31, 44, and 14 statewide deaths, respectively, were added on these days upon State review. Presumably most were in Detroit, but I don't know exactly how many.
^ 4 deaths were subtracted from Detroit City's total, and 3 deaths reported elsewhere in the tri-county.

One Ann Arbor man allegedly killed by his roommate in a Corona-related dispute (archive). The suspect has been released from custody while the investigation continues (archive).
One Flint security guard allegedly murdered for telling a woman that her daughter needed to wear a mask in a dollar store. Multiple suspects are in custody (archive, A&N thread).

COVID negative! Turns out I have a relapse of pneumonia. :) Wanted to give an update to that. So it's shitty but at least it's not Corona. :optimistic::optimistic:

Very good ;)

Re: (hydroxy)chloroquine and azythromicin being bad, especially together:

this was already known actually:

(source: uptodate)

Azythromicin: Cardiac risk: A retrospective cohort study done in Tennessee Medicaid patients demonstrated an increased cardiac risk with azithromycin

(translations: cardiomyopathy = heart muscle is affected; blocks = electricity doesn't flow, the heart can't beat properly, long QT = the heart can take longer to beat, so if it takes too long blood doesn't flow, torsade de pointes = heart beats in a a very weird way, very bad thing,)

Chloroquine: Cardiovascular effects: Cases of cardiomyopathy resulting in cardiac failure (sometimes fatal) have been reported during long term therapy at high doses. Monitor for signs and symptoms of cardiomyopathy; discontinue if cardiomyopathy develops. Consider chronic toxicity and discontinue chloroquine if conduction disorders (bundle branch block/AV block) are diagnosed. QT prolongation, torsade de pointes, and ventricular arrhythmias (some fatal) have been reported; risk is increased with high doses. Use with caution in patients with cardiac disease, history of ventricular arrhythmias, uncorrected hypokalemia and/or hypomagnesemia, or bradycardia, and during concomitant administration with QT interval prolonging agents due to potential for QT prolongation. In a scientific statement from the American Heart Association, chloroquine has been determined to be an agent that may either cause direct myocardial toxicity or exacerbate underlying myocardial dysfunction (magnitude: major) (AHA [Page 2016]).

Hydroxychloroquine: Cardiovascular effects: Cardiomyopathy resulting in cardiac failure, sometimes fatal, has been reported (symptoms may present as atrioventricular block, pulmonary hypertension, sick sinus syndrome, or as cardiac complications), and may appear during acute or chronic therapy. Monitor for signs/symptoms of cardiac compromise; discontinue treatment promptly if signs and symptoms of cardiomyopathy occur. In a scientific statement from the American Heart Association, hydroxychloroquine has been determined to be an agent that may either cause direct myocardial toxicity or exacerbate underlying myocardial dysfunction (magnitude: major) (AHA [Page 2016]). Consider chronic toxicity if conduction disorders (eg, bundle branch block, atrioventricular heart block) as well as biventricular hypertrophy are diagnosed. May also be associated with QT interval prolongation; ventricular arrhythmia and torsades de pointes have been reported (monitor QT-prolonging effects during therapy in at-risk patients or if used in combination with other medications that prolong the QT interval).

Basically all three of them involve the heart. If you're taking them together for er, a bad flu, the side effects are much worse than the disease that they are supposed to be treating.

Also if people start taking SLE (systemic lupus) medicine then the patients with SLE won't have any (re: chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine).

Btw SLE patients please follow what the SLE specialist (i.e. not me) say because they know how and when to use those meds properly without affecting the heart and imho they won't combine them :-) SLE specialists are very clever ;)

Right. News time. Sorry for lack of comments all day. It's a slow news day and I've had a massive fucking mess due to my studies this morning so I decided to take a break the rest of the day. I would get a spoiler to quarantine a rant about the political circus going on with that fucker that literally called in armed vehicles against civilians with fooking casseroles but I'm drunk, my head hurts, I need sleep and fuck my studies. So I think I'd better not talk about that least I get bombarded with fedoras, trashcans and tismratings. I mean, I don't ca4e about negratings. But I'd probably deserve them, and I do care about not going full lolcow.

Onto the news shit. The Mareas are finally onto the corruption cases hardcore. We'll see how that goes. The stock market has been another massive rollercoaster with some news halfway through the day resulting in most of europe loosing a ton of gained ground and multiple countries winding up on the red but it relaxed by the end. Seems it had something to do with Brexit but Britain was far from the most affected. Though the pound is suffering in value. Either way, again, fucking somehow Greece has taken the lead and indeed even while everyone started to plummet greece just kept going up like it didn't matter. I am enjoying seeing their economy somehow not give a single shit immensely. Good job you yogurt munchers. You gotta tell us how you did it later. Also Spain still did pretty well, not feeling the damage as much as the north and winding up in 4th place (budapest and zagreb got 2 and 3 respectively) and we landed on the best marks we got in over a fucking month so it seems finally the V is real. Hope it keeps rising.

But best news actually come from ABSOLUTELY BASED AND REDPILLED Hungary:
They actually went ahead and banned troons, the madmen! I fucking love it. The english speaking media all over the globe is going absolutely apeshit. So cheers for our hungarian pals. My god that was glorious!

So Mom had a birthday 'party' yesterday. People, including me, left her birthday gifts by the door. Today, one of the guests was revealed to have the WuFlu.
So I'm in a funk about it today. CDC said the virus doesn't remain on surfaces after saying it wasuntil the beginning , either the virus spreaded to her and/or the other guests and me, and the fact that this happened to my mom when the thing was supposedly dying off and the 'gift' of the virus.
It's like some ill-mannered joke and I want to laugh about it but I don't feel like it.

Apologies for blog-posting but I had some unfortunate timing. The good thing was that he has a mask so, I hope that's enough for it to not spread.
