Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? One of the biggest problems the Dems are going to be facing in November is their lack of positive, aspirational goals. Donald Trump announced his goal: Make America Great Again. It's simple, it's to the point, and it covers a whole lot of policy under its umbrella. With the Dems, it's all America was never great and we're going to punish anyone who says differently. The closest thing the Dems have to a message of positive goals is this: We're going to completely open out borders and lavish public funds on the resulting influx of illegals and Americans are going to pay for it and pay for it and pay for it. That's hardly a really hopeful message to communicate to the voters.

While it's certainly not an invested goal, their push has been to "restore normalcy, dignity to the presidency", in lieu of the chaos they contend exists from the current president.

"Normalcy", I assume, means we we'll no longer know when they're drone striking U.S. citizens until years after they vacate office, if we're lucky.

Throwing money at schools doesn’t make them better. It really is the school system at its core. Putting an iPad in a kids hand isn’t going to help if the end goal is to just pass an end of the grade test.

That's part of it, absolutely. But the education system has also tied the hands of parents who are interested in their child's education. Just ask any parent who's made an attempt to homeschool their kid during Covid and you'll get a litany of complaints about the ridiculous uselessness of the curriculum and methods of teaching. This is part of what gives me hope that things might change--parents getting pissed and refusing tax increases and slamming school board meetings and voting for pro-student policies. Eventually. But yeah, education is boring and it sucks. If I was a student today, I would check out mentally too.

I've never seen those types of books in schools, but you are quite right. I wouldn't blame this solely on the president though, it's on the system as a whole as well as the House and the Senate who agree and approve with/of the budget.
