As @Cistern Rumbler says, it's not that uncommon. I've done charity work for homeless a fair amount and an iPhone is a comparatively inexpensive way for them to have a phone, laptop, camera, etc. It lets them stay connected with friends or family they may have who they also may not want to live with for numerous reasons, and have some form of normalcy. I've met more than a few people who even owned laptops but where homeless travellers because of the normalcy and semi-humanising effect it allows.

For as little as my opinion is worth, I think it's a fairly shitty thing to do for a mass of random DSP detractors on Twitter to constantly tweet at a (probable) mentally unstable woman who clearly has some, lets say, beliefs of evil behind the scenes slaves masters about how her sister is being kept prisoner and abused by DSP and how she needs to be "rescued". A sister with which we have no idea what her relationship is like, or even when the last time they may have spoke is.

Best case scenario is random twitter morons get scammed out of the price of a plane ticket, but there's a lot of shitty people out there who don't seem to care about how there are real people out there that they're talking to and about just because they really hate DSP.

I don't endorse the idea of giving money to this woman, but you don't have to just give someone money and pray they buy a plane ticket - you can just buy them the ticket. I don't see a situation in which someone just gives her several hundred dollars she just spends on crack or whatever.

Really though, I don't see why she wouldn't go given the opportunity. Even if the whole "I have to rescue my sister" shit is a lie, she's homeless and her supposed brother in law makes $120k a year living in a decent home in a gated community.
