I think you guys are missing the part where even if they repealed that bill, someone else could just reinstate it at the end of the year. I know it's easy to be all doom and gloom, but people are always going to find a way to have freedom to express themselves, legally or not. Maybe a worldwide ban on simple conversation is what we need for a censor free technology to erupt from its corpse. An internet made purely wireless with no physical hosts or accountability. Or you know, you can just wait a few months for them to put their law back if they lose it in the first place.

Considering your primary mode of interaction is through the Web and could be originating anywhere on Earth - what would be lost? Aren't you technically gaining by relocating?

I can think of places with good internet where the cost of living is a tenth of what it is in the states. You could get a beachfront mansion in El Salvador for about $400 a month and have food delivered to you daily by private security.

Trump needs to target the specific section that is giving platforms the ability to abuse censorship, and he is 100% right to put pressure on these platforms. Problem is he is doing it like a boomer who doesn't understand the internet because like most politicians he is.

I think if it gives them free votes or a guaranteed victory, anyone would do it. Whether they find a reason not to in the process is another thing. The internet's been fucked for a very long time. Social media is like pandora's box, and although there is some good in it, I think the world would be a better place without twitter, facebook and its ilk. But since the idea exists, and has thrived this many years, there is no real getting rid of it outside of a new technology replacing it. I've thought of a few things that could at least help though. Something that can mass crawl twitter profiles and determine where each cluster of users is coming from, or why they're lashing out against one thing or another. A means of detecting mass botted upvotes, people who are paid influencers etc. There needs to be clarity that even the most simple minded people can understand, because a lot of those users aren't even real, a lot of those ideas are peddled by one source or another, and the hundreds of thousands who are rallied behind that cause might only be about 10,000 who were duped into it.
