Don’t forget that it’s the face of a guy who’s being cucked by his girlfriends Instagram but is so in denial about it that his co-host won’t mention it even after being paid to do soView attachment 1337285

Watching it:
1. Razor criticizing Sqenix for having review copies videos titled as ads for being.... manipulative? Despite literally being the exact opposite (if you recieved a review copy you should definitely announce it).
2. Mugh sjw.
3. Midgard is more modern and that's.... not future proofed?
4. Characters are auto leveled after not being in the party and it's bad, because everyone loves having dead weight characters for several fights until they catch up.
5. Finding few cases of bad textures and using it as an example that the graphics are bad.
6. It's not open world.
Actual real criticisms are having bad combat, linear leveling and level design, and the ending. The last one was already discussed to death and I don't know if the others are actual real criticisms or Razor overexaggerating so he can go "it's exactly like FF13!".
I'm thinking of buying it after learning it's not a remake. I'll either wait for a price drop or a tangible date for a sequel (probably the former). Also I might be a minority about it but I don't remember FF13's combat being terrible, just underdeveloped in some parts and taking too much time to open up. If the game had let the player to multispec characters earlier and get the player to think more about builds it would have been fine. Plot-wise if FF13 just replaced 99% of the term with plain english synonyms then the plot would have been far easier to follow. He’s exaggerating all of them. The combat won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it generally finds a good middle ground, especially since you can swap freely and every character has a radically different play style, none are like any of the FF13 games. It’s closer to a blend of kingdom hearts and FF15 with the fallout 3 targeting mechanic.
The levels are somewhat linear, but there’s more to the areas than just hallways. Incidentally, the part where he bitched about tifa saying you can get lost is actually a maze like puzzle and one of the most open level sections in the game.
I’ll give him the textures because they can indeed be bad. Cloud’s door to his apartment is infamous at this point, and I actually did stop and stare at that shitty prerendered background he pointed out.
the side quests are mostly lame, but almost all are avoidable. They all are given to you in blocks based on the chapter, so they do slow the story down, but they’re not constantly available. The difference is they determine minor story stuff. One row of side quests determines Aerith’s dress, the other determines cloud’s and so on. The chocobo one he mentions is literally at the end section when you leave the open midgar part, which was a bit disingenuous on his end.
The issue with 13’s combat was how trickled down it was. You’re still getting tutorials for new mechanics 20 hours in, the time when combat should already be mastered. And because you’re only in control of lightning, you have to constantly babysit your AI teammates and hope they will heal you when they’re supposed to. It’s a bit of a simplistic chore, especially since you equip new weapons rather than level up.I'm thinking of buying it after learning it's not a remake. I don't remember a problem with healing but there is a problem that it's extremely hard to micro-manage the party which is a shame because that could have turned the combat into a lot more complex than simply switching modes according to the situation. The issue with 13’s combat was how trickled down it was. I'd say it's more that WRPGs tend to drop into an established world without too much hand holding while JRPGs like to build up the setting, but there are a lot of exceptions and it can really boil down to whether it has anime tropes or not. Regardless, Razor has shit opinions about JRPGs with nostalgia goggles tightened to his cranium, only looking for games to criticize. I actually tried Breath of Fire III since he gushed on it and it's a prime example of a game that matured badly, it's slow as hell and isn't interesting in either story or combat compared to modern games. The absolute state of the American """Male"""
I don't think Razor gets that JRPGS and western RPGS tackled diffrent aspects of the rpg genre, true ultimately Dragon Quest and FF were inspired by WRPGS like ultima, both types are born from the DND style of structure
Western RPGS more focused on the character creation aspect, while JRPGS focus more on recapturing the gameplay systems and feeling of exploring a world built in expansions with lore and shit
Now he might personally blame JRPGS as to why WRPGS simplified their gameplay systems, but I would leave that more on the rise in action games along with the slow death of PC exclusive rpgs in general, making shit have to be condensed downward
They both have different goals and different audiences, and are not really equivalent when you break it down due to this shift in design ethos
Does he do youtube as a full time profession? Since I believe he does mention a lot of his videos are de monitized
Let’s not forget that vanilla dagger fall is basically unplayable in the modern day with that “swing the mouse left to right and occasionally have your hits land” combat systemI don't remember a problem with healing but there is a problem that it's extremely hard to micro-manage the party which is a shame because that could have turned the combat into a lot more complex than simply switching modes according to the situation.

It's been sometime since I watched that rant but anyone arguing that randomly/sequentially generated content is the future is insane.Let’s not forget that vanilla dagger fall is basically unplayable in the modern day with that “swing the mouse left to right and occasionally have your hits land” combat system

Shining Force
That circus tent can forever suck my dick, but I'd be willing to bet things are about to get tougher...
Oh you poor soul... you have no idea what's in store for you.
Pro-tip, wait until you're level 20 (the highest level you can get to) to upgrade. If you upgrade at level 10, you're attacks don't do dick and your defense will be like tissue paper.
Furthest I got was into the mountains when they introduced griffins (harpies?) or something like that. That or that one stage where it's a really long, horizontal field to fight on. Whichever's later. I know your evil OC clone showed up and the main character had been promoted. I'm gonna start over, it's been years since I played.
did he mention it himself?I think I've heard that he had a "graveyard shift" of a job, also superberries.
did he mention it himself?
So I’m a tad biased because I actually loved the FF7 Remake quite a bit,
But beginning the review with ranting about Square Enix requiring reviews to be labeled as an “ad” and then calming that’s “dishonest” makes no sense. In fact, that’s probably the most honest system to get a review copy Ive ever seen.
He also got his combat rant so incorrect it makes me wonder if he even played final fantasy 13, let alone this one.
the casual mode does the basic attacks for you and you focus on doing the atb stuff. Lame for sure, but not close to 13’s turn based combat. It’s most similar to a game called The Last Story on the Wii.
Everyone agrees the padded some aspects of the game out, but the scenes he highlighted are the scenes intended to build characters up, which is an odd thing for a role playing fan to hate on.
It’s not though, there’s a lot of differences mechanically from KH.You're a bit off on the combat. The combat in FF7R is ripped straight up, lock, stock and barrel from Kingdom Hearts. That shouldn't be too surprising though since KH is Nomura's baby and he LOVES splatting his KH scuz over every other game he comes in contact with and FF7R did not come out clean on the other side on ANY level (nor did FFXV despite him only being an art director for that game). I highly doubt the other parts for FF7R will come out clean either.
