The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

I love the fact that these people seem to think big companies like Naughty Dog care about societal issues outside of potential profits to be made.

No Naughty Dog does not give one flying rat fuck about police brutality or lgbt issues. They’re hoping that someone who does care sees these tweets and remembers them the next time they’re in a GameStop.

This is from last year. They really just took a random group photo, slapped a rainbow flag on it and called it a day.
For a company that loves to preach "diversity" there sure seems to be a lack of one here and the aggressive woke marketing is to compensate or something...

Digital Foundry has released a video analyzing the graphics tech, implying the release date is going to be sooner rather than later:

Review embargo has now slightly lifted for those with first impressions access to the game, and IMMEDIATELY there's problems.

First off, all of the new articles are taking great care to avoid talking about gameplay, story, or anything tangible and are instead talking about the graphics and how the game has over "60 accessibility features", features that they then don't go on to list. And these articles are all coming out within hours of each other, sometimes even spamming the same shit over and over and over again, nearly word-for-word. And if that wasn't enough to make you wary of this game's impending reception: all of their comments sections in these articles have been immediately opened and closed upon being made, at Naughty Dog's request. With some just wholesale ripping off Digital Foundry's video and completely misrepresenting the video's points (to give one example: how they said the lighting was great...even though they didn't and was one of the main problems both DF and their comments section pointed out), and others just copying what's being said in other articles that are being released, like one big incestuous journalist stew.

Also at Naughty Dog's request, the Washington Post pointed out that they were only allowed to review the 2-hour portion that was only seen in the "never-before-seen" gameplay trailer from the State of Play (i.e. they were only allowed to spend two hours in that single area alone from the demo, and weren't allowed to progress anywhere else) and are only able to write about that section in this specific article and must not release anything else under any circumstances: a rule that was apparently also given out to the other reviewers of this game listed above. And they are to stay this way until their final reviews (which are already written up) are able to be released on the 12th.

Yeah these are totally the actions of a company who are super confident in their finished product ;)

The funniest one to me was the Eurogamer article because you can almost read it as the game being horribly unoptimized for PS4 and suggesting that it might be better for PS5.

Wait, what? Unless there was something related to a black guy being murdered by the cops in one of the game that will be presented then i don't see any reason to delay this event.
Because everything must be super duper cereal now in these time of crises. Never mind the fact that most people just want escapist material right now more than anything amongst the panic of the riots, alongside all of us still being under mass quarantine making it easier than ever for us to find shit like that: nope, because of these specific riots happening nationwide instead of in just one city, everything has to go on media blackout for an undetermined amount of time.

And it's not just Sony either, the entirety of the music industry (Sony's music division included) are also planning to go on a complete media blackout.

Sony: "None of you get to have fun fuck you."
Neil: "Ey I gotchu fam support those rioters"
TBH this dumb virtue signaling might end up hurting Sony, Microsoft has been talking about the series X for months now and 2020's halfway through and we still don't know what the PS5 even looks like. That's not even counting if public opinion sours against the rioters.

It's empty virtue-signaling but I suppose it could also be a form of tard-wrangling. Sony can't say or do anything right now without embarrassing themselves and I doubt the people managing their various social media accounts have enough self-control to not post some hot takes from the company's accounts.

They probably don't want their big PS5 reveal to be overshadowed by news of riots and shit. Whether it gets shoved out of newsfeeds by protest news, or whether because a chunk of their target audience is out protesting. So they opt to delay, and take the opportunity for some easy virtue signaling.
