If they aren't convicted of 2nd degree murder (which they might not be, because you could argue he's an idiot who didn't realize that would kill him, especially with the first autopsy saying he didn't die of strangulation, which is why upping this from 3rd degree murder was a mistake) then there will be even more riots.

I know that Verhoeven never read the book, but there is something fishy about the phrase "Service guarantees citizenship".

Voting has only been a "fundamental right" for less than a century. The Constitution initally mandated you own property (among other things, of course) because they wanted stakeholders and not debtors to make up the voter rolls.

And even now there are requirements: you must register to vote. Elections are artificial political rituals, not a God given liberty. There must be standards, and you should have to jump through at least one hoop to qualify as a willing participant and not some drone.
