Large dips at the end of every month are the norm for everyone on patreon (especially at these dollar amounts), it looks so much worse because the graph scale changes based on the numbers. I looked at the big dip at the end of March it's still less than a 5% (about 4.4%) drop ($22,221 -> $21,106) that recovered by the end of the month. Anyone who wants to dive further and run averages can find the numbers here but I'm not seeing anything that seems too out of place compared to a nondrama-based account like sfdebris (his worse dip in the last 6 months was about 2.6%), when you look at the numbers rather than the graphs.

To be fair, TDS drops seem to be higher on average than that account, so having viewers tune out for a month due to burnout or a lack of interest in that month's content can definitely be a contributing factor. I'm just not finding the numbers to be worrisome at this point since he keeps regaining his losses every month despite being far past his growth phase. The most directly comparable patreon I can think of off the top of my head in terms of account age, growth curve, and including political/social commentary content into the show would be seculartalk and he seems to have similarly large dips as well.

I've always listened to TDS in the car during my daily commute. Because Corona killed my commute till now I have a huge backlog of Dick. Two observations:
1. It's amusing to hear old thoughts on the Coronavirus before they all knew how big this would end up being.
2. The interview in 199 with Frederick Brennan was really interesting and it was a nice moment when Hotwheels and Jersh buried the hatchet.

For whatever reason it bothers me to listen to any content that is remotely topical from pre-lockdown 2020. I feel like I have immediately shut it off.

I disagree. I'm of the opinion he's currently in the metamorphosis phase of being a cow, he may not be there yet, but a big beautiful bovine butterfly will eventually burst forth from the cocoon. We saw a major slip up where his ego got bruised and he lashed out, acting in really stupid ways. It wasn't part of his act and he didn't like being laughed at. He was, and still is imo, desperate to control the narrative and he's trying to do it Don Sargone style by sending out orbiters as minions to try and shit up the thread and shut down discussion (here and elsewhere). On top of that now people know exactly how to press his buttons, his former defence of "I'm a scumbag I don't give a shit" wont work as PPP, George Cuckzunian and others have indicated what buttons to push and how to push those buttons. Sure this event will probably blow over soon, but he'll slip again and someone else will step in to fuck with him and will have a blueprint on how exactly to do that. I doubt Dax is going to learn from his mistakes in this one, especially as he's surrounded himself with yes men who themselves are supremely retarded. It is only a matter of time, and done so incrementally by degrees, that he'll end up an internet laughing stock.

And speaking of his orbiters, Dax's meltdown brought them to people's attention. Ralph was already a liability, and has proven this fact over and over again. Vito himself is a desperate for fame attention whore who reminds me of Anthony 'A-log' Logatto not just in looks or being very shit comedian, but in the way he is desperate to make fun of other people not for laughs but to simultaneously deflect scrutiny from himself and trying to use angrily shitting on popular and easy targets to try to advance himself socially.

Nobody's telling you that you must believe he's a lolcow, but he's a lot more pathetic than you give him credit for. I'm not going to accuse you of being a jannie or whatever, but ignoring the fact that he got so butthurt that he called up Josh to demand an explanation for a goof on Ralph and suggesting to Josh that he deal with the bad actors making fun of him, or the fact that he's become the epicenter of the gay orbiting and collective dick sucking that IBS has become.

Asterios is gonna eventually either give up comedy to have a big boy job or give up a real job to fail at comedy. At the moment, these two things are at odds and eventually something will give. I highly suggest someone write up an asterios thread if it isn't dirrectly Dax related or lore related.

We won't see an impact on a patreon for a while. people may have gotten upset and pulled $5 here and there but Dax has successfully sweeped it up for a while. With the artist revolt it was a lot of unlikable people who most people didn't like anyways getting screwed over by Dax's shitty attitude, shitty responses, and shitty wishy washy payment system. There is this weird trend on The Dick Show where Dick has you as a guest/friend of the show and then if for some reason you decide you wanna not be on TDS Dick makes a massive stink about it. It's like Dick thinks he owns them or they owe him anything. When he flipped on Asterios Asterios did some stupid shit but I get why he didn't wanna be around Dick anymore. Asterios went a couple grand in the hole, Asterios didn't wanna torch future job prospects if the full time comedy (that was a dumb idea to announce) didn't work out, and Asterios didn't want the shitty autistic fans who try and fuck with everything because they think '"acting" like a stupid ill behaved child is totally cool' to be his fans.

Also didn't Dick take pride in refusing to pay for the Asterios invoice and try and shame him on air for his invoice being too much? Actually thinking back on it, I remember Dick made them all stay in some sorta weird community hostel type deal for the Chicago show and Asterios later talked about him specifically requesting his own hotel to "get his fuck on" and Dick getting butthurt Asterios didn't consider the hostel good enough.

I can get wanting to save money and cut costs. I can get wanting to have certain people share rooms to save costs. But how uncomfortable and weird is it for the "boss" to talk about an all expenses paid trip to (insert destination) then refusing to shell out to even get you shared rooms and make you sleep in some weird bunk bed set up, then when you send an invoice he screams at you on air over every little thing. How much would it of cost to set up bunking hotel rooms? Lets assume hotels were $100 a night for something like a motel 6 type deal. "Life Coach" (who no one asked or wanted there), Madcuks, Dick and Sean could figure some sort of cheap arangement of their own since none of them care too much about sharing space, Siracha and Asterios can share bunking, Peach has said her family is from Chicago so it's not imposible to ask if she can stay with family for a night or 3. How much would it of cost honestly? How hard would it of been to figure out? Even if it was a pain in the ass to figure out, you make $20k a month get off your ass and figure out how to keep your friends of the show comfortable while saving money.

There is a difference between being frugal and being a complete cheap ass. Overselling and under delivering seems to be a big part of that.

In terms of optics, Ben being found out makes everything here messy. Cameron's petty a-logging antics to 'get back' at Dax is even worse. It's debatable if the driving force of kiwi-autism matters or not, but the optics of it are clear. Having both of these dumb fucks concentrated in a thread makes anything that comes out of here immediately polluted.

And now they're both shitting up the thread, back and forth with a different theory flavour each post. The shotgun method only works in short bursts, do it long enough and nobody cares anymore. The only thing you've killed so far is actual discussion on this thread.

Dax is a lolcow and one with a lot of potential. Turns out his two biggest supporters were Ben and Cameron all along, who stopped that from being realized.

It's worth a listen. The show was as far away from an exploit as you can get, actually benefited Chris monetarily and tried to tell him to stop doing crazy shit. It was a microscope on the mind of Chris and was really surprised how well Cantellions was able to do it.
