I've know a guy for nearly 20 years, and he's one of the reasons I stay off social media - dude is metis, and insists that he has been actively discriminated against his entire life, despite being no more dark than I am, when I'm well tanned, and he's not the worst one I've encountered. That horrifying title goes to a guy that went pronouns, pansexual and claiming to be mestizo about a decade ago that insists that he's been actively conspired against at every turn for all of those identities, despite only bringing this things up for the last decade. Or to the guy whose defense to his common-law-wife alleging he was sliding on top and dumping a load into her in her sleep was essentially "The Myer's Defense", 5 years ago - he was functionally raping her because "he's actually been experiencing psychological upheaval because he was coming to terms with his non-binary nature", and he immediately started dressing in mediocre drag, to deflect criticism.
You know what makes this legitimately horrifying? This is shit happening in a fairly conservative part of the country, so the bullshit that supports this garbage is already endemic enough in Canada that even the areas that are relatively conservative are infected to a point that's incredibly alarming.
I even have family members that are boomers, but that went back to post-secondary institutions for post-grad stuff in the last couple decades spouting intersectional bullshit at me, and I'm a strong believer in "let consenting adults do what they want, I'm personally responsible for myself and not the actions of slavers 200 or 400 years ago, and MLK had a great set of ideas on addressing racism."
It's not good enough. Canada has had several instances of Muslim immigrants attacking young women in public pools, several blatantly terrorist-related killings, and it's all been intentionally dismissed by the powers that be, while we have feminists demanding that judges take "victim-centered training for sexual assault", and be the sole arbiter for trials for sexual crimes, so the judges can be indoctrinated into "believe women, they don't lie", despite the same groups probably having worked behind the scenes to get every single Muslim man accused of sexually assaulting teens to be acquitted. These are the same assholes that have turned on groups like the Vancouver Rape Center (the one Morgane Oger got defunded), and applauded it. (I have problems with VRC, but I firmly believe that trans-women need specialized counseling, even as victims of sex crimes.)
I'm surprised Canada has taken this long to start this shit, but with the RCMP killing a 1st Nations woman in New Brunswick during a wellness check, because they weren't getting the traction with the story about that Regis women in Toronto that fell from the 24th floor during an epileptic episode (likely for lack of proof that the cops did anything), they've now got their very own "See, the cops are racists that want to kill minorities!" event to twist and use to manipulate Canadians.
But god-fucking-forbid I try to point out that outside of residential schools and whichever legislation it was that required natives to give up treaty rights in order to vote, Canada doesn't have a hugely oppressive history, at least in the recent past. Hell, one of the "cowboy events" in western Canada has had special historical shit for a black cowboy that was the owner of a huge ranch during the Gold Rush, in the last few years, and people have been encouraging native groups in that city to apply to the gov't for funding to create a tourist center to explain their history, because renaming the city a string of unpronounceable syllables and demanding obeisance to "unceded and occupied land" in every public function is autistic and stupid.
TLDR - Canada isn't a white supremacist country, even if we do have a shitty semi-recent history with natives, which we're actively trying to ameliorate. Fact is, Canada is already significantly cucked.
