At least the question is raised. From the get it looked odd to me. If nothing else, they denied him his 'white priv' to pass thru a cop blockade by putting his hand in between some cops. For real if you're 75 and you don't understand what "NO" means in those circumstances, you're courting death as-is. A mob behind you and you think you can separate from them and penetrate to the rear of a hostile police line, oh sure. Go right on ahead, fellow white man. People are trustworthy, and there's no chance you're up to something.

“If you think we’re not ready, and we stood by and let the neighborhoods go up, there’s nothing intelligent that I could say to you,” she said. “That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I understand you want to preen.”

So if you ban police from using chemical weapons such as tear gas and pepper spray, what else can you use for dispersal when a crowd becomes violent and dangerous?
That is pretty much just leaving the police with rubber bullets and batons.

I mean...we've seen what happens when there is no government or police. Its happened before. It was called Kowloon. What happened is that all the manufacturing became really cheap ( because there were no standards so you could make your rice noodles in the sewer for 10 cents a lb) and the triads effectively became the police, but more corrupt and constantly shaking people down for "protection".
