I still can't believe how these idiots will gladly call for the police and even prisons to be abolished, and somehow think that random community leaders will be able to deal with all societal problems. They have no idea how things are in the real world, it's like they think the police only exist to kill joggers when the police has to deal with domestic violence, missing persons, cold cases, child abuse, murder, rape.. the list goes on. Wanting prisons to be abolished is even worse, do they think only innocent joggers and non-violent people convicted of drug possession are in prison? For a group of people constantly crying about #MeToo, they sure don't seem to have realized that rapists and child molesters will be set free if there are no prisons. Are they going to set Derek Chauvin and Dylann Roof free too? Or when they say prison abolition, do they actually mean only blacks should be set free but whites should still be punished?

The gangs will do the hard work and will be funded directly by the community without any middlemen or overhead, just like in third world countries. And if you don't like your gang, you can encourage a different one to move in.

No, that's one of their issues. The soil should still be tilled for this method. It's not a common one where I live, but I've grown up around gardening and in the northern states I've lived in, backyard gardens would often be done this way. The reason for that is because there's going to be a variation of nutrients in your soil, some of which will actually kill others if they're too plentiful. If you just mix it straight out, you'll wind up shocking the soil rather than mixing it in slowly, which is what the cardboard is supposed to do as it dissolves. If they truly wanted results or knew what the fuck they were doing they would've tilled the soil first and then planted on top of the cardboard. Even then, they needed more topsoil in the first place.

It's an actual style for places with heavy rain, but they're using the wrong kind of cardboard. The corrugated kind that is used for shipping won't dissolve fast enough, which is supposed to allow top soil to mix with the soil underneath without "shocking" the system of either soil. It's a logical system, but they've done everything wrong, so it simply won't work.

There isn't soil underneath, though, but grass, and under the grass, there's the root system of the grass, which means the plants aren't going to grow down into it and if they do they'll be competing for water with the actual grass. All they've really done here is kill the grass while putting in some soon to be dead essentially rootless plants. Someone zoomed in and they literally ripped the roots off many of the plants so they'd be dead even if they watered them, which they also aren't doing.

It just goes to show how universally dumb every single person there is that nobody told them this couldn't possibly work the way they're doing it.
