So stuff like Kingdom Come: Deliverance? That game isn't exactly glorifying that period, with the ending revealing that the entire game's story is the result of a political clusterfuck that couldn't possibly happen if it weren't for the Feudal system, and the more "sensible" characters like Sir Robard basically saying that all this death and destruction is the fault of a bunch of rich blue-bloods using everyone else as pawns in their power games, and the only big villain you get to stop is some opportunistic faggot who gets away scot-free because of his privilege after he tried to set himself up as a bandit warlord. That might actually be a strength though, because unlike a more blatant propaganda flick like 300 you don't get the snark about the work eclipsing the work itself. I wonder if feeding this kind of "LOL snark" culture of the 00s contributed the meme that all righties are uneducated rubes who get their history from Washington Irving and Mel Gibson, which suggests the existence of the political right is caused only be ignorance and the exploitation thereof by the rich, and it would be better if we just rigged the political system so they'd never get a say.Even stuff like the original Ghostbusters and Tron had those roots. In both movies the protagonists were guys who wanted to make money based off new tech they had invented. That doesn't fly now, they rebranded Flynn as a philanthropist in Tron 2 and Ghostbusters obviously went the way it did. (Though I actually really liked the Tron sequel, it was great.)
Dunno if bringing that back would be as popular as it was before, but it would be a start. I think right wingers should invest in media that builds white men up and honors the accomplishments of their ancestors as well as the current day struggles. It would be a start anyway. Also do stuff that busts up the fake feminist paradigm set up if they want to appeal to women.
The idea of women sitting on their asses doing jackshit while t3h menz went out and hunted or worked the fields or whatever was always false. Women have been laborers and peasant workers for as long as they've been alive. Even when the middle class began to grow women still helped manage their husbands' businesses and livelihoods. Those were families that lived above shops or ranched, when herding animals you need all hands on deck even if one of them rode sidesaddle. The whole idea of a woman being a homemaker was always the providence of rich well to do women (ordering their servants around) until the advent of the Industrial Revolution and the explosion in middle class wealth it created. I think what people don't understand about the 19th and 20th centuries is how remarkable they were that a man could support an entire family on one salary while his wife had the freedom to stay home and raise their children without worrying if their family would go under if she didn't work.
The whole point of that little tirade is that the feminist paradigm was always a crock but that the right wing reactionary REEEEEEEE WOMEN SHOULDN'T EVER WORK EVER REEEEEE is equally unmoored in history. If you go out into the developed world you'll find a lot of women working at subsistence levels and raising their children to do the same.
Once you understand that these things are true then you have the power to break the leftist hold over this country and finally tell people something like the truth without the associated right wing baggage and stupidity.
