I believe there was a South African study comparing average IQ of university entrants according to racial group. The black students, all from middle or upper class backgrounds and obviously in the top percentile for Africans in terms of IQ, consistently were a SD below whites and Asians. The evidence for IQ difference according to race is overwhelming. IQ is the one field in the social sciences which is actually falsifiable and of course it's the one field in current year that is the most gas lit.

As much as I sometimes dislike the old guard fundies, soon enough I think we'll all grow to miss them. They were annoying but these new zealots are far more dangerous and subversive. The old guard dying off with the addition of almost guaranteed demographic shifts, we're in for some interesting times and I don't think it will be interesting in a good way.

I hate bringing up money, but it is the lifeblood of any organization; and like we've seen in other things, if money becomes tight, you start relaxing restrictions. I don't go as often as I should (I do see it as beneficial to me, even though I don't "feel The Spirit" as they say); and I can already see parts of it changing, some good, some bad. Utah's somehow got a sizable Polynesian population growing in it, and a number of them are joining the church; they're good, respectable, well behaved, good family bonds, etc. Then at a Christmas potluck, got a girl with tattoos all over her arms looking to start a fight with another family. Y'know it's funny you mention him. I hate to keep powerleveling so I'll try to curb it a bit. I had an ancestor who fled Soviet Russia in the 30's and came to the US to teach. He worked in genetics, and his work (and his colleagues') were basically defying official Soviet "scientific law" at the time. That's because there was a man named Lysenko, who spouted all sorts of pseudoscience nonsense about agriculture and plant genetics. He also plunged Russia into a huge famine because of this. Over time, my ancestor's colleagues began to disappear. Eventually, he read "A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" and was grateful for it; he finally learned what had happened to them.
