CHAZ/CHOP: Autonomous No Cop Zone and Commune Declared In Seattle - Render unto Warlord Raz what is owed to Warlord Raz

Why? Why even bother? Its clearly collapsing on its own, is being memed to death and beyond, has changed its name several times (but the CHAZ name seems to have stuck, even with the desperate attempt of changing it to CHOP). Its providing hours of material for the Republicans to run constantly come November alongside riot footage and is tied almost entirely to the Democrats.

Why waste money and resources on the matter when you can just show these people to be the petty thugs they are that couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery?

I wasn't actually advocating they do that. It's too much of a PR goldmine to let go to waste, and like you said it'll eventually peter out on its own.

I was just stating that if they wanted to end it, how they could do effectively and with the best possible optics.

I thought CHAZ disbanded after they ran out of food. Sounds like they're still around.

You could've told me this was a movie or book and I would've believe it.

IRC, Washington state and the rest of the Northwest is majority Red. Republican and hard core conservative. I don't think they're too welcoming to outsiders. Aren't there legitimately racist people living in the sticks?

I imagine if CHAZ fails, all of Washington will go Red for better or worse. They occupy their own space, which is larger than Seattle.

And isn't it funny that these people order out? Where is the money coming from?

They never ran out of food, that was a photoshop tweet that was debunked in minutes (the person changed their profile pic before that tweet was made). The fact that the debunking didn't work is an example of real time confirmation bias. They're still getting a lot of donations and such.

Geographically Washington state (and the PNW in general) is very much red. But not population-wise. In the Washington Seattle/Olympia I-5 corridor is so blue (progressive even) and population dense that it overwhelms and negates the rest of the state. Same thing in Oregon.

So anything that's democrat oriented and goes to a general state-wide vote in either of those states almost always passes (the exception being some taxes, like a sales tax in Oregon or income tax in Washington).

The state-level political districts aren't aligned with counties (in Oregon and Washington). There's 49 political districts and 39 counties. The extremely blue, population dense counties get multiple districts, while the more sparse, rural counties have multiple counties that are part of 1 political district.

So you end up with state legislatures that are guaranteed to lean more blue than red. In Oregon this has resulted in a democratic super-majority in the legislature, which is why the republicans have to keep walking out to deny a quorum to prevent Oregon from going full crazy with its laws.

That's not actually an accurate representation of what's happened though. Just an accurate representation of what's seen.

The first few sentences are fairly accurate (somewhat liked locally, had a crew and guns, working with the other gun group). That's about accurate.

We'll set aside his crews assaults, extortion, and "stop& frisk" (the last of which stopped cause of optics, the former just happens off camera now) for the moment.

He isn't content to stay in his security niche and *has* taken over parts of the political side. It's just very low key. He gives speeches about how things should be done, and then low and behold they happen that way. He's just not actively micromanaging shit. He has enough support that he says how things should be done, and his followers make it happen. Basically making him the shadow government of CHAZ (lol).

The abuses are those things mentioned above that were set aside. Those get overlooked by the rest of CHAZ, especially since he's not only low-key taken over the general PR, but has his crew actively engages in PR as well. He's not nearly as benign as those folks think.

But because it'll never devolve into an actual full-fledged oppressive tyranny (won't last long enough, not actually their own nation with their own laws) he will likely be held up as a poster child for benevolent authoritarianism. And who knows, maybe he himself would overall be more benevolent than not in the long term.

But the guy that replaces him most likely won't. And he would be replaced eventually.
It's simple logistics, really. Raz wields the greatest capacity to inflict violence, therefore he is in charge. Wither he openly wields that power or not, he is the carrier of the ultimate veto, and thus everything that goes on in CHAZ goes on either under his nose or with his implicit approval, even if that simply comes in the form of him not being bothered to stop whoever's doing it. From there, everything just flows naturally. He can frame his orders as suggestions because he already had the respect of his subjects from being a fairly well-known local figure, thus skipping the need to establish dominance with a show of force. They can make whatever excuses and establish whatever councils they like, but until Raz and his loyalists either cease to be the best-armed group in the Zone or demonstrate that they are unwilling to use lethal force to secure their position, he will be the final word in what goes on in CHAZ.

Was this posted? Memology 101 did a pat 2 of CHAZ

Why does it look like s if the Chazistans are actually conservatives? I mean you have a developing capitalistic system, weapons can be carried, unwanted are deported. I hope nobody breaks that to them less they commit seppuku to regain their lefty honor

Watching iPhone-slinging trust fund babies try and do communism is hilarious, especially how it instantly dissolved into ancap madness, with segregated agriculture and each of them trying to lay claim to their own little bread crumb like a flock of pigeons.

The way to destroy people like this is to put a free 85" TV in a field with a lead weight permanently attached to it to make it difficult to move, and to watch them all fight over it.

I bet someone would smash that TV because some faggot would have an "if I can't have it, no one can" attitude. I'd be surprised if a single one of them didn't have that attitude actually. After all, they can't be happy.

Everything east of the coast is pretty much Idaho with all the screaming libertarians, militia types, and even a few literal neo-Nazis. There's a reason some neo-Nazi tried to move all the White Nationalists there to make a white ethnostate (even if many of the white people are CHAZestanis).

Although maybe the entire region is prone to politically extreme stupidity since is just the mirror image of the Malheur Wildlife occupation done by the Bundy hicks and other militia/patriot nutjobs. Instead of "Republicans aren't right-wing free market enough for me" it's "Democrats aren't left-wing communist enough for me", instead of city people with no jobs it's country people with jobs. And instead of protesting against BLM, they're protesting for BLM.

Biggest difference is one of them is being livestreamed and widely documented because it's such a hilarious clusterfuck of stupidity while the Malheur occupation was just a bunch of hicks waving guns around in between grazing their cows.

There's murmuring that once Amazon pulls a majority of their workforce over to Bellevue Bezos is going to get his other eastside money barons to put in an initiative to pull Bellevue out of King County. After the looting rampage, it wouldn't be a hard sell on the Bellevue population. Seattle and King County have been using property and business owners as their personal ATMs for years now for every stupid project they can come up with, bike lanes dumbass bicyclists won't ride in, bums, drug ODs, etc. and the anger has gone way past the usual Pacific Northwest angrily worded passive-aggressive letter to yelling outright at townhalls and council meetings. For a while now Bellevue has been pushing ads of [paraphrasing] "Sick of the shit all over the streets and expensive parking next to junkie tents? Shop in Bellevue" so I can see them leaving Seattle to deal with its own rapid decline.

Oh you also gotta deal with useless bike lanes taking over peatonal lanes? Fucking damnit. I hate bikes at this point. And bikers just go wherever they please and never respect anyone anyway! Fuck them hard!

Who's going to clean up all this graffiti? Man, the hippies made a mess.

I think this poster nicely sums up the mentality of CHAZ dwellers:

FUCK WORK

You know if instead of wasting so much time, paint and effort in this shit and the BLACK LIVES MATTER sign on the road that's gonna get eroded by use anyway they would've painted some nice murals on the facades, they probably would've looked much better. But of course, hippies.

Seriously I've gotten to seen those murals over here sometimes, where a grafitti artist spotted a wall that's outside of street view so the police won't stop him and decided to paint something gargantuan, and they can get absolutely beautiful, from cartoony cool shit to politically motivated caricatures to I once even saw a really nice depiction of a coastal forest with some boats in the background. You always see that pop on like football fields outside of regular town, semiabandoned areas like the cementery and shit like that. You'd think now they know no cops will stop them some of those grafitti artists over there would go apeshit and make some beautiful works of art. But it seems that when it comes to grafitti as with all professions... the good ones aren't anarchists.

Your story just made me very depressed for some reason and I don't know why
I'd like to hear more about the Spanish civil war though.

I do get that feeling. I think it's just the mundane aspect that gets to you. When you realize that the same way a factory eats parts and shits out product, the front lines just turned into this lazy pointless exercize that eats bullets and shits out misery. Just constantly bombarding areas and having snipers cover fields... no one can move, no change can happen, nothing is gained. You just keep covering the line until something else manages to advance the war effort for weeks on end. War always seems like this grandiose thing, either for its horrors or for its deeds. You always get the tales of the massive game changing events. When you finally realize most of the war effort was a giant exercize in futility with the soldiers basically devolving into the same mentality as office drones, sitting around in the cafetteria and lazily doing their mundane routine day in day out, as the explosions and shaking ground become background noise no different from coworkers passing by the desk and cars on the street... It's kind of fucked up in an existential level.

I do have more tales of the civil war. Some more horrifying than others. Like the penal legions... Both sides of the spanish civil war, early on specially, used penal legions. Their use was a whole new level of fucked up. What they did is they gave each prisoner a spade and a uniform, and dumped them into the middle of the field, when preparing to attack. The idea was that since the prisoner wanted to survive they'd be forced to dig trenches to avoid the artillery fire, and since the enemy just saw people with uniforms, they would shoot at them on sight if they tried to go back to their side. And if they died they were prisoners anyway. So... Yeah, win/win. Worst part of that isn't the fact that they did it though. It's the fact that it worked. There's a reason the soviets later copied it in WW2. It was surprisingly and horrifyingly effective, so long as you ignored the concept of humanity.

You know it's funny. We had spaniards fighting in ww2 on all sides. The blue divisions for hitler, the republican forces in exile for churchil, spanish exiled partisans for the french and even communist civil war veteran divisions for stalin. And universally you see the same pattern emerge, it's like no matter the ideology they all shared common traits. One of said traits was humanity. Specially on the eastern front, spaniards simply refused to be as brutal as hitler or stalin would like them to be, and the enemy was often relieved to find they were captured by the blue division or civil war veterans. I do sometimes wonder if such civility came from the fact that something inside of them remembered what happened in spain and simply refused to fall that low anymore. No matter what. It's easy to hate commies/fascists and dehumanize them at first, but as we indeed see on other countries, soldiers in charge of concentration camps slowly came to hate their duty as they interacted with prisoners and started resenting commiting such acts. The conditioning simply can't resist after you've seen enough horrors. So it is likely that quite simply, only reason spaniards couldn't dehumanize their enemy anymore was they had already seen where that takes you.

And talking about dehumanization and mundanity. It's kinda funny. Nowadays we have a lot of fights about who to celebrate in our past. It's easy to guess why as the civil war and dictatosrhip were so recent... I mean seriously, we have only had 7 presidents. Think about that. See the list of presidents other countries have? Our democracy is so young there's only 7 of them here. And only reason the number isn't 6 is one of them only lasted 1 year due to a coup. But point is, some refuse to acknowledge those who fought on the blue divisions, which has caused controversy in the past. And to some degree it's easy to see why. The blue divisions were the volunteer corps franco sent to aid hitler. So you can see why some see them as unredeemable monsters. But then you find out things, things like the fact that leaders of those divisions actually hated the horrors franco had unleashed with his "white terror" (concentration camps) and were some of the most moderates in the army, and that's precisely why Franco sent them away to where they couldn't harm him, and why at one point they asked Hitler for help, but he refused to piss off spain further, fearing the guerrillas. There is another anecdote which makes it even funnier, and again, far more mundane. And that is the soldiers. Mental image many have of the blue divisions is this fascist uberkorps of veterans who wanted to extinguish democracy in the west. Reality often disapoints... most soldiers in the divisions enlisted for the same reason, they just couldn't find a job elsewhere due to economic depression and civilian life being hard to adapt to due to the mental scars of the war, or simply liked the army due to the sense of belonging and having orders given to them instead of being phased by the uncertainty of "freedom" but the regular army wouldn't take them in because they weren't able enough. Amongst the famous ones, Luis Garcia Berlangs, who later became a cinema director, thought of enlisting to woo a girl, and later discovered if he enlisted they would pardon his father, who fought for the republicans, so he joined. Luis Ciges needed money for his sick mom, and despite fighting in mltherfucking Leningrad actually refused to ever kill anyone, only acting like it and shooting at the ground. That is not to say they all were like that, for example Juan Jose Sanz joined to fight communism. But they even got Jose Luis Pinnillos, who joined so he could be in the front lines to continue his academic studies on the mentality of soldiers and would become one of the fathers of psychology because of them. Btw if you're wondering, Berlanga didn't get the girl, but he did became an actor and director, sex symbol and got married, so I'm fairly sure that guy fucked more than enough not to care.

Point is, war is odd. Reality itself is fucking weird. And the weirdest part of all is how mundane things can become. It's almost a meme now that killing nazis is free karma, all games and fictional works treat it that way, but when you hear of some of their soldiers being actual pacifists that never even shot anyone and just wanted to take care of their sick mom, or a fucking scientist just using his time in the army to understand and treat the biological roots of trauma and not thinking of the war effort at large or ideology... It feels like it shouldn't be that way. It feels wrong in a way, that people are dying en masse, killing each other for fucking ideology, when in the end, they're all just people.

Some things that happened yesterday:

Somebody gets taken into an ambulance after inhaling a mixture of "stuff" and falls unconscious.

Lady freaks out in the street.

Firefighter Raz saves the day.

Big confrontation last night:

Mob descends onto a local business after a rumor starts that the owner has someone at gunpoint.

Nobody was held at gunpoint. One of the protesters broke into the business and tried to start a fire. Got into a scuffle with the owner, ran and told the mob they had someone at gunpoint.

Conversation with the security guard, the guy who tried to burn the business down left some of his stuff.

Conversation with the business owner, “I can’t even get the police to show up, I can’t get the fire department to show up ... and this kind of mob stuff, that doesn’t work.”

OMG, this is hilarious. During this part they're trying to do "the human microphone" like they used to do at OWS, and it's totally failing because the zoomers just don't get it:

Here zoomers, here's the human mic tutorial from a decade ago LMAO:

"Absolutely no drugs in this park or alcohol", LMAO, both those rules were violated then and the violation thereof is openly being flaunted right now at the SeattleTAZ.

Oh, OK, it seems like they did figure out the human mic eventually, good job zoomers:

"I need a haircut" LMAO. Getting a haircut at the TAZ:

"It has nothing to do with the government, dude. It's about the hearts of the people. I care about every man. I care about every woman. I care about every person in America, and my heart's broken for them. I want people to change, period. No matter what color their skin is, no matter what color their clothes are, I want people to change. Isn't that what you want? I want this place to be a better place where my children can grow up--everyone's children can grow up--and live free in this country. That's what I want. And I hope that's what everybody else here wants, because that's what I want."

Wow. Amazing. One might actually be deceived into thinking that this was a moving speech, but a more perceptive person would notice that he didn't actually say anything at all. Notice that? Notice how the veiled, appeasing, euphemistic language of the average American has robbed him both of his ability to reason and to impart any shred of meaning?

The one defining element in his spiel is fear. Not the fear of violent confrontation, but the fear of being judged.

Note how he says he cares about every man, and then quickly and unnecessarily corrects himself with "woman" and "person" also, to be more gender-inclusive, heedless of the fact that the word man means human and is an adequate descriptor for the entire species.

Then, he says that he wants people to change no matter what the color of their skin is, but then quickly appends an asinine statement about the color of their clothes, because his two remaining brain cells were suddenly desperate to vomit out a category other than race so that his philosophizing wouldn't seem too racial. Try as he might, whilst circling the Monopoly board inside his head, he just couldn't manage to drag out obvious ones like economic class, and so, his thimble lands on Nordstrom.

He ends his spiel by appealing to the consumerist sentimentality of his fellow American.

By better place, he means a place where people can have leisure.

By freedom, he means the freedom to buy plastic junk from China while saddling oneself with ludicrous debt.

In his head, the ideal American is a passive, sessile polyp. More coral reef than human.

Only now do we see the sickness laid bare.

Seems like a faction of the CHAZ is going with the narrative that this isn't an autozone and that they aren't trying to succeed from the US . They're also pushing the name change to CHOP.

Meanwhile, another speaker is comparing the protest to the french revolution. Kind of a bad revolution to look up to because you know...napoleon.

Fox news runs photoshopped images of protestors.
