Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

I disagree.

Almost every third party we've had in the modern era has been inept and borderline retarded. They are either living in the extremes or they take a centrist message and then also throw in the destruction of polluting industry or the removal of any and all regulation as a core issue, which drives people away. Either way it's just a hypothetical and not going to happen. But I wanted to modulate what Last Stand had said because it wasn't a realistic suggestion. Winning the Presidency is nice but sustained power and influence comes from being viable to begin with. You can win the Executive Branch after you've won the war to become noticed and have your voice heard in the Legislative Branch.

A functional third party in Congress and in the public sphere is more important and useful than a lame duck in the Oval Office.
That’s why they remained third parties. I think this is survivorship bias, no offense.

I dislike much of her jurisprudence, but you really have to respect her tenacity to willingly take up the Golden Throne to hold back the enemy as long as she can, even when you are the enemy. The left should hate her for not retiring under Obama though.
If we had far-right politicians and judges with that level of tenacity the country would be much better off.

Nobody likes being disowned by much of their peer group. It happened to Dershowitz, whatever else you may want to say about him.

Or you just unironically lose your ability to focus on the funny and start taking shit seriously.

Comedy and seriousness usually fails to mix since the latter is like chocolate to dogs; it kills in large doses. This is especially the case if you're pissed and/or scared. Pissed and/or scared people tend to suck at comedy.

it doesn't help that spaces where you can actually laugh get more and more rare.
and the rare doom/blogpost is still rare enough that it's easy to skip, this thread is over three thousand pages long, it's so statistically insignificant that it means people get triggered over nothing - and even if it gets worse they are free to make their own thread, like it happened in the past.

A lot of right wing media types making the rest of us look like the caricature of homophobes the left calls us. Some are not surprising, like Erick Erickson. I was disappointed to see Mollie Hemingway though because I find her very level headed and rational and usually agree with her on everything.

The right has got to stop acting like the left so much. The case shouldn't be judged based on your desired outcome. Even if you disagree with being gay, Gorsuch's argument is sound I believe. Namely, if you fire a man for being gay, you are in effect firing a man for being interested in men. If you would only fire a man for being interested in men, but you wouldn't fire a woman for being interested in men, you are in fact discriminating on the basis of sex.

This shoot the messenger thing is what the left does all the time with, say, Trump and his taxes. Just because the judge didn't rule in your favor doesn't mean the judge is corrupt or compromised.

The right is also starting to pearl clutch like the left. I can't remember what conservative it was, but several months back they were sick and almost died or did die or something like that. And the right clutched its pearls about how despicable it was for the left to wish death on them. I was like, 'C'mon guys. Let's all stop pretending like we're not also eagerly waiting for RBG's seat to come open soon.'
Maybe the right is jealous of the Left's cultural power and has resolved to copy their tactics. They must have come to believe that the left's political strategy is just much more advanced than the right's, a similar gulf as the military tech gap between the Romans and the Germanic tribes in Augustus' time, and along comes the Right's Arminius in the form of Trump, a defector who tries to close this gap by exposing the Left's weaknesses.

Unfortunately, that really won't work. The moderate-to-far left's tactics only work because they have no principles; this unfortunately does not apply to most of the moderate right-wing.
The "right" (neocons anyway) tried to do the whole post-fact politics thing using cultural power with the comments on reality based communities, and to some extent they succeeded. Consider the media support for the Iraq War, the pushing of the Patriot Act, etc.

Going further back, you had narratives around the war on drugs. Remember D.A.R.E. and all the transparent lies they told you about pot being the "gateway drug", dramatically overstating dangers of them, intrusive employment etc practices like drug testing, etc? The same tortured logic of "a is b is c is drugs" that we see today applied to "hate" and gender pseudoscience.

I am offended that you felt it necessary to say "no offense" you fucking faggot.

Why do you all "If you support Trump you support" things always sound the same, it's honestly kind of boring.

I like how democrats think Trump has absolute power when the House is blue and is complicit in some of the problems affecting the country.
People have no idea how the US government works. Big reason why people are so big on Presidency when who controls the Congress is actually the most important part.
