Mental illness. Narcs, BPDs, and occasionally bipolar people will all invent random crap for no apparent reason (though in the case of your average narc they're doing it to insulate and protect their ego).
Basically, the human brain is built to acknowledge things that make it happy and ignore things that make it feel bad. This instinct goes into overdrive in people who are unwell.

I traced my family back to the 1400s. There was nobody of importance for me to find. They were just regular average people like myself. It's probably better to just imagine that "we wuz kangs" than to find out that you are descended from peasants. And even if I had descended from royalty, it would only show that my branch of the family tree were complete fuck ups because we're all a bunch of nobodies now.

I print B.S. company directives and use them as coasters for my coffee, tea, water, or whatever drink I have with me. If their is a fly in my office even better, I just use the HR notice to crush the fly. Any paper not used to kill flies is taken by me for target practice. I have shoot and see stickers that I put on the directives and down the range they go.

If you're looking for a spouse, partner count is one thing to take into consideration, but if hunting down and bagging a virgin becomes a fetish, it will become a problem. A lot of men who are obsessed with virgins are like those guys who go to Japan looking for a kawaii girlfriend - they want a doormat who'll think their dick is big. It's all down to insecurity. Most women who live outside of a major city are pretty normal and non-obsessed with sex, and those who are obsessed with sex and partying usually advertise themselves. If you absolutely must have a virgin, prepare to search for a homeschooled, hyper-religious farmgirl, and prepare to deal with some weirdness on her end. Living an insular life makes one ...awkward.
Print out a picture of that "street art", make a giant vinyl decal of it, and stick it to your HR Director's back car window. Tell her (I don't have to ask you to know it's a HER) that you thought she would enjoy some BLM-positive artwork in her life.

So the entire academic profession is filled with basketcases or what? If they did live in this imaginary Facism Trump State they think they exist in. How do they explain that they can put up posters and pinatas at festivals shaming Trump, how do they rationalize taking over parts of a city? They'd be dead, the military would come in and kill them. In fact before they ever did that, their social media posts would be found and them and their entire families would be gone. That's what happens in a fascist state.

A very late followup, since I don't recall seeing this posted. Two weeks ago at the start of the riots, there was a video posted of a guy who disarmed an antifa rioter by taking a looted AR-15 away from him. Looks like there was an interview with the guy who took the rifle and cleared it a few days after.
As we speculated, he's ex-Marine, and he was there on security detail for a news crew. But it turns out that was the second rifle he recovered from Antifa. The rifle you see around his neck was recovered a few minutes earlier, from another Antifa member looting a different cop car. The first guy had actually fired it a couple of times before this badass jumped him with a Glock.
It's a great story and he tells it very well, worth listening forat least the first 15 minutes the whole thing is great.
