But why does Dina and her child leave them? Did they just want to put it in as a fuck you to the protagonist and/or the player who has undoubtedly become attached to her. Is there any reason why Dina would have abandoned Ellie? I thought they were supposed to be in WUV or something?
It's an awful thing for Ellie, but it kind of makes sense if you look at it from Dina's point of view.
The person you love is leaving you to hunt a deranged serial killer who has many friends on their side, despite you telling them you
do not want them to go. Said killer has been traveling the country killing anyone based on their first name alone, tortured and murdered a man minutes after he saved her life and already beat both you and your lover to almost death before. You are lucky both you and your lover are even alive after that.
If anything goes wrong and your lover gets caught or killed, the murderer and her friends may come after you again to make sure you won't go after her later. If your lover succeeds and kills the murderer, her friends may come after you to get revenge.
None of this shit concerns you anymore, you've let the past go to live your life and you're expecting a child you can raise with the one you love. Again, you explicitly tell your lover to
leave that murderous bodybuilder the fuck alone because it's extremely dangerous and them going could be disastrous for them, you and the baby. But they go anyway.
A future with you and your child is less important to them than getting revenge, and if anything goes wrong you and your unborn child will be in grave danger. So despite loving the person, you pack up and leave because you have to look out for yourself and your child, and this whole "revenge cycle" has nothing to do with you.
