Why does this need to be in the video game?

It doesn't even matter that neither of them are attractive, though it'd at least make the pill easier to swallow. Why is this scene important? What does it add to the story? What interactive enjoyment will the player derive from sitting through it? If it doesn't serve the plot or the gameplay it doesn't need to be in it.

Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit had a sex scene back in 2005 and it was just as awkward, sex scenes in videogames are cringeworthy by default. The Witcher series made the best attempt at it though. Also the women in those games are much hotter.
