The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

As someone who loved it, from both a narrative and mechanical point, it was a good departure from the normal kind of games we were used to. Even survival horror for the most part wasn't too survival-y or horror-y. But this one was this bleak emptiness that just kept kicking you while your down. And was written competently. Even the ending fit the story and ark. You never feel like a super powered god. You have low ammo and need to think. No rambo-ing.

I agree that it's executed well it just isn't really my thing. Although I will say there's a huge gap in the writing that doesn't seem to be officially addressed (although I'm familiar with this theory through fans): the Fireflies come off as kind of incompetent, which really helps to justify Joel's decision at the end of the game and turn it away from being "morally ambiguous" which I feel was the intention.

I went from almost sick to sides in orbit mode for now half an hour.

This game is an emotional rollercoaster for all the wrong reasons, you couldn't fault anyone saying this.

where they have a moral blank check and thus get to indulge in their violent urges.
i was talking with someone who noted leftists repress so hard and ruin entertainment only to make it worse in all the areas they complained about only not tailored to straight cis males. oh violence? nope have to censor blood and even minor gore unless its against conservatives, also cant suggest violence is ok unless against a racist either. oh want sex appeal? nope normal women like kelly gets rose ticoed and turned into an androgynous person while males and unrealistic trans bodies and mannish women are sexualized instead. all made by a pervert fetishizing lesbians and trans while decrying men for looking at tifas tits or preferring them to be bigger

Mechanic wise I am Alive did the post-apocalyptic setting way better than TLOU. One of the gameplay mechanics was that ammo was so rare, but you could bluff opponents into thinking you have a loaded weapon ala mad max. It was also received about as well as TLOU should have been, slightly above average scores across the board. Judged completely on its own merits TLOU was an average game, not great, but functional and generally entertaining. What made me hate it so much was the fan base and how overrated it was. It was literally banded about as the citizen lane of video games, which it absolutely was not. Games I would consider to be the best from a narrative perspective would be like Baldurs Gate 1 & 2, or Bioshock, or, and I know I'll get a puzzle piece for this one specifically, Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. Each and every one of those examples actually has well-written plots with gameplay that compliments the narrative. They all also subvert player expectations without treating them like they are stupid. TLOU only had "hurr durr surrogate daughter = deep"

But story does matter in video games, I argue the more mechanically complicated a game is the more important a well crafted story is to make all the "busy work" within a game more worthwhile.

I don't think I'd particularly enjoy exploring the Von Braun in System Shock 2 had it not been for reading the diaries of the doomed crew. Deus Ex wouldn't be the same without the Cyberpunk thriller running seemlessly with the gameplay.

The thing is Naughty Dawg has only made it their expertise to make linear cinematic games. Which isn't a bad thing at all. But when you got a guy who clearly doesn't understand how to make a story calling the shots you've got a gigantic failure.
Wrong. Wrong, wrong, and wrong. You know what caring about "the storyline" in vidya gets you.

A trannys dick shoved down your throat.

The only thing that matters is actual gameplay.

lol, gameplay in TLOU2. The gameplay in the first one was bland as shit and this will be even blander.
I am taking back everything what I said about ME3, you are no longer the worst ending in history. Please come back!

Millions of people will be playing a game where the designer actively hates and despises them, where it is for him and him alone and it is an entire 30+ hour experience of his sadisim fetish on display that he masturbated countless times to.

We're just like Hollywood now, baby! We're ART!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!
...well, beyond that movie runs what, three hours and was like $10 to see in a theater?

The last time I heard someone say something like that, it was after some bird had just shoved rancid Spaghetti-O's up her spam-purse.

If what I've seen in the past months from my videogame normalfag circles applies to the rest of the world too, then this game will sell millions based only on the name and critic votes.

This is Pokémon Sword and Shield all over again. Consoomerism always wins.
Yes but that will just make the result even more interesting how many people will actually bite into this piece of shit, how many will like it and how many will hate it. either way it will prove short term to be profitable but I just don't see this having any other effect then making the brand radioactive for a decade at least if only due to having such a controversial entry two games in, with all the fanboy wars that come with it. it juts doesn't have the good will shit like poketmang has if hypothetically they make a 3rd game.

Everyone is. The entirety of the game, you keep learning about how safe zones are falling apart, and everything they are fighting for is dieing. It's not the end of the world, but we can see it from here sort of thing. Which is a huge plot point, that I think they just ignore in the third game. Even the cult that hates gays could easily be redone to be a cult trying to speed it up. Sneaking infected spores in and destroying zones with clickers and shit like that. Instead we get "them fucking queermos" kind of story.

So I guess their was a sex scene between Abby and Neils mexican self insert after all. Lower bottom part of the image.

Edit: So on top of Abbhs being a murderous psychopath she-beast, she's also slut. I really shouldn't be that surprised since this games writing is the equivalent of an young adult novel. Though you adult novels mostly have interesting premises at least TLOU2 doesn't even have that.
