Liam is making an analogy by contrasting Comicsgate against the video covering the rise and fall of the punk rock scene, a very beloved part of his identity. Summarized, the video describes punk rock's origins as speaking truth to power against the artifices of the mass media corporate culture. The original tenets of punk rock, formed from reaction to the artificial ideologies around them expressed itself in anarchic nihilism as a way of tearing down false ideals or spooks. But, as the documentary goes on to cover, eventually the punk rock scene eventually started forming subgroups of different opinion of what was 'punk' and what was not, and in the absence of defining characteristics became increasingly conformist in styles, ideas and music. Punk rock, formed originally as "anti-trend" and an expression of primordial truth instead became an anachronism as dogmatic groups within the scene proved unable and unwilling to adapt or answer to resulting questions.

Comicsgate, as parallel, started as a rebellion against the mainstream industry status quo, in response to their treatment of customers, their lowering wages, their decreasing quality of work, their political content, the projected collapse of the entire business model. Initially, the community was united in speaking the truth of what was wrong with the establishment. However, as it became clear that the establishment had no intent of giving in to any of their demands or responding to boycotts or protests, there became differing opinions on how to go about realize the desired change people wanted to see. And differing people had differing priorities. Edgelords wanted the free speech absolutism, Christians wanted free expression of religion, more just wanted higher quality comics or to be engaged with an e-celeb, Mitch Breitweiser wanted other people's money. I've tried to convey this to Liam, but he's more of the mind that these are just petty differences driven by ego and that putting them aside and "speaking truth" is what would put these schisms to an end. Yet, to all parties involved, what they wanted were true within the vague & nebulous guidelines that are "CG Principles".

As I've said in the past, Liam has an antinomian zeal and conviction that borders on the fanatical in its intensity, and this doubtless gives him a strong connection to the Truth (as he sees it). This is somewhat hampered because of his deep desire for people to be his friend and like him, which illsuits a would-be rebel, and it's not without a little irony by saying "fuck Zack" and by breaking off to go about Comicsgate in his own way, he's actually embracing Zack's more individualist interpretation of CG. As for what's in store for him, I can't really say - he's a bit unpredictable like that.

Yellowflash recently covered the controversy surrounding Marvel's Avengers game removing an "offensive" image of Captain America.

Watching this now. @VIkkiVerse has an interesting theory about Ethan looking for a way to "forgive" Ro so he can bring him back into the fold of Ethan's ComicsGate. The obvious homoerotic overtones in Ethan's relationship with Ro are hinted at but not discussed though.

Also Ethan begins to gaslight that the WC members he has a problem with are all "new members" who appeared out of nowhere. The likelihood of the shrinking WarCampaign accumulating several new members acting as a fifth column of sorts to destroy WC from within seems to be what he's going for here. Prepare for the recycled "Ro dindunuffin" narrative to be dusted off. Very homosexual.

The "new" members are almost certainly alts of existing members. Sock puppets and gay ops are standard operating procedure within the group and the "new" members seem very up to date on all the lore and dynamics of CG/WC.

Look I'm going to talk facts. Comics pay is shit. Ethan Van Sciver may have pulled around 60k a year full time working for the big 2 and that's on the very HIGH end. Most of these "pros" make 10-20k a year at best.
People will fuck you over any way they can to elevate their profile in comics. Mf's out there will slit your throat for no other reason than to get a few likes on twitter.
"Mentoring" young women is stupid as shit. Fuck women. If you're in comics you should live and breathe the code "bros before hoes".
A shitty career being an art slave is not worth risking to help some 20 something thirsty ass bitch get a gig working on 4 pages in a low selling comic book.
Using books meant for children to pick up girls is pathetic and if you do that you probably deserve what you get.
The only thing I can surmise is that these are lonely dudes who see a woman interested in their hobby and decide she's dating material, so they hit on them or drunkenly invite them back to their convention hotel room for a one night tryst.

I'm part of comic scene and for last 10 years I both went to those afterparties and saw stuff and have my own stories. They are exactly what you would expect: drunken people doing drunken stuff and nothing would surprise you, because we all saw this shit at our aunts birthdays or some other family functions.
I can't help to think that this shit is design to treat young women like mindless children, because yes, I saw few of those comics pros flirting with youngings, but who the fuck am I to stop it? Do I ID a pro and ask if he's married with no sexual offender records? Do I ID a girl and ask her if she drawn up a consent form in 3 copies? What am I, or any bystander, moral police? And then what? I stop them from fucking and I am blasted on social media by the chick and blacklisted by the guy? The expectations they are trying to place on other people to nanny other adults is fucked up. Fuck off Kate Leth. (Met her too, she tries too hard to be likeable, but reads as catty.)

(Tho I would act if I saw something was trying to force themselves or something, but so far none of the accusers said that was the case. Nothing they talk about was forced, they were all "manipulated" into those situations by old lustful satyrs and they are all pure little angels. No self reflection or taking personal responsibility.)

I do agree with Chip it's just sad. It's sad for thots that have either such low self esteem they look for daddies and then when nothing came out of it they wanna take them down, and it's sad for tgose guy that they have to go for young chicks, because they need their thrills at cheap cost and women their age are too expensive to maintain.

The comics industry thrives on various forms of abuse, mostly abuse of positions of power and influence. SJW's have infiltrated every company and every form of comics, from the big 2 to shitty webcomics and $10 animal crossing avatar commissions.
Anyone familiar with the furry art community knows well that comics are full of degeneracy. Even the big 2 have sex abusing weirdos that can't keep their hands off female employees and 16 year old convention girls.
It's an open secret that there are women in comics you can fuck for money. (Ethan's very own Sheila Allen, anyone?)
