In this context, the first game was like a parable of original sin, with Joel gunning down a bunch of poor widdle Fireflies to protect the "family" he'd formed with his adopted daughter. TLoU2 makes more sense if you see the entire thing as a ham-fisted apology for having a middle-aged, brown-haired Caucasian protag in the last game. The problem with this, however, is that everyone liked Joel, even a fairly good portion of the woke crowd.

Imagine that. Imagine writing a character who's so well-liked, clever, and pragmatic that he literally gets away with shooting a black woman in the face when he's white. Now imagine squandering all of that on this shitshow. Wow, Naughty Dog. Bravo.
