the SA was also very orderly, disciplined, and well-organized. the SA was more geared towards common working class men, while the SS was for middle and upper class men, with a bigger focus on elitism, racial purity, ideological training, and much closer connections to the nazi party hierarchy.
after the SA leadership got purged, the organisation remained as it was, and mostly served to provide boots on the ground in large numbers for party events and operations, while the SS effectively controlled large parts of the nazi state and its institutions.
