Y'know, reading through the older pages, The Last of Us 2 is actually the platonic example of an Anti-Aesop. It certainly reads like a laundry list of what not to do when pursuing revenge. Among others: Don't whimp out in the last moment, make their death as painful as possible. Be a precision missle strike, not a nuclear bomb. Murder every associate of your target in front of them before forcing them to fight you. Demonstrate to the world why it's a bad idea to kill your friends and family.

Like seriously, Ellie should've slit the throat of Abby's little sex-toy before emptying her shotgun in her guts and letting her bleed to death.

Maybe if the game showed any of those events and based the story off those bad things that would be a point but it isnt, it's based around a fairly reasonable action you have no control over.

Maybe if at ANY point Druckmann remembered or cared that he was making a videogame and not a film, there could have been meaningful choices about whether you kill people or let them go, multiple endings etc but nah, Druckmann wanted to hamfist this exact garbage story in.

Comparing this game to RDR2 is a good example of how badly druckmann fucked up the ending. Even the fight in this looks way shittier than Arthur's TB adventure.
