I pray we get more competent small-team developers to make some real bangers. As attractive as the fidelity of AAA games may have, game development should have had more small-business developers by now. Unfortunately, most indie devs now either unrealistically chase after AAA levels of development, or go the "OH WOW LOOK AT HOW WACKY THIS 10 MINUTE GAME IS!"A few years ago a crash definitely would have saved the industry, but now? Now it's just going to give room for apple and amazon to slide in. Realistically, the gaming industry SHOULD have crashed in 2012, and things would have gotten better, but we've been subjected to an increasingly more cynical and nefarious set of monetization schemes ever since in order to stave off the crash that would have happened in 2012.
We need more "A Hat in Time"s.
