It used to prove you could do a modicum of independent research and write a paper in Standard American English. Hiring someone with a humanities degree meant you had a worker with initiative, the ability to learn independently, and the skills to communicate professionally. This is no longer true.

There is also some value in assembling a team with a wide diversity of thought. Contrary to claims made by the "dead white male/western civ has got to go" morons, study of the humanities used to inculcate that kind of diversity. The suppression of free thinking in favor of idpol Diversity (TM) has negated that benefit because no matter what someone studies, they have the same tired opinions about the evil white male patriarchy.

Regardless of education, most people are braindead with technology and useless in an office environment anyway. This is why the productivity gains promised by automation have stagnated. I would rather hire an autist who taught himself to code than someone with a master's degree, and I'm not even in IT.

I've worked in offices all my life, no college at all, and am very good at streamlining processes and procedures with technology. Because I'm older, I've converted a few small offices who used paper forms for everything to all computer-based. I've worked in many different disciplines and on more than one occasion, have worked myself out of a job for doing so (fire me, hire a part-timer). That's the real reason why the gains are stagnant, they don't want to give the worker any of the benefits the company reaps, it all goes into their pockets one way or another. I now do only the minimum I need to to a) make my job easier and b) shine just enough to get raises.

Driving on errands yesterday, I passed a Juneteenth protest. Mostly saw the tail end of it as the front of the march had already turned the corner. Looks like the city officials had stuck it on back-streets and residential areas where it would cause the least amount of disturbance. I'd guess there were a couple hundred people, which to be honest, is fairly impressive for a suburban, predominantly Republican city.

In other news, while I was at the Academy Sports and Outdoors, I noticed that the ammo shelves were all but empty, and there was a line at the gun counter.

That's the version of event described by Walter F. White, a civil rights activist on the NAACP's payroll. I'm a bit skeptical on some of the finer details though. It's generally agreed upon that the black community was concerned about a potential lynching, asked the sheriff to provide protection, were told he'd call them if needed, and then a group of 25 armed men showed up anyways. The sheriff convinced them to leave, but they came back, this time with 75 armed men. Somehow this turned into shots being fired (White claims that a white nationalist started it, but he doesn't cite any witnesses or sources for this) between the white group outside the sheriff's office and the black group, resulting in 10 white men and two black men dead. From there, things spiraled out of control.

I am really getting to the point where I think Trump will lose. Tucker is right. This entire crisis, and the Corona one before that, has been a perfect opportunity for him to win the election, and he's ruined it. With Corona, he was doing great in his leadership and press conferences, til he got sucked into sparring with the press and doubling down on shit they were mocking him about like hydroxychoroquine. With this crisis, he has made himself look ineffectual and having no power to fix it. Key members of his staff and military are basically in open rebellion and won't allow him to use force. Any chance he's had to step in and take control of the narrative he's ignored. His only playbook is to just hold rallies and bask in the adulation of his base and think that's going to guarantee a win. Unless he pulls a rabbit out of his hat, he's going to get his ass kicked by Biden and by February President Stacy Abrams will be undoing every Executive Order he's ever done.


I also think that the Democrats in charge see the extremist statue topplers and police abolishers of the SJW movement and Antifa as useful idiots. I don't think your average Democrat who is enabling this and cheering it on really wants to see our history erased. The problem is, they think that once they use the extremists to get power, the extremists will shut up and we can roll our life back to the time of Obama and Bill Clinton with a few new things like gay marriage and legal pot.

The reality is they are stoking the fires of groups who want to end America and replace it with a new fascist socialist dictatorship. The funny thing is, those of us who are observant have seen this coming for years. We've seen it in colleges. We've seen it online. A great example many people here saw firsthand was on Something Awful. The small "l" liberal Admins like Zach, Fistgrrl, Ozma, Finn, promoted an increasingly far left Liberal Social Justice group of Moderators. They watched with glee as those mods banned wrongthink, kicked out racists and Republicans, allowed LF to terrorize GBS. They thought they controlled the extremists. Then they found to their horror they didn't, and one by one the Admins stepped down and left a site they no longer felt was home. I remember when SS doxxed Finn and he was hiding in his soccer shitposting megathread, whining about how he couldn't even make jokes on SA anymore.

The same will happen to the Democrats if they win. The statues of Washington and Grant won't just go back up. We won't roll back to 2016 like nothing happened. They have no control of this but think they do.

Even in rural deeply red states in the heartland of America. There was a significant presence of socialist/communist professors even in the stem/geography departments. I purposefully avoided the humanities as much as possible because I know I'd get kicked out of the class. If it's anything like my experience back in the day when I used to watch Jon Oliver, it's partly the deranged(my experience with one co-worker), and some normal people who will watch it because "Comedian said orange man bad". Nobody ever repeated anything from it 2-3 days after an episode aired, so even if people had their opinions led on a certain topic, nobody truly cared about the issue anyway.
I grew extremely tired of the repetitive content these people were churning out, and I think even regular people did as well, since people stopped talking about Trump as frequently somewhere in the 1-2 year range of his presidency. In summary, yes people still think these people are worth listening to, but people also get tired of listening to the same thing hammered over their head for years straight.
