Er.... just make him a "new character" with a "new name" and say wogglebug gave you the inspiration? You know it's meant to be wogglebug, we know it's meant be wogglebug, but people wont look that deep and it's less weird to use your own "character" than creepily latching on to an Oz one. You dont even want it to take place in Oz, literally just pay someone $10 to edit the design slightly (make less repulsive and horrifying in a 2d format), name him bugglewug and there: original character. Like, you can make bugs tolerable for kids, I remember watching Growing up Creepie and The Buzz on Maggie and as a kid and I hated even looking at pictures of bugs, yet was able to watch those, because they were 'cute'.

I mean, obviously this is a shit idea and you wouldn't use it anyways but distancing yourself from woggle, even a small amount like the name, would be beneficial imo.

I like the name Wogglebug and the character behind it too much to change them. And as long as both are public domain I will use them.

Cynthia, being creative and creating your own characters and giving them actual personalities isn't so hard, come on, even fucking Chris Chan managed to do it, ffs

Well, I am VERY excited to announce that I dug the play-doh out of the garage and found my movie notes and I'm going to jump back into my stop-motion Wogglebug movie. I largely dropped the project after some technical issues but I am ready to animate some Woggly action again!
My stop motion skills are rudementary at best so I make no guarantee that he's going to be 50 feet tall and breathe fire and have six arms AND a gun, but I can promise that my movie includes live-action bugs and Dr. Mantis will be in it.

And how do you think I should make him better? And I don't mean to include being 50 ft tall, fire-breathing, and, or uzi wielding.
This picture is really fun and looks like a cheerful wintertime scene. The Wogglebug may not be teaching a lesson right now, but that's okay, having adventures in winter is good on its own.

The artwork looks appropriate for a children's book and if the story was something simple like the Wogglebug teaching about the different seasons you might have a winner on your hands.

On the other hand, this is memorable too. For very different reasons.

It still looks generic, mind you. But at least the cute art style won't scare anybody way.
I actually do have a picture book about the Wogglebug teaching about seasons.
If he breathe fire, he could help some neighbor with clearing their snow covered driveway.

I just never learned [to drive]. And as of now I just feel I'm not actually in a condition where I could successfully learn.
Why not?
Those really, truly are his own words from an email he sent me after the script was completed. I would just never make up his words when he is my friend of course. And I really like him for his use of words.
He's only your "friend" because you paid him. Real friends, like that one Jesus freak who wrote Frog(?)/Wogglebug fanfiction with you, you drive away. Ironic, since you can't drive.
Of course I have talent for a franchise, and any areas I am lacking in a little I just hire freelancers to help me with.
You are talented at making an ignorant ass of yourself, but little else.

We're coming up on the thread's six year anniversary and it's still same shit different day. This has to be one of the site's oldest threads that still gets semi-regular activity.

What's the total amount of (other people's) money you have spent on, or related to, Wogglebug?
I have no idea to be honest.

So at this point, how much of Cynthia's continued investment in Wogglebug is blind will, and how much is sunk cost fallacy?

This.

Cynthia, just name the damnable beast "Dandybug". I'm giving this one to you. "Wogglebug" isn't exactly a solid Christian name to latch onto anyway. Ido's already mentioned that with the character diversions and location changes you've made, your Wogglebug is very much in-name-only. Maybe it's following the Sonichu naming scheme, but Dandybug at least communicates what you've taken from the character, and is much easier to pronounce for the young children that are supposedly your audience.

For the record I always loved the Face from the old Nick Jr.

My heart is too set on building a fandom for Mr. Wogglebug now to turn to making my own character.

And how do you think I should make him better? And I don't mean to include being 50 ft tall, fire-breathing, and, or uzi wielding.
He should never use the word "love" in any context, especially relating to children in general or specific child characters. Maybe your aspergers gives you a blind spot about that, but it comes off as creepy.
Don't make him cry, and definitely don't make him seek comfort from child characters. Again, that's creepy. Also, children watching will think he's pathetic.
No hugging! This will make kids think he's both pathetic and creepy.

In all honesty the Wogglebug's model in Cynthia's "movies" reminds me an awful lot of the animatronics in the FnaF games. Seriously - you could put that model into the first game doing a creepy pose on one of the security cameras and he'd fit right in.
