One of the mods describes their sexual orientation as "Pansexual lesbian aroace" and I'm like 99% sure they're just a creepy dude as they've mentioned their "troublesome facial hair"

This isn't just a gender issue, either: Look at the ones hyper-focusing on race nowadays. People aren't people; they're characters to play. What's to blame for this immaturity in how one views others and themselves? This regression in thought? Is it because all these people watch are TV and internet caricatures and never actually deal with the general public, so they think that's normal? Did they never learn the difference between reality and fiction? What the fuck happened to critical thinking? Is there literally something in the water that's interfering with our mental development?

The red flag that I can't help but focus on in this case is that line about the people they consider their "partners"; how this person thinks it's abnormal to have platonic relationships. That's called a friend (with benefits, if you're willing to fuck them but not hold them in special regard). That's...that's fucking depressing. And that's coming from an introverted, antisocial motherfucker.

I'd blame the internet for making us interact with a bajillion strangers that we never feel anything for, but people deal with strangers in real life. Or maybe they don't anymore, because they can focus on their phones 90% of the time and ignore the world around them. I can't even blame it on sites encouraging people to build up "friends" lists, because my faith in humanity will drop to fucking zero if that many people don't understand that it's not literal.

Someone smarter than I am called this, decades ago, when smartphones started being handed out at birth, the "react culture", read, comment, move on to the next thing to be outraged by.
After a near endless stream of outrage, presented by carefully contrived editorial work and ignorance, the end result is this creature, who's human no more, but a husk of a person, completely addicted to reacting to shit they are presented with. If enough people say something is bad, they join in on the chorus because that's how we're wired to function. Trouble is you've got to, at times, stop to think about stuff for a moment, maybe ask yourself questions like "is this shit for real?" or "there has to be something else to this" but because the stream of outrage is infinite and ever-continuous, second by second in nature, you'll swipe that story and move on to the next.

This is in essence what I blame for where we are at the moment, with people confused as to what gender they are, what shade of color they have on their skin. They won't ask if what they do in life matters or not, just if they look appropriate to others and if not, they'll declare themselves as victims and rally more to their "cause" for validation, and the cycle is freshly recharged with more outrage.

nani the fuck, m8? Why would you want to show this off of all things if you're primarily in the hardware business? Is there a shortage of woke western developers for PlayStation? Why is this even on PS5 anyway, aren't most VN players on low-end PCs? From purely marketing standpoints this is all so bizarre. I know Sony has loved indies since the late PS2/early PS3 era, but those were mostly physics toys and widget games, and were at least generally 3D and pretty to show off the capabilities of the console.

Everything has to have a label, and that label has to be all-encompassing. It used to be more reserved for politics (Are you left wing or right wing? liberal or conservative?) but has extended into greater identity and understanding of the world around you. Smarter people than me have written at length about it I'm sure, but I think it's the widespread acknowledgement of lack of willingness of others to listen to long-winded and potentially off-mark explanations of your beliefs and just summarizing it so you can move on to actual conversation about something specific.

But it's mutated into a sense that if you can't summarize your personality, beliefs, and identity with a couple of words, or be immediately understood with just a couple of words, the problem is that there aren't good enough single words or the listener isn't woke enough to understand; not that personalities and identities are just too complex to be summarized so succinctly. That in turn influences the identity itself and how it grows or is understood to the person themselves. I think that's a major component of the shift from 90s/early 00s PC culture eschewing gender roles towards the post 08 or so insistence on rigid adherence to gender roles to explain and encourage trans/nonbinary sexualities . Rather than deviation from a single-word definition meaning you're a real human being with naturally formed wants and needs and shan't be pigeonholed, it is instead taken as a sign that you're lost and confused for not finding your niche.

Also, on the internet you can lie to everyone, even yourself, and everything is bizarrely sexually charged for some reason, so you get fat balding cheeto males insisting they're cute lesbians and actually believing it. That's a different set of issues though.

This is the thing that has always struck me as weird, nobody in modern America was strictly enforcing gender roles, you were free to be an individual without it being too radical of a concept for people to handle.

At most you might see gender stereotypes in advertising, but here in a funny little thing called reality people understood that advertising is not reality, absolutely fucking everyone scoffed at the commercial of Paris Hilton munching on a hamburger while washing a car in a swimsuit, 2000s era corporate advertising was not a reflection of the reality.

People had bigger issues to worry about like terrorism, wars, recessions and so on.
