You know, I actually agree that the police shouldn't always be the primary ones on point for every single mental health call, they've been spread too thin for years now being the only responders while lacking the proper tools and training for it. But police still need to actually be there to provide backup, same as how they secure unsafe scenes for actual paramedics and firefighters. Seems like they're going to let it get to the point when the first 'public safety social worker' ends up bleeding out in the street from a call because 'deescalation' isn't just a magic word you can use that cops don't out of pure spite before they realize the answer isn't 'no or less police', but 'not only police'.

Ackshually, in a lot of countries that decriminalize small amounts of drugs there tends to be a paradoxical effect and drug rates go down among many demographics.

In places where prostitution is legal there tends to also be better health care for sex workers and lower rates of disease and sex trafficking.

I think the issue isn't that it's legalized, just decriminalized. It's not like there will be brothels now with adequate health and the like ensured for the workers, just more money for pimps to beat out of their whores and less worries about the police arresting their whores.

bruh it's Seattle. Pretty sure small amounts of soft and even hard drugs are already fine level offences if even that. The streets are full of needles, shit, and heroin junkies. Much of the West Coast has already decriminalized prostitution for the prostitutes themselves but not the pimps. If anything they need to start sending all those people to jail and actually keeping them there, not the other way around.
