I'm watching XqC playthough's and i reached the point where abby decides to betray all of her friends for lev supposedly because he saved her life. Actual exchange:

Are you fucking kidding me? This kid Abby met literally one day ago, whose only personality trait is being trans (and not understanding jokes) was enough to make her abandon Owen and start killing her own teammates. Do you know what this means?

1-Abby had zero second thoughts about popping Joel after he saved her life. Even if you hate joel, his death was insulting and pointless to the say the least.

2-ELLIE DID NOTHING WRONG. By the time they fight, Abby had already made herself a traitor to the wolves and got Isaac (her leader) killed, meaning ellie's kill count didnt matter. If ellie never got involved, Abby would either kill her own friends, be killed by them or run far away.

3-Abby had the opportunity to escape with Lev but instead she decided to hunt ellie to avenge the people she betrayed for lev, while putting lev in risk. This choice actually leads to Ellie saving abby's life!

In other words, Abby did everything wrong AND got away with it! Her revenge was totally worth it while ellie lost everything for nothing! Bravo druckman, your attempt to "redeem" abby made her completely irredemable!

Is Druckman trying to set up an Abby/Lev dynamic for the next game? Does he expect people to go "Abby sacrificed everything for that precious transboy uwu!"? Yeah. I don't think that's gonna work.

Everything Abby does is horrible. She has a serious personality disorder. Abby cares about Abby. Full stop. The pet shota is just there to be a useful idiot. She will risk him in a heartbeat if something else comes up that is more important. If Abby was a real person she would have a 500 page thread here.

The only character I cared about was Snake in all of his career making games. I don’t care about any of the characters in MGS5 and that boring simulator. Neil created more relatable characters, he made LOU the one you keep crying about Joel and Ellie. If you actually think Kojima is a better writer than Neil then you must be smoking some of that shit when Kojima makes games lol.

Strong, thick and rugged rather than prim proper and "sexy". Cuz women won’t be doing modeling, they will be fighting and surviving. If you think training in a post apocalyptic story is unrealistic then I think you should start educating yourself more about survival stories. There are many women athletes around the world, you find it in ufc, wwe, CrossFit, bodybuilding and powerlifting competitions and all kinds of sports, you will find buff women, a lot of them are, you also need to know that sometimes genetics plays a big role, and that is actually true to a lot of athletes. If Ellie is unique and has immunity, why can’t Abby be also different and have her own unique traits. It’s not a hard concept to grasp on.

I get where you’re coming from with this. I loved TLOU1 but I have to admit that a high production value or extended story cutscenes don’t ultimately make a good or fun video game.
At some point, you have to ask yourself if paying 60+ $ is worth it when the story you’re experiencing is basically opening up itself with little to no input from the player.
One of the main reasons why the first TellTale Walking Dead game was so successful was a good story, good characters and to see what changes from your input ie dialogue choices.
But once the magic was gone and TellTale went on their quest to hire more people than they can stomach, story based adventure games set their course to ultimately fail.

Even ignoring the murder spree, the only reason Ellie went back for revenge was because she was PTSDing so hard she couldnt have a normal life with Dina. The only way she would ever find peace was by meeting Abby again and finishing this, except she didnt, she spared her.

That's what i meant by Ellie "saving Abby's life". Argueably the MOST insulting thing is that Abby was going to die on a cross until Ellie helped her so they could have a fist fight. Ellie could've walked away with her conscience clean, knowing abby's death was her own fault. Abby would've lived if she didnt kill joel. She would've lived if she didnt betray her friends. She would've lived if she escaped instead of coming back for revenge.

But nope, that would've been actually be good. It would show that revenge fucked both of them instead of just Ellie. Abby WON.

I sure as fuck hope not. Abby is a complete sociopath and i never got the idea that she likes Lev (how could she? she only knows him for like 3 or 4 hours lol). Mel (owen's pregnant pair) even calls out Abby on the fact that she is only helping Lev because she wants to feel less guilty about abandoning Mel and the wolves to search for the fireflies with Owen. It's also very clear Mel already knew they were fucking behind their back.
