The simple answer is that he always looks shit up. He basically Spark Notes the game he is going to play to try and seem informed yet some of the more memorable details are lost to him because they weren't mentioned in whatever he looked up.

He just likes to seem smart because he thinks he is smart and jerks himself off to the idea.

Similar evidence but a different conclusion... I think Phil was like 'FGC Phil' in high school, but that it played out exactly the same. He shittalked everyone behind their backs, was constantly starting drama, talked down to everyone, and was generally regarded as a bully himself. Accordingly, what actually happened was everyone got tired of it and treated him badly because he acted like a complete asshole. Phil construes this as bullying, but to everyone else, he was just this abject prick that everyone rightfully hated.

You mean you don't think 'String-bean, I was in 2 musicals' Phil "won every single one-on-one fight I was ever in" or "pushed a kid in the computer lab so hard into the wall his head left a dent"? You don't think badass Phil was routinely getting in fights, but also that the one time he got a detention the 'Dean of Discipline' was so absolutely shocked to see Phil in his office he said "Huhn? You never get in trouble. What are you doing here?" and then said "I believe you did nothing wrong Phil, and I'm going to make sure this doesn't happen again."
Oh but also later Phil said he routinely got sent to the principal's office, it's almost like he's some kind of liar. . .

how prominent is scyther and kangaskhan post gen 1, it would make sense that dave jumped onto the hype train late and pretends to be an og for brownie points, i.e claiming to be responsible for the success of youtubers, who "copied his style", and "he's the reason variety streaming gained mainstream success"

We've seen photos of him from the back then. He went from rail-thin in the very early 2000s to being the Philsbury Doughboy a few years later so I'm going to guess that people weren't asking him if he had put on muscle like he claims, they were implying he'd put on lard.

Yeah, he was literally driving highway minimum speeds if that in the fast lane. Considering the speed limit in CT is 65 mph, and Phil wasn't wearing his glasses, it's likely this "maniac" was driving 65 to 70 mph a.k.a normal highway speeds, but that would have been near double the speed scared little Philliam was driving at.

Why are you taking Phil at his word about the accidents even happening? He's also claimed one of them burned half his face off, which only meshes with a total lack of scars or burn marks when you realize he's also a shameless plagiarist and that's what happens near the end of "The Dark Knight". We also know he had no problem driving on the highway in Renton when he first moved out there because he got multiple traffic citations and his gated community opens onto a multilane state highway. I'm not surprised anymore by the lies but I am disappointed by him not making me work to disprove them.

If we ever get a DSP version of the CWCki (c'mon Null you know you want to) "Phil and Reality" and "List of Phil's Lies" will be amazing to write.

I don't take him at his word. I try to present it more as: This is what Phil said, this is how stupid you would have to be to invent what Phil said, this is how stupid you would have to be to have actually had that happen.

Phil is a compulsive liar. It makes me laugh hearing him say "The air-bag melted ALL the skin off half my face."

Sometimes Phil's been in 2 car accidents, sometimes 3, sometimes many. He's told the high school one many different ways, his latest iteration combines 2 older stories he told. Sometimes the maniac drove behind him at 100 mph, sometimes the guy swerved in front of Phil and made him crash. . .and as Phil tells them they all sound like really dumb lies, and if any of them happened like Phil tells them they make Phil sound like a really dumb guy.

It's amusing how much discussion can be had about Phil's BS. Almost as amusing as the BS itself often is.

Getting bullied in HS: Given Phil's sensitivity, it wouldn't take much for him to feel bullied, so in a way, I suppose yes. Obviously he didn't respond to it the way he says he did, because that would require disregarding... well, too many things to list here, frankly.

Driving without his glasses on: If it's legit dangerous for him to do that (which is believable), then his self-image issues are worse than I thought, because there was a time when I avoided being seen with my glasses on (mostly in front of girls) but I NEVER would've endangered any lives by driving without them no matter how dorky I looked (which I did, given some of the frames I used to wear).

I would be more pissed off about Phil's selfishness there if it weren't for the fact that he obviously rarely drove before he became a hermit and probably doesn't drive at all anymore. But it's still one more thing that makes him a piece of shit.
