The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The TLOU2 thread on GTAForums pretty much consists of praise. I don't get how so many of them can unironically think this game has great storytelling.

Well @Secret Asshole did say the game WAS for Niel Druckman...
Thats the thing it's the GTA fourms. You could spray paint a dick on a wall, and GTA fans will crawl all over a 20 mile radius to find anything to connect to it, and call it a easter egg. i.e. GTA fandom are autstic smucks that spends way too much time over analyzing everything because the rockstar refuses to give them Story mission DLC. Of couse autstics like that would think TloU2 has great story telling.

So here's a fresh take I don't think I've seen before.
Everything that Neil has done to this game - all the unneccessary, toneless writing and butchering of characters literally and figuratively - everything seems worse to me because though this style of writing seems like the kind that some embittered, lonely edgelord might do...Neil has a family. He has a wife and daughter. What?

Now I know that an artist can and should be separate from the things they create but you always put some of yourself into every story you write. If someone looks at the relationship between Joel and Ellie in the first game with that in mind, it's a really touching connection that the writer firsthand knows a father's loyalty to his daughter. But with this game in mind? The one where parental figures and pregnant women are slaughtered willy-nilly even though you know how heartbreaking that would be personally? I kind of actually feel sick. I can't imagine what Neil's daughter thinks about all this.
I've been thinking about this, too, and was reminded of how the writer David Foster Wallace always spoke about his short story called "The Depressed Person." It was one of his most popular and interviewers just loved asking him about his inspiration for the character. The truth was that he'd transparently put everything he hated about himself into "The Depressed Person." In an interview long after the story's publication, Wallace admitted that he was mortified when people who read the story claimed to feel a kinship with the character or that they felt better about themselves after identifying with the story.

I refuse to directly compare Nards Drunkman with DFW, but Joel was a beautifully well-rendered character specifically because of how unflinchingly TLOU explored the darkest facets of his character. Maybe ND wouldn't have been able to pull that off if he hadn't held such a deep hatred for what Joel represents? How mortified must he have been when everyone who played his dumb zombie game loved Joel?

I can't believe iam asking this but if we were to take out druckmann making a synagogue out of an existing building that's not one, the whole writing Dina being written and looking like a stereotypical jewess and the rest of the bullshit and set up a scenario were two teenagers found a Torah left in a ruin in the same way this one is (open air and no protection as far as I can tell) ofr the time this bullshit happens after the apocalypse: Would that Torah be in better, similar or worss condition than the Dead Sea)
What, I'm still catching up with the thread and I got to find a way to blunt the pain

Ok, so let's break it down a bit.

Most Post apocalypse settings get buildings hilariously wrong. This is because they either watch Urbexers for inspiration, or look at Chernobyl to get a feel of what a city abandoned for x amount of years would look like.

The problem is, these places are invariably either 1) Owned by crazy old people and hoarders who were not maintaining their properties for a very long time to begin with. or 2) Abandoned within 24 hours, so windows and doors were wide open on "The day".

If a house was mostly maintained until abandonment (even as simple as dusting around and glancing at the building every so often) is going to be fine inside as a semi-sealed environment. Some houses can even cope with flooded guttering or even the stuff falling off for a number of years. Somewhere as well maintained as religious buildings tend to be will be fine for at least a decade without random shit gutting the interior.

In an apocalypse as slow as LTOU's most people would make chipboard companies very very happy by boarding up every window and doorway before abandoning the place on the presumption they may return. This means inside, books etc should still be fine.

Eventually, damp and other problems will creep in and cause problems, but generally a half decently maintained house or other building will allow for all sorts of stuff to be fine inside, including a Torah.

Oh for fuck’s sake...for 50% of the game’s production, Ellie did kill Abby. Dunkleman just decided it “wasn’t in Ellie’s character” to do so.

I find the irony of this guy being a fan Kojima, a guy who can make even the craziest idea interesting to think about, defend TLOU2 to this level to be just wonderful. Yeah, it's just mindless hate buddy.

"We, as artists, should be allowed to tell the story we want to tell."

Bitch, half of the people WORKING on the game disliked how this story was being told. So MUCH so in fact one worker went rogue to SAVE fans 60 bucks from buying this trash.

It's not that gamers wanted the safe route. The ideas they proposed like how Joel should've died were just suggested to prove their main point that Joel dying was not the issue. It was HOW he died.

Lets propose one idea - lets say the game circled around Joel and Ellie on a journey to get Abby and the whole time the gamer doesn't know why. Along the way we see Ellie take out Abby's cult members brutally while Joel looks on in horror and asks her for mercy on their part. Then at the end the SAME EXACT scene happens with how Joel died and we find out Joel was a ghost or a representation of Ellies inner loniness...some stupid shit like this I just came up with at 5 in the morning.

Well, this idea and Joel getting beaten to death with a golf club would've gotten MUCH less anger from the fans because the gamer STILL got to experience what they loved from the first game - mainly a gameplay of a zombie apocalypse through the lens of a father and daughter relationship. The gamers WANTED to see more of that relationship - MORE of Ellie and Joel. Unless you're Stanley fucking Kubrick, straying from that key formula is usually a hit and miss - you'd have to be EXTREMELY talented AND intelligent for a story that doesn't circle around Joel and Ellie to work.

And Niel is no Stanley Kubrick, no matter how much he or his dead beat SJW followers believes it to be so.

Difference is MGS is legit fun games. You can take out all the cutscenes, and still would be good game. Difference is Kojima doesnt neglect gameplay for the story. If he did then it would be shit, but it isnt. Which is why Metal Gear Solid is fun games. Unlike TV drama garbage Last of Us series is

tlou2 has proved to me that there is never going to be an actual GOOD video game ever again.
Only if you keep supporting Playstation. Since late PS4 they have pumped out these awful movie games. Get Xbox, buy good games. I dont like Nintendo.. atleast modern games since they are too childish but.. i'll gladly swallow my pride if it means to remove movie games from future gaming.

From watching Pewds stream this gameplay looks solid and the graphics are great but the storyline is stupid (only times Pewds seems invested in during the flashbacks) and I'm guessing unless you're the one playing it gets pretty dull at times.

It’s not brand specific, there are good exclusives on all platforms. Just because TLOU2 is shit doesn’t mean people should also disregard Gravity Rush, for example.

Well if you are serious then you could count the nurses in the Operation room. You don't have to kill them. You only have to kill the doctor who swings his scalpel at you

The only character I cared about was Snake in all of his career making games. I don’t care about any of the characters in MGS5 and that boring simulator. Neil created more relatable characters, he made LOU the one you keep crying about Joel and Ellie. If you actually think Kojima is a better writer than Neil then you must be smoking some of that shit when Kojima makes games lol.
Kojima made me feel more for a Baby that is treated as equipment than Niel did for any minor character in any of his games. Kojima also makes games. With mechanics. Niel makes sadness emulators with the ability to skip some stuff because gaming is meant to cause suffering and for faggots who suck taint.
