Yeah I know about that one. It's actually solid proof for horseshoe theory.
Speaking of reddit, I went to TumblrInAction, and it's Sanity Sunday there. Saw this post and had to share it here, while it's not strictly lolcow material and it might be off topic, it reminded me of one thought I had ages ago:
I mean, seriously? I've been on 4chan for since ever (ok maybe not lately but definitely in early days where Tumblr didn't even exist yet) and it's amazing when you think about it; 4chan was cesspool of everything that was ''bad and mean'' on internet. Philanthropists may be a bit of exaggeration but 4chan had it's own shinning moments. Tumblr on other hand is a complete opposite. General attitude of Tumblr is ''be nice to everyone, except to ones that does not fall into line of oppressed ones'' and playing some sort of PC police.
For fucks sake, 4chan hunted down a girl who threw puppies into river and had it recorded, and they really didn't give a shit where in the world she was. They fucking found her, and most saddest part of it personally was that she was from my country. I still remember the shitstorm over local newspaper and tv stations about it. Tumblr on other hand rarely exists out of the USA centric point of view. Tumblr is all about ''minorities and being an helping hand to the people'' yet they are gonna mob out people who dare to speak out differently.
I'm just fascinated how those two sites are on polar opposites from each other. When I think about this in a logical way, it makes me wish I studied Psychology and made dissertation how internet anonymity (or in Tumblr status, identity) works on people psyche. It's quite fascinating.
