The people in Minneapolis [and other locales] aren't going to be very pleased when they realize that disbanding/defunding the police department only paved the way for private security firms like the Pinkertons, Blackwater, Securitas, etc. The guys who work for those security firms/groups are often better trained than police officers. There will be no badge numbers to write down and no accountability whatsoever. These guys have a job to do and they don't give a shit about accountability, complaints, misbehavior or inappropriate use of force. They're typically more heavy-handed than police too.

I can confirm the heavy-handedness. I once worked at a client site where Pinkerton did security. One day, they could be largely indifferent only to be enforcing lockdown-style security protocols the next day with checkpoints for inspecting everyone's brief cases to make sure what was inside matched what was declared on the back of their ID badges.

All the LEOs I know have quite the sense of humor when it comes calling them selves pigs and cop jokes so I doubt the "gift" is achieving its goal

I don't know if the idea took off in other cities, but the Detroit PD once had a number of musically-talented cops form a band and call themselves the Blue Pigs. They'd use their musical performances as a form of community relations. So, they took what was traditionally seen as a disparaging nickname and turned it into a term of pride. In that regard, I agree with your comment.

I kind of agree. I think people should start going to church more. I'm still Agnostic as fuck, but I think Christianity would do the country and culture some favors.

I think what we could use most/more of is the Golden Rule. All these protestors and activists screech about their right be treated properly only to turn around and treat everyone else worse than shit . They have to realize that respect is a two-way street and respect received from others tends to be proportional to respect given to others.

Agreed. I can understand certain people or groups coming the the States to flee awful living conditions or legitimate forms of oppression. However, it's head-scratching to observe immigrants -- legal ones included -- doing nothing to accustom themselves to their new home or integrate. Worse, they only learn enough English to make sure they can demand the gibs they've been told they qualify for -- gibs that citizens get denied for even when they themselves demonstrate legitimate need. Meanwhile, the immigrants that somehow manage to benefit from as many low-income programs as possible manage to somehow have enough money to pay for pricey things such as premium cable TV stations that broadcast in their native language or country.

Finally, there's the group that @Sammich mentioned that comes to the US and immediately proceeds to badmouth their new home. It really does raise the question, "If you hate it so much, why did you choose to come here?"

I just bought this book called How Christianity Saved Civilization by Mike Aquilina and James Papandrea which talks about how the world was before Christianity and how so many of our morals today (such as murder being bad) originated from that religion

He focuses on the Roman Empire and holy shit it's clear that we are reverting back to our hedonistic, anything-goes, miserable pre-christian roots

The biggest problem with this is that the left killed the catholic church, which in turned killed Christianity for many people. I litterally stopped going to church as every service was prayers for sryian refugees as of 2016-2017 (thunk-provoking) and the pope is a marxist who is cheering on gays. Then we started talking about religion and I said Look, I don't believe any single religion is correct. We know many of their claims are scientifically impossible. But religion is necessary for a society to function smoothly. People need to adhere to a code, to have a sense of morality and for well-defined roles in society.

He's a Muslim so we discussed Islam and my opinion is that Muhammad was well aware of the tendency of people to fall into degeneracy, especially when they were well-off. There's a name for it in Islam, ‏جَاهِلِيَّة‎‎, jahiliyyah, the Age of Ignorance. There's different interpretations but it basically means disorder, violence and immorality. It's my belief this was specially addressed in the Quran through Sharia, for example in dress codes for women. I feel it was a reaction to unrestrained behavior prevalent at the time which Muhammad felt needed to be checked. I think it was a deliberate attempt to impose structure on an independent and violent society. The other Abrahamic religions imposed similar restrictions on men and women.

Look at the major denominations now, with the anything goes attitude, female priests and gay marriage in the church/synagogue. Religion has forfeited any pretense of being the moral arbiters in society with only a few exceptions (Islam being one). People need structure in their lives and since religion no longer provides it, they've turned to political groups and the commies are only too happy to provide it. I don't even like Islam but it does fulfill an important need among a certain group of people but most importantly is has strict definitions of morality for men and women as well as for society as a whole.

I believe we are in the generation that destroys itself as some Muslim named ibn khaldun called it. First builds, second maintains and third pisses it away. And then we start again. Even Muslim societies have had periods of degeneracy and chaos. The ottoman empire lasted 600 years but had a shit load of different families rule it.

Destruction of religion has played a role but also since the country switching to a service based economy has empowered the bosses over the workers as well.

I appreciate the attempt to bring hope. I have felt the weight of the witch hunt for a month now. I was almost tempted to tell them how dividing cop initiated killings / total racial population, was a poor metric, since that is like dividing foreclosures /us population instead of foreclosures/home ownership, and then work in a comparison to arrests or police interactions.

It's more like there are multiple slogans being thrown around and the proles are biting down on the one that was meant for them. Most of the people saying "abolish the police" are talking about the police as an institution. They want to break down law enforcement as it exists currently and replace it with a leftist controlled law enforcement. However, this is not palatable at all for normies, even normie progressives. Thus, the "defund the police" slogan was created. This means the same thing in practice (break down old law enforcement institutions and create new ones by relocating funds) but the messaging is different. Abolishing the police and replacing it sounds scary, so the messaging for the latter is all about redistributing responsibilities of police to other government workers. It also allows them to point to prior instances of police re-organization and claim them as examples of what they want to implement.
