Dr. Disrespect permanently banned from Twitch - Turns out he was a groomer

Current rumor is that he was going to try and start an alternative streaming service and/or it is business related. Either that or criminal.

I think it's business/alt-tech related for reasons I outlined above.

If it is criminal, it's probably not anything MeToo-related otherwise we would've seen some virtue-signalling on Twitch's part by now, or people like Zoe and Anita would've started claiming victory for their "Gaming Me Too" crusade they've been trying to start.

Those are two canyon sized "Ifs" when it comes to scenarios.

True.

I think everyone jumped the gun and assumed MeToo because this happened pretty close to Chris Avellone and a few others getting busted, but I doubt it.

Dr. Disrespect has mirrored shades and a 1970's mustache, not hipster glasses and a 2010's beard. He just doesn't really strike me as the soy bearded egg male feminist sex pest type, and everyone knows his aggressive manic "Ric Flair of video games" persona is him playing a character. If Dr. Disrespect was getting MeToo'd, they'd have made a point of highlighting that.

If he was guilty of sexual offenses, we would've known right off the bat and they would've been as public about it as they possibly could as opposed to this intentionally vague cloak and dagger bullshit.

If it's a criminal case, I'd expect something that's a felony but is also boring white collar stuff not conducive to your typical cancel culture like fraud or embezzlement

I bet there was no reason beyond "Someone at Twitch didn't like him."

Well, he was dropped by other sponsors as well... so I think this is something bigger than just Twitch... and from what I understand, he had a significant contract with them. If they went and canned him for some frivolous nitpicky stuff just to get rid of him, then Twitch risks a bunch of shit in court: depositions, emails getting subpoenaed, etc. when Disrespect sues them for breach.

I definitely think it's something legal that Disrespect is or will be facing that is above and beyond standard cancel culture / metoo stuff... might be an incoming civil suit, which would explain why he doesn't appear to have been arrested. Maybe he is going to be sued for something and details / receipts were shown to his sponsors ahead of the filing.

Probably this, and I'm going to echo the sentiments that it was probably one of Twitch's more cervine staff members.

To be fair, a lot of SJW's are very petty and short-sighted in that regard, and I wouldn't put it past the deer girl or some of the other dangerhairs and bearded soy men at Twitch to not consider the potential legal ramifications of Dr. Disrespect suing them.

Still, I think it's probably a civil lawsuit or contract breach which is why Twitch is dropping him and probably pressuring all his sponsors to drop him all at once.

makes sense. best of luck to them because twitch sucks. way less spicy than the lizard people got to him though.

British conspiracy theorist, he's the guy that claimed world leaders, including the Queen of England, are actually reptilian aliens in disguise, straight out of They Live.

I think he's walked back some of those claims and I don't know how much of it he still believes regarding the aliens, but that's what he's famous for, although I think he's more of a general conspiracy theorist now.
He's been accused of using "lizard" as code for "Jew" so his is not a name to throw about if you don't want to deal with that controversy. He's a nutter, but not everything he says is crazy. He seems to me like he's a British Alex Jones. Some truth wrapped up in a whole lot of crazy.

Unless there's some relationship I don't know about that would allow this, Google doesn't own Spotify. Google does its music streaming via YouTube Red IIRC.

I like the theory in concept. Spotify is doing what Mixer did last year, but with audio podcasts instead of streaming. While Spotify does offer video, I don't believe it has support for livestreaming yet.

I've been going through Twitch's TOS and they have an unusual clause against streaming in a private place, say, the restroom of an convention center. But aside from the SJW pandering, the only thing that's noticeable is their stance against spreading harmful information and harassment.

And regarding Hillary, the e-mail scandal is still going as of March of this yearyear, but I think it's an red herring.

Google has a long history of doing a lot of shit and not succeeding at most of them, Google booting up a new streaming platform gives me as much hope as Mixer did the only saving grace is that this seems less of a brive and more of a "we're done with Twitch lets make something better" from actual streamers that know how much Twitch sucks but also what they do right.
Call me optimistic and gay but i really hope Google leaves their agenda on the backseat for a bit and let the streamers and developers work togheter to make a decent streaming platform that can compete with twitch.

You think they're going to use the bathroom thing again?

Hershchel Guy Beaham IV, better known as his character DrDisRespect, is a twitch streamer who generally plays up the gaming personality. You may recognize the name from a controversy just last year on June 11th, 2019 when he was doing an IRL stream and his camera guy was still filming when entering into the boys bathroom.
(I'm not sure of the legality of hosting the video, so instead I'll post this screenshot)

However, on June 26th, 2020 Hershchel got permanently banned from twitch. It has been two days now and nobody has said a word. So far the public only has been teased about the severity of the situation. A tweet from someone by the name of "ShannonZKiller" even says he is completely done with streaming all together.

The only thing we have publicly out of twitch is a copy past "Follow our guidelines faggot, figure out what you did". Now not only has he lost his partnership with twitch but also with Discord. DrDisRespects first tweet breaking silence just is a big "thank you for everyone in these trying times".

It can also be seen that this could be something really serious on his face nearing the end of his last livestream on Tiwtch. He is his normal charachter for a little bit, then at 1:58 he looks down at what can be assumed is his phone then suddenly he is no longer in character.

There has been plenty of conspiracy theories floating around about why. The current one I've seen getting thrown around on 4chan and a little bit on twitter comes from this screenshot:

Which this doesn't entirely line up with a previous statement. Talking about how DrDisRespect is completely done with it all if he indeed broke contract to join up with another streaming platform.

It has been two days and nobody has answers leaving everyone to do nothing but speculate what happened. So Kiwi's in entertainment, why don't we put on our tinfoil hats and conspire as well. What do you think happened?

(I'll be willing to update OP if this turns out to be a bigger deal than expected)

good thread, will watch for more info
really weird situation all around. when i first heard about it i assumed it would be some #metoo cancel operation because that shit is happening all over the twitch scene right now, but it doesn't look like it because those types of ops usually involve tons of public call-outs and loud accusations all over the place, wheras this happening is super silent and secretive. seems like lots of behind the scenes stuff is going on, hopefully we'll find out more details soon.

For the first day this was going on I thought that too, but now we're two days out and we haven't heard anyone talk about it in any details. Keemstar has been trying to figure stuff out as well. It's unusual.
