reddit General

A list of notable banned subreddits (I can add more if you find them):
r/ConsumeProduct, r/ClericalFascism, r/Smuggies, r/DebateAltRight, r/bruhfunny, r/ShitNeoconsSay, r/soyboys, r/imgoingtohellforthis2, r/AltRightChristian, r/TheHonkPill, r/topnotchshitposting, r/TheNewRight, r/DarkHumorAndMemes, r/GenderCritical, r/ChapoTrapHouse, r/rightwingLGBT, r/whitebeauty, r/The3rdPosition, r/The_Donald, r/CumTown, r/FreeDrama, r/FreeSpeechWorld, r/againstwomensrights, r/ChapoTrapHouse2, r/blackfathers.
What I find funny is that reddit censored the names of the subreddits like they're fucking voldemort. It also makes it harder for me to research what subreddit has been banned and why.

There's a big list being updated here:

Edit: The new r/gendercritical alternative r/femalehuman has gone already.

Reddit is so shit. I wish there was a viable reddit alternative, those "free speech" alternatives are always just full of pathetic whites, with victim mentality, who blame the jooos for everything.
I get the suspicion that this is by design. Major platforms ban the most publicly undesirable people first, who then flock and overwhelm the best alternatives. Those alternatives then get blasted for upholding their free speech policies and not banning the undesirables, thus tainting their brand image and becoming unappealing to the public.
So in the end you must either become undesirable yourself, or bow down to the same policies that the major platforms are implementing and become a cog in the machine.

Edit:
Apparently r/ConsumeProduct got banned for 'hate', does anyone here know why?

Biden must be in bad shape if they're this terrified of Trump winning.
Yeah right, this is just insurance.
How much are you gonna bet that visitors will be shitting up the remaining subreddits and implode the site? That, or find KF and shit it up here. Reddit might as well just pull the plug.
Le reddit army has arrived!

When I glanced at it the other day, 50%+ of the threads were just generic right-wing grievance politics that had absolutely nothing to do with consuming products. The sub had become heavily politicized and frequently off topic. Their ban is bullshit, but is consistent with the rest of these.

I just found a new subreddit to follow. UncensoredLGBT. It seems most posters there are right-leaning but then there’s this post.

“I just got banned from r/lgbt without warning for apparently being "biphobic" (I'm bi myself)... I got banned because I said that bi in straight passing relationships have straight privilege,”

Holy shit can’t they stop tearing each other down for just one second?

Because of frothing at the mouth /pol/tards blaming dem JOOS and da GAY AGENDA whenever a piece of woke media was posted on that sub.

I'm hit with a sense of disappointment, more than anything.
We all know having a conversation on reddit is usually pointless, since your worth as a user and the comments you make are valued on whether the mods condone it and if fellow users agree with it. It attracts only the most shallow, dopamine-inducing platitudes to get seen, so even if you want to contribute you find yourself intentionally holding off on your real views, as the hive doesn't reward nuance or deviation.

Having said that, I'll miss quite a few meme subs, who provided good humour. I'll also deeply miss a lot of the political subs, not because I agreed with what was said, but because on the mid-sized subreddits you could get distilled case studies in what the composite opinion of a specific ideology was on any given subject. The larger subs you could generally forget about, but the likes of /r/GenderCritical was thunk-provoking most days, and the fact they've pillaged the Dirtbag Left as well is really damning (Red Scare ladies being the lone holdout). This is just the first wave though and I fully expect the lifeboat subs will be purged as well in due time.

What makes me truly MOTI though is how thousands of unique subs are gone forever, yet the entire SRS franchise goes unmolested. Here are a network of subreddits on this site, which has spent years making fun of people and brigading other subs for Wrongthink (read; opinions which are completely normal in the real world). Seriously! I invite everybody to go to /r/ShitRedditSays right now and read the headlines. Spot a lie out of any of the comments they're 'wow just wow'ing over.
Their whole shtick is to cherrypick people Mad On The Internet and find ways to demean and pathologise those views. Nothing productive comes from it except a self-referential circle-jerk of their own superiority, which is totally unearned. Why is nobody else on the Internet allowed an opinion except for them?
I would love to go use another platform instead of reddit, but they hold an effective monopoly over content aggregation, and even if I just wanted to see interesting Right wing LGBT views now, or TERF anecdotes, or just some memes making fun of obtuse consumerism, I don't know where to do that because reddit just cast hundreds of thousands of people to the wind with no way to see where they'll all go. They've all been made to fuck off, but they've done as much in a million different directions. Will they coalesce again? Hard to say, but I figure the majority will now keep their views to themselves because they've no viable off-site alternative.

Trump better do more than just 'monitor the situation' or 'consider' action here. He needs to clamp the fuck down because what reddit have just done is firmly assert itself as a political corporate entity, and a content publisher instead of just a platform. Nail them to the wall for every failure in this role until it fully embraces the spirit of the 1st Amendment in its company policy.
If he doesn't he loses this election, not because his opposition had better arguments, but because they denied his supporters any viable means to express their support.

Can Based Reddit spring back from this? What are they gonna do next, you think?
Nope, not at all.

Redditors will flock to sites like 4chan and Kiwifarms (thank god null locked registration), along with reddit alternatives like ruqqus (by far the most popular). The issue with these alternatives, however, is that they tend to attract less-than-desirable people from less-than-desirable communities, and end up being shitty themselves.

The way I see it, 4chan will gain the largest influx.

Back on r/rightwinglgbt, people posting about getting banned from r/lgbt was so common it was a meme, and people would make alt accounts just to see how fast they could get banned.
