Okay, this is a good time to explain how modern hospitals work. And how the media is playing dumb to fuck with the numbers and drive you into a panic.
A normal Hospital will have one dedicated ICU of 10-20 or so beds. These are the top end shits hit the fan worst case most intensive care patients. Often complex trauma’s, burns, etc. When the media propagandists are reporting Texas ICU numbers these are what they are reporting. Most ICU’s are kept at 80%+ full Just from normal operations.
Hospitals will have a number of Specialized units that will also act as ICU Overflow units. They are generally similarly equipped or can swiftly be converted by pulling hardware out of reserve. Things like the CCU, Surgical ICU. PICU, MICU, Burn Units, Post Op, Cardiac Step down floors, etc. A small to midsized modern hospital may have 100+ possible ICU level beds. Especially when you realize that COVID 19 never actually needs the full care and facilities of the ICU. Ventilators and Pneumonia can be managed on most elevated care floors.
If the media is feeding you statistics by percentages instead of raw numbers be suspicious. As this year has shown us, the media does not have your best interests in mind.
