That just seems so off. Back in the day, reg dates were prestige on the forums, and half the reason the community doesn't want to modernize the software is they likely would lose that.

Either her old content was toxic, she was largely a lurker, or she never had one. It feels like someone would have tracked her old account down if it was up there, with or without garbage search.

I would hazard the guess that because she was so young, she never had one and didn't want to ask a parent to pay for one because then they'd wonder why their kid wants to be on a place called "Something Awful". That would lead to investigation, and then she would definitely get told no. This is all just conjecture on my part.

One of the articles you linked mentions that he had already bought his original house but hadn't yet made the move from Washington to Missouri. It was published on March 18 2003 so that gives you at least a ballpark timing for those events. I'm not sure when he made the move from California to Washington, but it would've had to have been between 2000 and 2003.

Also, there was a Washington state tax warrant filed against him on 12/29/2003 for failing to pay $3,702.75 of taxes owed by Something Awful:


The Washington Court website is weird and I can't archive the page itself, but I've attached a PDF of the printable version of the page to this post. The case number is 03-2-23196-4 and it's titled "STATE REVENUE VS RICHARD CHARLES KYANKA ET UX DBA" if you want to look it up on the site. This doesn't necessarily indicate he was in Washington on 12/29/2003 since they would've filed the warrant regardless of where he was. Still, I think it's an interesting tidbit given his later IRS tax issues and the complaints from the front page writers he failed to pay. He's clearly got a long history of not paying what he owes.

She certainly seemed clueless about SA humor and culture for someone who had supposedly been a goon at 12. I think she heard about SA, or knew some DA accounts associated with SA, when she was a teenager or something. There was some teenage eta post someone found that indicated she knew you could make money doing furry art commissions on SA and wanted to try to market her work there.

Everything from her totally tone deaf corporate introduction speech to the forums, to being unable to handle the totally predictable goon reactions to her FB posts and terrible curated front page content, made me think she had no real clue about SA.

It seemed her main knowledge about SA was that it produced a bunch of well known content years ago and that it had possible value as a “brand” Her posts and discussion of SA had all the depth of someone who read up on it recently.

Yeah I agree that they're both shit and deserve ridicule, I'm just disappointed that people couldn't restrain themselves from directly shitting on her while she was here. If people would've played nice for like two seconds she probably would've spilled way more tea about Lowtax, tell us things we might never know otherwise. That's way more valuable than telling her she's shit to her face, especially when she clearly reads the thread and already knows what people think of her. I agree that people went way too MOTI at her, but I don't think we lost anything of relevance. People were still fairly civil on the first couple of times they asked her anything, and she still only seemed interested in writing condescending bullshit about how she's totally above all this drama and meanness. It was frankly a waste of everyone's time, and I don't think letting her stick around for ten more pages would've given us any content.

In either case she's 100% coming back. She craves attention 24/7, the next time her 'support network' fails her (i.e. the people at SA stop giving her unconditional asspats for five minutes) she'll stick her head back in here.
